This article provides new insights regarding driver behavior, techniques and adaptability. This study has been done because: 1) driving a vehicle is critical and one of the most common daily tasks;2) simulators are used for the purpose of training and researching driver behavior and characteristics;3) the article addresses driver experience by involving new virtual reality technologies. A simulator has been used to assist novice drivers to learn how to drive in a very safe environment, and researching and collecting data for researchers has become easier due to this secure and user-friendly environment. The theoretical framework of this driving simulation has been designed by using the Unity3D game engine (5.4.f3 version) and was programmed with the C# programming language. To make the driving environment more realistic we, in addition, utilized the HTC Vive Virtual reality headset which is powered by Steamvr. We used Unity Game Engine to design our scenarios and maps because by doing this we are able to be more flexible with designing. In this study, we asked 10 people ranging from ages 19 - 37 to participate in this experiment. Four Japanese divers and six non-Japanese drivers engaged in this study, some of which do not have a driver’s license in Japan. A few Japanese drivers have a license and car, while others have a license but no car. In order to analyze the results of this experiment we are used MatlabR2016b to analyze the gathered data. The result of this research indicates that individual’s behavior and characteristics such as controlling the speed, remaining calm and relaxed when driving, driving at appropriate speeds depending on changes in road structures and etc. can affect their driving performance.

Driving a vehicle is one of the most common daily yet hazardous tasks. One of the great interests in recent research is to characterize a driver’s behaviors through the use of a driving simulation. Virtual reality technology is now a promising alternative to the conventional driving simulations since it provides a more simple, secure and user-friendly environment for data collection. The driving simulator was used to assist novice drivers in learning how to drive in a very calm environment since the driving is not taking place on an actual road. This paper provides new insights regarding a driver’s behavior, techniques and adaptability within a driving simulation using virtual reality technology. The theoretical framework of this driving simulation has been designed using the Unity3D game engine (5.4.0f3 version) and programmed by the C# programming language. To make the driving simulation environment more realistic, the HTC Vive Virtual reality headset, powered by Steamvr, was used. 10 volunteers ranging from ages 19 - 37 participated in the virtual reality driving experiment. Matlab R2016b was used to analyze the data obtained from experiment. This research results are crucial for training drivers and obtaining insight on a driver’s behavior and characteristics. We have gathered diverse results for 10 drivers with different characteristics to be discussed in this study. Driving simulations are not easy to use for some users due to motion sickness, difficulties in adopting to a virtual environment. Furthermore, results of this study clearly show the performance of drivers is closely associated with individual’s behavior and adaptability to the driving simulator. Based on our findings, it can be said that with a VR-HMD (Virtual Reality-Head Mounted Display) Driving Simulator enables us to evaluate a driver’s “performance error”, “recognition errors” and “decision error”. Behavior of Cesium in Dam Reservior-Investigation Based on Sediment Columns

To generate information for better understanding of the behavior of cesium in relatively closed water bodies, experiments using four columns consisted of the sediment phase and the overlying water phase, together with batch sorption experiments were conducted, and the kinetics and the binding potential of cesium by sediment were investigated. Through model analysis with both the first order and the pseudo-second order reaction models, the kinetic parameters of cesium within the four columns were determined. In addition, by analyzing batch equilibrium data with both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models, associated sorption parameters were also generated. Comparisons of the models’ suitability for description of both kinetics and binding capacity of cesium were thus made, and the effects of pH and EC on the binding capacity were also studied.

The orbital phase refers to the relationship between orbitals that originates from their wave character. We show here that the orbital phase essentially determines the diastereoselectivity of the following three organic reactions. 1) Torquoselectivity of the electrocyclicring-opening reaction of 3-substituted cyclobutenes;2) Contradictory torquoselectivity of the retro-Nazarov reaction;3) Diastereoselectivity in electrophilic addition to substituted ethylenes.

Case Report: A Laparoscopic Treated Case of Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis with Vaginal Invasion Diagnosed by Vaginal Cytology

A recently observed case of deep infiltrating endometriosis with its vaginal invasion diagnosed by vaginal cytology is reported. A 28-year-old Japanese woman complained of a severe dysmenorrhea. Left ovarian endometriotic cyst and deep infiltrating endometriosis were suspected. Two red-spots were also present in the posterior fornix of vagina. Vaginal cytology with?cytokeratin (CK) 7-immunocytochemistry suggested the presence of infiltrating endometriosis. She underwent left ovarian cystectomy and resection of thickened uterosacral ligaments with vaginal endometriotic spots, under a laparoscope, based on the diagnosis of endometriotic cyst. Histopathology revealed DIE with vaginal invasion. Immunostaining for CK7 was positive for endometriotic cyst, while CK20 was negative. The stromal cells in endometriosis were immunohistochemically positive for CD10. The vaginal fornix was well-healed one month later the surgery. Postoperatively, she got pregnant with her natural intercourse and delivered a healthy 2138 g girl at 36 weeks of gestation.

Esophageal cancer is the sixth leading cause of cancer death and remains one of the least survivable cancers. Esophageal cancers show wide variations in incidence in different population, suggesting that environmental or lifestyle risk factors could be controlled to reduce risk of these diseases. There are two major histopathologic types (squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma) of esophageal epithelial malignancy. Recently, the rate of adenocarcinoma is increasing in developed countries: in the United States, 50% or more is adenocarcinoma and, in about 70%, the increase especially in a white male serves as adenocarcinoma. Esophageal adenocarcinoma develops in the lower esophagus. In contrast, in Japan, the increase in adenocarcinoma is not clear and most (90%) of esophageal cancers are squamous cell carcinoma. Such squamous cell carcinoma occurs onto the middle part esophagus mostly, and 60% or more of the whole esophagus cancer also develops in the middle and upper parts. These differences also influence the treatment results. The scope of this article is to discuss carcinogenesis in the esophagus by giving an overview about its histopathological characteristics and molecular mechanisms.

A Case of Ewing’s Sarcoma Arising in the Cervical Spine with an Elevation of Serum ProGRP

We experienced a case of small, round-cell malignant neoplasm diagnosed by touch smear cytology and histopathology when an open biopsy was performed in a 50-year-old Japanese woman. She was suspected of having a cervical spine tumor after surgery for cervical spine foraminal stenosis. After consent, the cervical spine tumor histologically diagnosed by an open biopsy was confirmed to be Ewing sarcoma (EWS) by genetic testing. EWS belongs to a group of small, round-cell tumors that are morphologically similar and often difficult to differentiate. After the open biopsy, the present patient received radiotherapy, and her plasma level of Pro-Gastrin-Releasing-Peptide was decreased (217.2 pg/ml before surgery to 30.3 pg/ml;reference value: 0 - 80 pg/ml). We herein report the process for making the final diagnosis by focusing on the intraoperative cytology, histopathology, and immunohistochemical findings. Our diagnosis was validated by karyotyping and a fluorescence in-situ hybridization analysis.
