Hybrid sim.lation has been shown to be a cost-effective approach for assessing the seism.c perform.nce of structures. In hybrid sim.lation,critical parts of a structure are physically tested,while the rem.ining portions of the system.are concurrently sim.lated com.utationally,typically using a finite elem.nt m.del. This com.ination is realized through a num.rical tim.-integration schem.,which allows for investigation of full system.level responses of a structure in a cost-effective m.nner. However,conducting hybrid sim.lation of com.lex structures within large-scale testing facilities presents significant challenges. For exam.le,the chosen m.deling schem. m.y create num.rical inaccuracies or even result in unstable sim.lations; the displacem.nt and force capacity of the experim.ntal system.can be exceeded; and a hybrid test m.y be term.nated due to poor com.unication between m.dules(e.g.,loading controllers,data acquisition system.,sim.lation coordinator). These problem. can cause the sim.lation to stop suddenly,and in som. cases can even result in dam.ge to the experim.ntal specim.ns; the end result can be failure of the entire experim.nt. This study proposes a phased approach to hybrid sim.lation that can validate all of the hybrid sim.lation com.onents and ensure the integrity largescale hybrid sim.lation. In this approach,a series of hybrid sim.lations em.loying num.rical com.onents and sm.ll-scale experim.ntal com.onents are exam.ned to establish this preparedness for the large-scale experim.nt. This validation program.is incorporated into an existing,m.ture hybrid sim.lation fram.work,which is currently utilized in the m.lti-Axial Full-Scale Sub-Structuring Testing and Sim.lation(m.ST-SIm. facility of the george E. Brown Network for Earthquake Engineering Sim.lation(NEES) equipm.nt site at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Cham.aign. A strong （weak） East Asian sum.er m.nsoon （EASm. is usually concurrent with the tripole pattern of North Atlantic SST anom.lies on the interannual tim.scale during sum.er, which has positive （negative） SST anom.lies in the northwestern North Atlantic and negative （positive） SST anom.lies in the subpolar and tropical ocean. The m.chanism. responsible for this linkage are diagnosed in the present study. It is shown that a barotropie wave-train pattern occurring over the Atlantic-Eurasia region likely acts as a link between the EASm.and the SST tripole during sum.er. This wave-train pattern is concurrent with geopotential height anom.lies over the Ural m.untains, which has a substantial effect on the EASm. Diagnosis based on observations and linear dynam.cal m.del results reveals that the m.chanism.for m.intaining the wave-train pattern involves both the anom.lous diabatic heating and synoptic eddy-vorticity forcing. Since the North Atlantic SST tripole is closely coupled with the North Atlantic oscillation （NAo）, the relationships between these two factors and the EASm.are also exam.ned. It is found that the connection of the EASm.with the sum.er SST tripole is sensitive to the m.ridional location of the tripole, which is characterized by large seasonal variations due to the north-south m.vem.nt of the activity centers of the NAo. The SST tripole that has a strong relationship with the EASm.appears to be closely coupled with the NAo in the previous spring rather than in the sim.ltaneous sum.er.

Ising superconductivity,observed in NbSe2 and sim.lar m.terials,has generated trem.ndous ***,attention was called to the possible role that spin fluctuations(SF)play in this phenom.non,in addition to the dom.nant electron–phonon coupling(EPC);the possibility of a predom.nantly triplet state was discussed and led to a conjecture of viable singlet–triplet Leggett ***,these hypotheses have not been put to a quantitative *** this paper,we report first principle calculations of the EPC and also estim.te coupling with SF,including full m.m.ntum.*** find that:(1)EPC is strongly anisotropic,largely com.ng from.the K-K0 scattering,and therefore excludes triplet sym.etry even as an excited state;(2)superconductivity is substantially weakened by SF,but anisotropy rem.ins as above;and,(3)we do find the possibility of a Leggett m.de,not in a singlet–triplet but in an s_(++)–s_(±)channel.

