Development and Deformation Characteristics of Large Ancient Landslides in the Intensely Hazardous Xiongba-Sela Section of the Jinsha River, Eastern Tibetan Plateau, China

The upstream Jinsha River,located in the eastern Tibetan Plateau,has been experiencing intense geological hazards characterized by a high density of ancient landslides,significant deformation and reactivation *** this study,remote sensing interpretation,field investigations,and Small Baseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(SBAS-InSAR)technologies have been *** a 17 km stretch of the Jinsha River,specifically in the Xiongba-Sela segment,16 large-scale ancient landslides were identified,9 of which are currently undergoing creeping ***,the Sela and Xiongba ancient landslides exhibit significant deformation,with a maximum deformation rate of-192 mm/yr,indicating a high level of sliding *** volume of the Sela ancient landslide is estimated to be 1.8×108 to 4.5×108 m3,and characterized by extensive fissures and long-term creeping *** SBAS-InSAR results revealed significant spatial variations in the deformation of the Sela ancient landslide,generally displaying two secondary zones of intense deformation,and landslide deformation exhibits nonlinear behavior with *** January 2016 and February 2022,Zone III1 on the southwest side of the Sela ancient landslide,experienced a maximum cumulative deformation of-857 mm,with a maximum deformation rate of-108 mm/*** III2,on the northeast side of the Sela ancient landslide,the maximum cumulative deformation was-456 mm,with a maximum deformation rate of-74 mm/yr;among these,the H2 and H4 secondary bodies on the south side of III1 are in the accelerative deformation stage and at the Warn warning *** propose that the large-scale flood and debris flow disasters triggered by the Baige landslide-dammed lake-dam broken disaster chain in Tibetan Plateau during October and November 2018 caused severe erosion at the foot of downstream *** far-field triggering effect accelerated the creep of the downstream ancient ***,the defo

Late Cambrian Magmatic Events in SW Yunnan and Implications for the Tectonic Reconstruction of Northern Gondwana

In this study, we investigated Early Paleozoic magmatic rocks of the Manlai Formation exposed along the eastern margin of the Lancang terrane to better understand the tectonic history of the Proto-Tethys. We present petrological, geochemical and whole-rock Sr-Nd and zircon Hf isotopic data for basalts and gabbros sampled from the Qianmai mélange. Zircon grains from six basaltic and gabbroic samples yielded U-Pb ages of 495–482 Ma. These rocks are characterized by tholeiitic and Nbenriched compositions, with Nb/La ratios in the range of 0.38–1.38, similar to the typical Nb-enriched basalts. All the mafic rocks show slightly negative to positive εNd（t）(-1.67 to+4.32) and zircon εHf（t） values（-7.3 to +3.8）. Elemental and isotopic data suggest that the Qianmai Nb-enriched mafic rocks were mainly derived from the mixing of an OIB-like source with a subduction-modified mantle wedge source. Together with magmatic and sedimentary records of similar ages in the Lancang terrane and the Baoshan Block, our results reveal Early Paleozoic magmatic and sedimentary sequences along an active margin of the Proto-Tethys. Taking into account the recently identified Early Paleozoic ophiolitic mélange in the Yunxian-Menghai belt, we consider the Qianmai magmatic rocks to represent the products of early-stage subduction-related magmatism within a primitive island arc or fore-arc setting associated with the southward subduction of the Proto-Tethys. We infer that prolonged south-dipping subduction on the northern margin of Gondwana persisted from the Cambrian to the Late Ordovician.

Temporal and spatial variations hydrochemical components and driving factors in Baiyangdian Lake in the Northern Plain of China

Understanding the temporal and spatial variation of hydrochemical components in large freshwater lakes is crucial for effective management and *** this study,we identify the temporalspatial characteristics and driving factors of the hydrochemical components in Baiyangdian Lake using geochemical methods(Gibbs diagram,Piper diagram and End-element diagram of ion ratio)and multivariate statistical techniques(Principal component analysis and Correlation analysis).16 sets of samples were collected from Baiyangdian Lake in May(normal season),July(flood season),and December(dry season)of *** indicate significant spatial variation in Nat,ci,SO and NO,,suggesting a strong influence of human *** concentrations exhibit greater seasonal variation in the dry season compared to the flood season,while the concentrations of the four anions show inconsistent seasonal changes due to the combined effects of river water chemical composition and human *** hydrochemical type of Baiyangdian Lake is primarily HCO,***,Mg*and HCO,originate mainly from silicate and carbonate rock dissolution,while Kt,Nat and CI originate mainly from sewage and salt dissolution in ***42 may mainly stem from industrial wastewater,while NO,primarily originates from animal feces and domestic *** the use of Principal Component Analysis,it is identified that water-rock interaction(silicate and carbonate rocks dissolution,and dissolution of salt in sediments),carbonate sedimentation,sewage,agricultural fertilizer and manure,and nitrification are the main driving factors of the variation of hydrochemical components of Baiyangdian Lake across three hydrological *** findings suggest the need for effective control of substandard domestic sewage discharge,optimization of agricultural fertilization strategies,and proper management of animal manure to comprehensively improve the water environment in Baiyangdian Lake.

