A survey addressing the uses of bismuth oxide in photocatalysis is presented. The richness of literature on such a specific topic proves the growing importance of this compound as a valid tool in pollution abatement and environmental decontamination. Many research groups have focused their activity on how to improve the photocatalytic properties of this semiconductor and several solutions have been adopted in the synthesis method, often based on wet-chemical processes. The impressive development of nanoscience helped in understanding and identifying process variables and operative conditions aiming at optimizing the yield of this promising photocatalytic material in the utilization of solar energy.

Differentiated thyroid carcinoma(DTC) generally has a favorable *** disease,treatments,stress,and comorbidity can compromise health-related quality of life(QoL) and indirectly weigh upon the outcome. The lack of experimental data and / or limited experimental information concerning both surface and transport properties of liquid alloys often require the prediction of these quantities. An attempt has been made to link the thermophysical properties of a ternary Cu-Sn-Ti system and its binary Cu-Sn, Cu-Ti and SnoTi subsystems with the bulk through the study of the concentration dependence of various thermodynamic, structural, surface and dynamic properties in the frame of the statistical mechanical theory in conjunction with the quasi-lattice theory （QLT）. This formalism provides valuable qualitative insight into mixing processes that occur in molten alloys.

Taxane efficacy in triple negative breast cancer(TNBC)is limited by insufficient tumor accumulation and severe off-target *** offer a unique opportunity to enhance the anti-cancer potency of this ***,1,000 nm×400 nm discoidal polymeric nanoconstructs(DPN)encapsulating docetaxel(DTXL)and the near infrared compound Iipid-Cy5 were *** were obtained by filling multiple times cylindrical wells in a poly(vinyl alcohol)template with a polymer mixture comprising poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)and poly(ethylene glycol)diacrylate(PEG-DA)chains together with therapeutic and imaging *** resulting“multi-passage”DPN exhibited higher DTXL loading,Iipid-Cy5 stability,and stiffness as compared to the conventional"single-passage"*** microscopy confirmed that DTXL-DPN were not taken up by MDA-MB-231 cells but would rather sit next to the cell membrane and slowly release DTXL *** DPN had no toxicity on TNBC cells,whereas DTXL-DPN presented a cytotoxic potential comparable to free DTXL(IC_(50)=2.6 nM±1.0 nM vs.7.0 nM±1.09 nM at 72 h).In orthotopic murine models,DPN accumulated in TNBC more efficiently than *** only 2 mg/kg DTXL,intravenously administered every 2 days for a total of 13 treatments,DTXL-DPN induced tumor regression and were associated to an overall 80%survival rate as opposed to a 30%survival rate for free-DTXL,at 120 *** untreated mice succumbed before 90 ***,this data demonstrates that vascular confined multi-passage DPN,biomimicking the behavior of circulating platelets,can efficiently deliver chemotherapeutic molecules to malignant tissues and effectively treat orthotopic TNBC at minimal taxane doses.

Right-sided aortic arch with aberrant left subclavian artery (RAA/ALSC) is the second most common mediastinal complete vascular ring. Adult presentation of dysphagia lusoria due to a RAA/ALSC is uncommon with fewer than 25 cases reported in the world literature. The left lateral portion of this vascular ring is not a vessel, but an atretic ductus arteriosus, the ligamentum arteriosum, which has been identified in different cases as the major cause of tracheo-esophageal impingement. Surgical division of the ligamentum arteriosum allows the vessels to assume a less constricting pattern decreasing dysphagic symptoms. Clear visualization of the ligamentum arteriosum by diagnostic imaging has not been obtained in previously reported cases. We demonstrated, using magnetic resonance imaging, the location and the complete course of a left-sided ligamentum arteriosum in a patient with adult-onset dysphagia due to a RAA/ALSC with a small Kommerell' s diverticulum, providing, during the same session, a complete assessment of both mediastinal vascular abnormalities and esophageal impingement sites.
