AIM:To re-examine whether hepatic vein thrombosis(HvT)(classical Budd-Chiari syndrome)and hepatic vena cava-Budd Chiari syndrome(HvC-BCS)are the same ***:A systematic review of observational studies conducted in adult subjects with primary BCS,hepatic vein outflow tract obstruction,membranous obstruction of the inferior vena cava(IvC),obliterative hepatocavopathy,or HvT during the period of January2000 until February 2015 was conducted using the following databases:Cochrane Library,CINAHL,MEDLINE,Pub Med and ***:Of 1299 articles identified,26 were included in this *** BCS is more common in women with a pure hepatic vein obstruction(49%-74%).HvCBCS is more common in men with the obstruction often located in both the inferior vena cava and hepatic veins(14%-84%).Classical BCS presents with acute abdominal pain,ascites,and ***-BCS presents with chronic abdominal pain and abdominalwall *** neoplasms(MPN)are the most common etiology of classical BCS(16%-62%)with the JAK2v617-F mutation found in 26%-52%.In HvCBCS,MPN are found in 4%-5%,and the JAK2v617-F mutation in 2%-5%.Classical BCS responds well to medical management alone and 1st line management of HvC-BCS involves percutaneous recanalization,with few managed with medical management ***:Systematic review of recent data suggests that classical BCS and HvC-BCS may be two clinically different disorders that involve the disruption of hepatic venous outflow.

BACKGROUND:This prospective,randomized trial was undertaken to evaluate the utility of adding end-tidal capnometry(ETC)to pulse oximetry(PO)in patients undergoing procedural sedation and analgesia(PSA)in the emergency department(ED).METHODS:The patients were randomized to monitoring with or without ETC in addition to the current standard of *** endpoints included respiratory adverse events,with secondary endpoints of level of sedation,hypotension,other PSA-related adverse events and patient ***:Of 986 patients,501 were randomized to usual care and 485 to additional ETC *** this series,48%of the patients were female,with a mean age of 46 *** manipulations(71%),cardioversion(12%)and abscess incision and drainage(12%)were the most common procedures,and propofol and fentanyl were the sedative/analgesic combination used for most *** was no difference in patients experiencing de-saturation(Sa O2ver,patients in the ETC group were more likely to require airway repositioning(12.9%vs.9.3%,P=0.003).Hypotension(SBPved in 16(3.3%)patients in the ETC group and 7(1.4%)in the control group(P=0.048).CONCLUSIONS:The addition of ETC does not appear to change any clinically significant *** found an increased incidence of the use of airway repositioning maneuvers and hypotension in cases where ETC was *** do not believe that ETC should be recommended as a standard of care for the monitoring of patients undergoing PSA.

OBJECTIvE Glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) receptor agonists,such as exendin-4,are being developed for the treatment of type-2 diabetes and ***,treatment with exendin-4 is associated with nausea and sometimes ***, we demonstrated that exendin-4 could lower blood glucose levels,induce emesis and c-fos in Sunus *** the present studies, we examine the glucose-lowering and emetic action of exendin-4 in the *** Glucose tolerance test:Male ferrets (1.2 -2.0 kg) were anaesthetized using pentobarbitone(40 mg·kg,i.p.).Then,they were injected with exendin(9 -39)(300 nmol·kg,s.c.) or saline(0.5 ml·kg,s.c.).15 min later,exendin-4(30 nmol·kg,s.c.) or saline(0.5 ml·kg,s.c.) were injected,followed by a glucose load(1.5g·kg,i.p.).Blood glucose levels were measured for up to 120 min.I.C.v study:A guide cannula was implanted into the 3rd ventricle of male ferrets(1.2 - 2.0 kg) under general *** days later,they were injected with exendin-4(0.3-30 nmol,i.c.v.) or saline(15 pi,i.c.v.) and behaviour was recorded for 1 *** Prior to drug administration,the basal blood glucose level was 5.2±0.4 mmol·*** administration of glucose caused a progressive elevation of blood glucose in the saline-treated animals,which peaked at 30 min before decreasing ***-4 produced a 36.3%reduction in the AUC values(Pvalues by 31.0%(Pv,induced 88.2±48.7 retches and 11.6±6.8 vomits in 14.8±9.2 episodes,following a median latency of 14.9 min(Pv,inhibited food intake(Pvolved in emesis and feeding,and in modulating blood glucose levels in the ferret.

We investigate the magnetism of a previously unexplored distorted spin-1/2 kagome model consisting of three symmetry-inequivalent nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic Heisenberg couplings J_(■),J,and J′,and uncover a rich ground state phase diagram even at the classical *** analytical arguments and numerical techniques we identify a collinear Q^(→)=0 magnetic phase,two unusual non-collinear coplanar Q^(→)=(1/3,1/3)phases and a classical spin liquid phase with a degenerate manifold of non-coplanar ground states,resembling the jammed spin liquid phase found in the context of a bond-disordered kagome *** further show with density functional theory calculations that the recently synthesized Y-kapellasite Y_(3)Cu_(9)(OH)_(19)C_(l8) is a realization of this model and predict its ground state to lie in the region of Q^(→)=(1/3,1/3)order,which remains stable even after the inclusion of quantum fluctuation effects within variational Monte Carlo and pseudofermion functional renormalization *** presented model opens a new direction in the study of kagome antiferromagnets.

Objective:To investigate the contraceptive effect of intratesticular injection of chlorhexidine gluconate in dogs and compare it with that of zinc gluconate neutralized with ***:Twenty-four sexually mature male mongrel dogs were randomly divided by replicate into four groups(n=6 per group).GroupⅡreceived intra-testicular injection of 2 mL zinc gluconate(10 mg/mL)neutralized with ***Ⅱreceived intratesticular injection of 2 mL chlorhexidine gluconate(5%w/v).GroupⅢreceived intratesticular injection of 2 mL chlorhexidine gluconate(4%w/v).GroupⅣdid not receive any treatment and served as the control *** morphometry was conducted on day 0,7,15 and 30 after *** was collected and evaluated on day 0 and *** were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of ***:There was no difference in the mean values of various parameters between dogs treated with zinc gluconate and those treated with chlorhexidine gluconate at any of the time *** dogs treated with zinc gluconate or chlorhexidine gluconate,there was a significant increase in the testicular morphometric parameters on day 7 followed by a significant reduction thereafter(day 15 and 30).In contrast,there was no change in any of the parameters in the control untreated dogs during the course of the *** to the pre-treatment values,the mean scrotal circumference and the mean paired testicular volume and testicular weight on day 30 were significantly lower in the treated *** samples collected on day 30 from treated dogs were found to be azoospermic,whereas no change in semen quality was observed in the control untreated ***:Intratesticular injection of chlorhexidine gluconate(5%w/v and 4%w/v)is equally as effective as zinc gluconate neutralized with arginine for chemical contraception in dogs.
