In this study a series of CH adsorption experiments on clay-rich rocks were conducted at 35℃,50℃and 65℃and at CH pressure up to 15 MPa under dry *** clay-dominated rock samples used are fresh samples from quarries and *** are individually dominated by montmorillonite,kaolinite, illite,chlorite,and interstratified illite/*** experimental results show that clay mineral type greatly affects CH sorption capacity under the experimental *** terms of relative CH sorption capacity:montmorillonite >> illite/smectite mixed layer>kaolinite>chlorite>*** is the dominant process for CH absorption on clay minerals,as a result,there is a linear correlation between CH sorption capacity and BET surface area in these clay-mineral dominated *** abundance of micro-mesopores in the size range of a few to a few 10 s of nanometers in montmorillonite clay and illite-smectite interstratified clay results in large BET surface area values for these mineral species. A good linear relationship between the natural logarithm of Langmuir constant and the reciprocal of temperature exists for clay-mineral dominated rocks,which provides a way to quantify the impact of clay mineral type on gas adsorption *** parameters,the heat of CH adsorption and the standard entropy,are calculated based on this linear *** heat of adsorption(q) and the standard entropy(△s) range from 9.4 to 16.6 kJ/mol and from -64.8 to -79.5 J/mol/K,respectively,values considerably smaller than those for CH adsorption on ***,it is expected that CH molecules may preferentially occupy surface sites on organic matter,in addition,the clay minerals are easily blocked by *** a consequence,organic-rich mudrocks possess a larger CH sorption capacity than clay-dominated rocks lacking organic matter.

本研究选择川西高原、天山和西伯利亚Kurtak剖面的黄土古土壤样品及亚热带非风成样品进行CBD处理,系统测量并对比处理前后的磁学参数,包括低频磁化率、频率磁化率、非磁滞剩磁、饱和等温剩磁、剩磁矫顽力和热磁曲线(J-T曲线),分析处理前后磁性矿物种类、含量和磁畴的变化.结果表明,CBD方法对于磁性矿物的溶解并无明显的选择性,在温度与反应时间一定的条件下,磁性矿物的溶出量主要受控于其粒径分布.CBD方法可以非常有效地去除具有更大比表面积的细粒(1μm)磁性矿物外缘,使其粒径变细.CBD处理后磁化率变化存在多种可能,对于成土作用较强的古土壤,CBD方法可以较为准确地提取成土成因的磁性信息;而干旱和过度湿润条件下的风积黄土,不宜使用CBD方法区分原生与次生磁性矿物.

Comparative adsorption behaviors of Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ) on thorium phosphate diphosphate(TPD),i.e.,Th(PO)PO,have been studied using a batch approach and surface complexation model(SCM) in this *** results showed that Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ) adsorption increased to a large extent with the increase in TPD *** p H-dependence was observed in both Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ) adsorption processes,suggesting that inner-sphere complexes(ISCs) were possibly responsible for the adsorption of Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ).Meanwhile,the adsorption of Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ) decreased to a different extent with the increase in ion strength,which was possibly related to outer-sphere complexes and/or ion *** the presence of fulvic acid(FA),the adsorption of Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ) showed high enhancement mainly due to the ternary surface complexes of TPD-FA-Eu and *** SCM showed that one ion exchange(≡SAm/Eu) and two ISCs(≡(XO)Am/Eu NO and ≡(YO)Am/Eu NO) seemed more reasonable to quantitatively describe the adsorption edges of both Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ).Our findings obviously showed that Eu(Ⅲ) could be a good analogue to study actinide behaviors in practical ***,it should be kept in mind that there are still obvious differences between the characteristics of Eu(Ⅲ) and Am(Ⅲ) in some special cases,for instance,the complex ability with organic matter and adsorption affinity to a solid surface.

The orientation of an ocean-bottom-seismometer(OBS) is a critical parameter for analysing three-component seismograms, but it is difficult to estimate because of the uncontrollable OBS posture after its deployment. In this study, we develop a new and effective method to estimate the OBS orientation by fitting the amplitude of direct P wave of teleseismic receiver functions. The reliability of this method is verified using synthetic data and observed waveforms recorded at land seismic stations in Shandong Province, China. Our extensive synthetic tests show that our new method is little affected by a thin sedimentary layer that has a low S-wave velocity.

The first discovery of ultrahigh-pressure coesite in the European Alps 30 years ago led to the inference that a positively buoyant continental crust can be subducted to mantle depth;this had been considered impossible since the advent of the plate tectonics concepts. Although continental subduction is now widely accepted, there remains debate because there is little direct(geophysical) evidence of a link between exhumed coesite at the surface and subducted continental crust at depth. Here we provide the first seismic evidence for continental crust at 75 km depth that is clearly connected with the European crust exactly along the transect where coesite was found at the surface. Our data also provide evidence for a thick suture zone with downward-decreasing seismic velocities, demonstrating that the European lower crust underthrusts the Adriatic mantle. These findings, from one of the best-preserved and long-studied ultrahigh-pressure orogens worldwide, shed decisive new light on geodynamic processes along convergent continental margins.

