Treatment failure and associated factors among first line patients on highly active antiretroviral therapy in Ethiopia:a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background:Antiretroviral therapy(ART)restores immune function and reduces human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)related adverse *** results of previous studies in Ethiopia were replete with inconsistent findings;nonexistence of national representative figures and determinant factors are found as significant *** aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the existing evidence on ART treatment failure and associated factors in ***:Relevant studies on ART treatment failure were retrieved from international databases:PubMed,Google Scholar,Scopus,and Science Direct systematically prior to March 14,*** identified studies reporting the proportion of first line treatment failure among HIV patients in Ethiopia were *** authors independently extracted all necessary data using a standardized data extraction format.A random-effects model was used to calculate pooled estimates and associated factors in Stata/se *** Cochrane Q test statistics and I2 tests were used to assess the heterogeneity of the ***:From 18 articles reviewed;the pooled proportion of first line treatment failure among ART users in Ethiopia was 15.3%(95%CI:12,18.6)with(I2=97.9%,phealth Organization(WHO)treatment failure assessment criteria were carried out,accordingly the highest prevalence(11.5%)was noted on immunological and the lowest(5.8%)was observed virological treatment *** had found poor adherence(OR=8.6,95%CI:5.6,13.4),not disclosed(OR=2.1,95%CI:1.5,3.0),advanced WHO clinical stage III/IV(OR=2.4,95%CI:1.5,3.8),change in regimen(OR=2.5,95%CI:1.6,3.9)and being co-infected(OR=2.56,95%CI:2.2,3.0)were statistically significant factors for treatment ***:In this study,treatment failure among ART users in Ethiopia was ***,co-infection,advanced WHO clinical stage,regimen change,and disclosure are determinant factors for treatment ***,improve d

Background:Schistosomiasis is a global health problem affecting 250 million people,with 90%in Sub-Saharan *** Botswana,the burden is high in the Okavango delta because of the water *** recommends integrated measures,including access to clean water,sanitation,health education,and drugs to control and eliminate *** knowledge and awareness of schistosomiasis for School-Aged Children(SAC)is *** study aimed at assessing knowledge and awareness of schistosomiasis among SAC in the Okavango ***:A cross-sectional survey assessing awareness and knowledge of schistosomiasis in schools was conducted.480 questionnaires were administered to gather demographic profiles,awareness,and knowledge of risky ***-square and descriptive analysis determined the differences in SAC`s awareness and knowledge levels based on localities,gender,age,and health ***:The results showed a low awareness level,with only(42%)of respondents having heard about the disease and(52%)knowing its local *** children from Sekondomboro(83%)and Samochima lacked awareness,while children from Mohembo(77%)and those who had health education(70%)demonstrated significant awareness levels(P≤0.001).Seventy-two percent(72%)lacked knowledge of the cause and(95%)did not know the disease *** from Xakao(91%),(85%)Sepopa,and(75%)of younger children did not know haematuria is a symptom of the *** and SAC with health education were more likely to know that swimming is a risk factor(P≤0.001)and(P≤0.05)***:Although respondents from four schools demonstrated some level of awareness of the disease,and knowledge of risky behaviors,the study showed a lack of in-depth knowledge on the life-cycle and cause of the ***,therefore,recommend the implementation of an integrated approach to health education and improvement in access to clean water and sanitation in all study areas.

The migration of healthcare professionals,including nurses,is a global *** is driven by various factors,including the pursuit of better opportunities,living conditions,and professional development,as well as political instability or conflict in their home *** World health Organization(WHO)has noted that high-income countries often rely on foreign-trained nurses to fill gaps in their healthcare systems[1].For instance,as of 2021,over 40%(52 million)of all nurses in the United States(US)were expatriates[2].In the United Kingdom(UK),the percentage of expatriate nurses was even higher,reaching approximately 18%in 2021[3].Owing to globalization and migration,healthcare providers must possess cultural competence to deliver improved care[4,5].Culturally responsive teaching(CRT)is rooted in the idea that culture plays a vital role in shaping people’s behaviors,beliefs,values,and communication styles[6].Furthermore,these cultural factors influence patients’perspectives on health,illness,healing,and their preferences for care and communication[7].By recognizing and embracing these cultural differences,nurses can provide more effective and compassionate care to their diverse patient population[8].

When a patient falls within a hospital setting,there is a significant increase in the risk of severe injury or health *** factors associated with such falls is crucial to mitigate their impact on patient *** review seeks to analyze the factors contributing to patient falls in *** main goal is to enhance our understanding of the reasons behind these falls,enabling hospitals to devise more effective prevention *** study reviewed literature published from 2013 to 2022,using the Arksey and O’Malley methodology for a scoping *** research literature was searched from seven databases,namely,PubMed,ScienceDirect,Wiley Library,Garuda,global Index Medicus,Emerald Insight,and Google *** inclusion criteria comprised both qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary data studies centered on hospitalized *** of the 893 studies analyzed,23 met the criteria and were included in this *** there is not an abundance of relevant literature,this review identified several factors associated with falls in *** encompass environmental,patient,staff,and medical *** study offers valuable insights for hospitals and medical personnel aiming to enhance fall prevention *** prevention efforts should prioritize early identification of patient risk factors,enhancement of the care environment,thorough training for care staff,and vigilant supervision of high-risk *** comprehending the factors that contribute to patient falls,hospitals can bolster patient safety and mitigate the adverse effects of falls within the health-care setting.