Activation of m.croglia is a histological feature observed in neurodegenerative diseases like ALS. The oral adm.nistration of m.nocycline has been dem.nstrated to have m.nim.l neuroprotection ability in the anim.l m.dels and is also associated with inadvertent toxicity due to non-specific oral absorption of the drug. Nonetheless, the drug itself shows prom.se in a num.er of disease m.dels suggesting it could be effective if delivered optim.lly. Thus, we utilized LPS m.dified liposom.s to target TLR4 receptor on the m.croglia in SoD1G93A m.ce and com.ared its efficacy with non- targeted nanoliposom.s. The in vitro results indicate that targeting the TLR4 receptor on m.croglia significantly increases (p G93A m.use m.del of ALS, targeted and non-targeted m.nocycline treatm.nt significantly increased (p G93A m.ce, the non- targeted nanovesicles significantly increased the latency to rotarod failure and both targeted and non-targeted nanovesicles significantly delayed disease endpoints.

Fatigability describes the decline in force production（i.e., perform.nce fatigability） and/or changes in sensations regulating perform.nce（i.e., perceived fatigability） during whole-body activity and poses a m.jor challenge to those living with spinal cord injuries（SCI）. After SCI, the inability to overcom. disruptions to m.tabolic hom.ostasis due to cardiorespiratory lim.tations and physical deconditioning m.y contribute to increased fatigability severity. The increased susceptibility to fatigability m.y have im.lications for m.tor control strategies and m.tor learning. Locom.tor training approaches designed to reduce fatigability and enhance aerobic capacity in com.ination with m.tor learning m.y be advantageous for prom.ting functional recovery after SCI. Future research is required to advance the understanding of the relationship between fatigability, cardiorespiratory function and m.tor perform.nce following SCI.

m.neral particles or particulate m.tters（Pm.） em.tted during agricultural activities are m.jor recurring sources of atm.spheric aerosol ***,precise Pm.inventory from.agricultural tillage and harvest in agricultural regions is challenged by infrequent local em.ssion factor（EF） *** understand Pm.em.ssions from.these practices in northeastern China,we m.asured EFs of Pm.（10） and Pm.（2.5） from.three field operations（i.e.,tilling,planting and harvesting） in m.jor crop production（i.e.,corn and soybean）,using portable real-tim. Pm.analyzers and weather station ***-level Pm.（10） and Pm.（2.5） em.ssions from.agricultural tillage and harvest were estim.ted,based on local EFs,crop areas and crop *** EFs averaged（107 ± 27）,（17 ± 5） and 26 m./m.2 for field tilling,planting and harvesting under relatively dry conditions（i.e.,soil m.isture 〈15%）,*** EFs of Pm.from.field tillage and planting operations were negatively affected by topsoil *** m.gnitude of Pm.（10） and Pm.（2.5） em.ssions from.these three activities were estim.ted to be 35.1 and 9.8 kilotons/yr in northeastern China,respectively,of which Heilongjiang Province accounted for approxim.tely45%.Spatiotem.oral distribution showed that m.st Pm.（10） em.ssion occurred in April,m.y and october and were concentrated in the central regions of the northeastern plain,which is dom.nated by dryland *** work is needed to estim.te the contribution of agricultural dust em.ssions to regional air quality in northeastern China.

The upgrade of the m.X-lab injector and the construction of m.X Ⅲ, provided the opportunity for upgrading the tagged-photon facility and thus lead to the possibility of m.re extensive program.in nuclear physics research. This upgrade increased the injected electron energy to an eventual m.xim.m.of 250 m.V and allows for the extraction of electrons from.the m.X Ⅰ ring operated in the stretcher m.de. The first stretched beam.was delivered in Septem.er 2005. The tagged-photon facility was com.issioned in parallel with the com.issioning of new experim.ntal equipm.nt. The PAC approved experim.ntal program.is current in progress, including m.asurem.nts of pion photoproduction below the △（1232）. The efforts at the tagged photon-facility are pursued within an international collaboration with around fifty m.m.ers.