Diversity, Ecology, and Environmental Significance of Foraminifera in Al Hamama and Susah Coastal Regions, Northeastern Libya: Insights from Holocene Sediments

This research initiative, conducted along the coastal zones of Al Hamama and Susah in northeastern Libya, aimed to enhance our understanding of Holocene benthic foraminifera assemblages and the paleoenvironmental parameters in the region. We meticulously gathered five sediment samples to analyze the composition of foraminifera populations within the unconsolidated sedimentary deposits adjacent to these locations. We successfully identified nine distinct benthic foraminifera species, including Amphistegina lobifera, Eliphidium crispum, Sigmoilinita tenuis, Sorites orbiculus, Stomatorbina concentrica, Peneroplis planatus, Pseudotriloculina rotunda, Pyrgoella sphaera, and Triloculina schreberiana. Notably, Eliphidium crispum and Amphistegina lobifera emerged as the most prevalent species. These foraminifera species exhibited distinct ecological preferences, shedding light on paleoenvironmental conditions and climatic fluctuations during the Quaternary Period in the Susah and Al Hamama coastal regions. The presence of Orbulina universa, a planktonic foraminifera species, further enriched our understanding of the paleoenvironment by providing insights into specific water depths and temperature ranges. This research significantly contributes to paleoceanography and environmental reconstruction, highlighting the invaluable use of foraminifera as proxies for exploring past environmental changes. Additionally, the study investigated the impacts of anthropogenic influences on benthic ecosystems in the Al Hamama and Susah coastal areas. These influences included reworked foraminifera specimens and the effects of karst formations, acid rain, and eutrophication. Notably, human-induced factors have visibly affected biogenic fauna and ecosystem dynamics in the study area. It is well established that Cretaceous magmatism in the South China Block(SCB)is related to the Paleo-Pacific ***,the starting time and the associated deep crust-mantle processes are still *** dike swarms carry important information on the deep earth(including mantle)geodynamics and geochemical *** the Jiangnan Orogen(South China).there is no information on whether the Mesozoic magmatic activities in this region are also directly related to the Pacific subduction or *** this study,we present detailed zircon U-Pb geochronological,wholerock element and Sr-Nd isotope data for Early Cretaceous Tuanshanbei dolerite dikes,and provide new constraints on the condition of the lithospheric mantle and mantle dynamics of the SCB during that ***-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating suggests that this dolerite erupted in the Early Cretaceous(~145 Ma).All samples have alkaline geochemical affinities with K_(2)O+Na_(2)O=3.11-4.04 wt%,K_(2)O/Na_(2)O=0.50-0.72,and Mg^(#)=*** are enriched in LILE but depleted in HFSE with higher initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratio(0.706896-0.714743)and lower ε_(Nd)(t)(-2.61 to-1.67).They have high Nb/U,Nb/La,La/Sm and Rb/Sr,and low La/Nb,La/Ta,Ce/Pb,Ba/Rb,Tb/Yb and Gd/Yb *** geochemical signatures suggest that the fractional crystallization is obvious but crustal contamination play a negligible role during magmatic *** dolerite were most likely derived from low-degree(2%-5%)partial melting of a phlogopite-bearing mantle material consisted of~85% spinel peridotite and~15% garnet peridotite previously metasomatized by asthenospherederived fluids/melts with minor subduction-derived fluids/***-rollback generally lead to the upwelling of the hot *** upwelling of asthenosphere consuming the lithospheric mantle by thermo-mechanical-chemical *** lithospheric mantle may have partially melted due to the heating by the upwelling asthenosphere and lithospheric extension.I

Numerical study of directional heat transfer in composite materials via controllable carbon fiber distribution

Carbon fiber reinforced polyamide 12(CF/PA12),a new material renowned for its excellent mechanical and thermal properties,has drawn significant industry *** the steady-state research to heat transfer,a series of simulations to investigate the heat transfer properties of CF/PA12 were conducted in this ***,by building two-and three-dimensional models,the effects of the porosity,carbon fiber content,and arrangement on the heat transfer of CF/PA12 were examined.A validation of the simulation model was carried out and the findings were consistent with those of the ***,the simulation results using the above models showed that within the volume fraction from 0% to 28%,the thermal conductivity of CF/PA12 increased greatly from 0.0242 W/(m·K)to 10.8848 W/(m·K).The increasing porosity had little influence on heat transfer characteristic of CF/*** direction of the carbon fiber arrangement affects the heat transfer impact,and optimal outcomes were achieved when the heat flow direction was parallel to the carbon *** research contributes to improving the production methods and broadening the application scenarios of composite materials.

The genesis and resource potential of gold deposits in the Liaodong Peninsula

Plenty of gold deposits related to Late Mesozoic craton destruction are widely distributed in eastern North China Craton. However, significant differences in research degrees, ore-forming characteristics, and proven reserves exist among different regions in the North China Craton. The Liaodong Peninsula has similar regional geological characteristics to those of the Jiaodong Peninsula, with both experiencing craton destruction during Late Mesozoic, but the two areas have substantial differences in terms of gold mineralization and the proven gold resources. Based on regional geology, Mesozoic magmatictectonic evolution and ore geology, combined with integrated geophysical exploration and big data AI resource prediction, in this paper, we propose that the ore-forming materials of Late Mesozoic gold deposits in Liaodong were mainly originated from mantle-derived melts and/or fluids induced by craton destruction. The gold deposits were primarily controlled by NE-NNEtrending faults, mainly classified as fracture-controlled altered rock-type and sulfide-bearing quartz vein-type. Moreover, our study predicts that the Yalu River fault zone and its related secondary faults, as well as the periphery and deeper parts of known goldfields, are the important regions for future gold resource exploration. The Yalu River metallogenic belt has an enormous potential for gold resources, and the Liaodong Peninsula has a potential to add thousands of tons of gold resources.