Q full-waveform inversion based on the viscoacoustic equation

Presently, most full-waveform inversion methods are developed for elastic media and ignore the effect of attenuation. The calculation of the quality factor Q is based on velocity parameter inversion under the assumption of a given Q-model that is obtained by tomographic inversion. However, the resolution of the latter is low and cannot reflect the amplitude attenuation and phase distortion during wave propagation in viscoelastic media. Thus, a Q waveform inversion method is proposed. First, we use standard linear body theory to describe attenuation and then we derive the simplified viscoacoustic equation that characterizes amplitude attenuation and phase distortion. In comparison with conventional equations, the simplifi ed equation involves no memory variables and therefore requires less memory during computation. Moreover, the implementations of the attenuation compensation are easier. The adjoint equation and the corresponding gradient equation with respect to either L2-norm or the zero-lag cross-correlation objective function are then derived and the regularization strategy for overcoming the instability during numerical solution of the adjoint equation is proposed. The Q waveform inversion is developed using the limited-memory Broyden–Fletcher– Goldfarb–Shanno (L-BFGS) iteration method for known velocity. To alleviate the dependence of the waveform inversion on the initial model and overcome cycle skipping to some extent, we adopt multiscale analysis. Furthermore, anti-noise property and double-parameter inversion are assessed based on the results of numerical modeling.

The NdO+technique has been considerably refined in recent years for high-precision measurement of Nd isotope ratios in low-level samples(1-5 ng Nd).As oxygen isotopic compositions may vary significantly with experimental conditions such as filament material,ionization enhancer and the ambient oxygen in the ion source,great"care"should be taken for using correct oxygen isotopic compositions to do the isobaric oxide corrections for the"conventional"Nd O+*** method presented here for Nd O+data reduction and Pr O+interference corrections uses the oxygen isotope composition determined in each cycle of the Nd O+*** that purpose,we measured the small ion signals of150Nd17O+and150Nd18O+with amplifiers equipped with 1012Ωfeedback resistors,and those of Nd16O+ion beams with 1011Ω*** 1012Ωamplifiers facilitates a precise measurement of the very small150Nd17O+and150Nd18O+ion signals and calculation of highly accurate and precise143Nd/144Nd isotope ***143Nd/144Nd ratios for JNdi-1 standards and several whole-rock reference materials determined with the method on 4 ng of Nd loads are consistent with previously reported values within analytical error,with internal and external precision(2 RSE and 2 RSD)of better than 20 and 30 ppm,respectively.

Chemical and isotopic compositions have been measured for N-He-rich bubbling gases discharging from hot springs in the Hainan Island,Southern *** He/He ratios(0.1-1.3 R) indicate the occurrence of a mantle component throughout the island,which has been highly diluted by a crustal radiogenic He *** occurrence of mantle-derived helium is high in the northern island(12%-16%of total He) and gradually decreases towards southern coast(1%-3%of total He).Such a distribution pattern is most likely controlled by the Pleocene-Quaternary volcanic activities in the northern island and groundwater circulation along the deep major *** Ar/Ar and N/Ar ratios suggest that N and Ar of the hot spring gases are mostly ***δC values of CO(-20‰to -27‰) with low concentrations are consistent with the biogenic origin,the combination of He/He andδC suggests a two end-member mixing of mantle and crustal components with CO/He ratios of 2×10 and 8×10,***,the low CO/He ratios(1- 22×10) can not be ascribed in terms of the simple mixing but has to be explained by the addition of radiogenic He and loss of CO by calcite precipitation in the hydrothermal system,which is most likely controlled by the degree of gas-water-rock interaction.

We here present the results of the inverse modeling of crustal S-phases recorded from a 400-km-long seismic profile,with azimuth nearly N30W,from Lianxian,near Hunan Province,to Gangkou Island,near Guangzhou City,Guangdong Province,in the southern margin of South China *** finding in this case is that many shot gathers provided by this wide-angle seismic experiment show relatively strong reflected and refracted S phases,in particular some crustal refractions(Sg waves)and Moho reflections(SmS waves or simply Sm waves).The P-wave velocity structure of the crust and uppermost mantle was already obtained through the interpretation of vertical-component shot ***,with constraints introduced by the P-wave velocity architecture and after picking up S-wave traveltime data on the seismograms,we have obtained the S-velocity model of the crust by adjusting these traveltimes but keeping the geometry of the crustal *** results demonstrate:(1)the average crustal Svelocity is about 3.64 kmis to the northwest of the Wuchuan-Sihui fault,and 3.62 kmis to the southeast of this fault;(2)relatively constant S-velocity of about 3.42 kmis for the upper crust,3.55 kmis for the middle crust and laterally varying shear velocity around 3.82 kmis for the lower crust;(3)correspondingly, VpiVs ratio is 1.73 for the upper crust,1.71 for the middle crust and 1.74 for the lower *** shear velocities and Vp]Vs ratio correlate well with the major active faults that break the study area,and show significant changes especially in the upper *** Poisson’s ratio(1.8)is observed at shallow depth beneath the Minzhong depression to the southeast of the Wuchuan-Sihui fault and the Huiyuan depression in the southern margin of South China *** contrast,a very low V/V ratio(1.6g) is observed between g and 14 km depth beneath *** deeper depth,a high Vp/Vs ratio(1.76)is observed in the lower crust beneath the Minzhong depression.
