Earth tempering of stable air has attracted great attention as a sustainable air conditioning method in pig houses. At summer time air cooling of income air strongly reduces heat stress and required ventilation rate. At winter time heating costs can be reduced. The effect of air condition using geothermal energy was investigated in a farrowing house. Underneath the foundation of the farrowing house 88 non perforated ribbed tubes (diameter: 20 cm) were piped in a depth of 1.6-2.0 m. Over a period of 12 month following data were recorded at hourly intervals and analyzed: outside air temperature, as well as air temperature in the air supply duct and in the compartments. Incoming air (supply duct) was heated up to 20 °C during winter time and in summer time cooled by up to 15 °C compared to the outside air temperature. In contrast to the outside air diurnal variation, temperature fluctuations of the incoming air were reduced by 90%. Due to cooling of the incoming air at summer time the stable inside temperature could be limited to maximal 29 °C (maximum outside temperature was 35 °C). Earth-tube heat exchangers with non perforated ribbed tubes were very efficient for air conditioning in farrowing houses. They were a cost effective supplement for sustainable cooling and heating of farrowing houses.

Less attention has been given to soil enzymes that contribute to beneficial rhizosphere interactions in intercropping ***,we performed a field experiment by growing faba bean,lupine,and maize in mono and mixed cultures in a moderately fertile *** measured shoot biomass and the kinetic parameters(maximal velocity(V max)and Michaelis-constant(K m))of three key enzymes in the rhizosphere:Leucine-aminopeptidase(LAP),β-1,4-N-acetylglucosaminidase(NAG),and phosphomonoesterase(PHO).Faba bean benefitted in mixed cultures by greater shoot biomass production with both maize and lupine compared to its expected biomass in ***,LAP and NAG kinetic parameters were less responsive to mono and mixed cultures across the crop *** contrast,both the V max and K m values of PHO increased in the faba bean rhizosphere when grown in mixed cultures with maize and lupine.A positive relative interaction index for shoot P and N uptake for faba bean showed its net facilitative interactions in the mixed ***,these results suggest that over-productivity in intercropping is crop-specific and the positive intercropping effects could be modulated by P *** argue that the enzyme activities involved in nutrient cycling should be incorporated in further research.

The habitat structure and floristic composition examined for this study are of great importance, providing a scientific baseline of information for developing a biodiversity database and in supporting crucial information for the management decision-making process of the buffer zones. The primary objective of this study was to examine the current status of species composition and stand structure of moist evergreen forests distributed in the TNR buffer zone. Forest inventory was conducted in the primary moist evergreen forest (~1 ha) and secondary moist evergreen forest (~1 ha). In the TNR buffer zone, 83 species belonging to 31 families in the primary moist evergreen forest and 86 species belonging to 32 families in the secondary moist evergreen forest were found. The most dominant families in the primary moist evergreen forest were Dipterocarpaceae, Sapindaceae, Meliaceae, Myrtaceae, and Myristicaceae;at species level;this forest was composed of Nephelium lappaceum, Myristica malabarica, Nephelium laurium, Aglaia andamanica, and Diospyros peregrine. Optical, cathodoluminescence and transmission electron microscope (TEM)analyses were conducted on four groups of calcite fault rocks, a cataclastic limestone, cataclasticcoarse-grained marbles from two fault zones, and a fractured mylonite. These fault rocks showsimilar microstructural characteristics and give clues to similar processes of rock *** are characterized by the structural contrast between macroscopic cataclastic (brittle) andmicroscopic mylonitic (ductile) microstructures. Intragranular deformation microstructures (*** twins, kink bands and microfractures) are well preserved in the deformed grains inclasts or in primary rocks. The matrix materials are of extremely fine grains with diffusivefeatures. Dislocation microstructures for co-existing brittle deformation and crystalline plasticitywere revealed using TEM. Tangled dislocations are often preserved at the cores of highly deformedclasts, while dislocation walls form in the transitions to the fine-grained matrix materials andfree dislocations, dislocation loops and dislocation dipoles are observed both in the deformedclasts and in the fine-grained matrix materials. Dynamic recrystallization grains from subgrainrotation recrystallization and subsequent grain boundary migration constitute the major parts of thematrix materials. Statistical measurements of densities of free dislocations, grain sizes ofsubgrains and dynamically recrystallized grains suggest an unsteady state of the rock *** and cathodoluminescence analyses prove that fluid activity is one of the major partsof faulting processes. Low-temperature plasticity, and thereby induced co-existence of macroscopicbrittle and microscopic ductile microstructures are attributed to hydrolytic weakening due to theinvolvement of fluid phases in deformation and subsequent variation of rock rheology. Composite materials having lamellar structure are known to have a good combination of high strength and ductility. They are widely used in the fields of automobiles, civil engineering and construction, machines and many other industries. An application of lamellar microstructure for developing ultra-high strength steel wires was studied and discussed. Based on the experimental results, the relationships between the strength increase and microstructure development during the cold wire drawing were studied to reveal the strengthening mechanism. As cold drawing proceeds, the wire strength extremely increases, the microstructure changes from large single crystal lamellar structure to very fine polycrystalline lamellar one which has nano-sized grains, high dislocation density and amorphous regions. From the results obtained, it is concluded that heavy cold drawing technique is an effective method for lamellar composite to get high strength wires. Furthermore, formation process of the best microstructure for producing the ultra-high strength wires was also discussed.

Alcoholic liver disease(ALD) is the second most common diagnosis among patients undergoing liver transplantation(LT).The recovery results of patients transplanted for ALD are often at least as good as those of patients transplanted for other diagnoses and better than those suffering from hepatitis C virus, cryptogenic cirrhosis, or hepatocellular *** case of medically non-responding patients with severe acute alcoholic hepatitis or acute-on chronic liver failure, the refusal of LT is often based on the lack of the required alcohol abstinence period of six *** obligatory abidance of a period of abstinence as a transplant eligibility requirement for medically non-responding patients seems unfair and inhumane, since the majority of these patients will not survive the six-month abstinence *** from various studies have challenged the 6-mo rule, while excellent survival results of LT have been observed in selected patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis not responding to medical *** with severe advanced ALD should have legal access to *** mere lack of pre-LT abstinence should not be an obstacle for being listed.

Like for most parts of High Asia,researches concerning the Pleistocene landscape evolution of the Leh Basin(34°03' N/77°38' E) have also left *** push this topic,three up to now unexplored Ladakh Range tributaries of the Leh Basin(Stagmo-,Arzu-and Nang-Valley) have been investigated.U-shaped profiles,transfluence passes,moraine mantled and glacially rounded peaks and ridges,roches moutonnées,glacial flank polishings and ground moraines document the former glaciation of the study *** ice fillings of these tributaries reached a minimum thickness up to 540 *** at the valley outlets and on the orographic right side of the Leh Basin,the glaciation was more than 350 m *** on these empirically extracted results,theoretical snow line considerations lead to the conclusion that the whole Leh Basin was filled up by a former Indus-Valley *** ice injection limited to the nourishment areas of the Ladakh Range valleys could not have caused the reconstructed ice cover(down to 3236 m a.s.l.),which is proved by extended ground moraine *** an Indus ice stream network(most likely during the LGP),nourished by inflowing glaciers of the Ladakh-and Stok Range,explains the widespread existence of the glacial sediments at the outlets of the investigated valleys.
