A new cerite group mineral species,taipingite-(Ce),ideally(Ce7^3+,Ca2)∑9Mg(SiO4)3[SiO3(OH)]4 F3,has been found in the Taipingzhen rare earth element(REE)deposit in the North Qinling Orogen(NQO),Central *** forms subhedral grains(up to approximately 100 μm×200 μm)commonly intergrown with the REE mineral assemblages and is closely associated with allanite-(Ce),gatelite-(Ce),tornebohmite-(Ce),fluocerite-(Ce),fluocerite-(La),fluorite,bastnasite-(Ce),parisite-(Ce)and ***-(Ce)is light red to pinkish brown under a binocular microscope and pale brown to colorless in thin section,and it is translucent to transparent with a grayish-white streak and vitreous *** mineral is brittle with conchoidal fracture;has a Mohs hardness value of approximately 51/2 and exhibits no cleavage twinning or *** calculated density is 4.900(5)g/***,taipingite-(Ce)is uniaxial(+),withω=1.808(5),ε=1.812(7),c=ε,and a=b=ω.Furthermore,this mineral is insoluble in HCl,HNO3 and H2 *** microprobe analysis demonstrated that the sample was relatively pure,yielding the empirical formula(with calculated H2 O):(Ce4.02La1.64Nd1.49Pr0.41Sm0.10Gd0.02Ho0.02Tm0.01Lu0.02Y0.03Ca0.66Mg0.05Th(0.01-0.51∑9(Mg0.75Fe0.253+)∑1(SiO4)3{[SiO3(OH)]3.98[PO3(OH)]0.02}∑4(F1.81OH1.17Cl0.02∑***-(Ce)is trigonal and exhibits space group symmetry R3 c with unit cell parameters a=10.7246(3)Å,c=37.9528(14)Å,V=3780.39(20)Å3 and Z=*** strongest eight lines in the X-ray diffraction pattern are[d in A(I)(hkl)]:4.518(50)(202),3.455(95)(122),3.297(85)(214),3.098(35)(300),2.941(100)(02,10),2.683(65)(220),1.945(40)(238)and 1.754(40)(30,18).The crystal structure has been refined to a R1 factor of 0.025,calculated for the 2312 unique observed reflections(Fo≥4σ).The mineral is named after its discovery locality and is characterized as the F-dominant analogue of cerite-(Ce).

The photodetachment cross section of H- in a linear harmonic oscillator potential is investigated. This system pro- vides a rare example that can be studied analytically by both quantum and semiclassical methods with some approxi- mations. The formulas of the cross section for different laser polarization directions are explicitly derived by both the traditional quantum approach and closed-orbit theory. In the traditional quantum approach, we calculate the cross sections in coordinate representation and momentum representation, and get the same formulas. We compare the quantum formulas with closed-orbit theory formulas, and find that when the detachment electron energy is larger than hco, where co is the frequency of the oscillator potential, the quantum results are shown to be in good agreement with the semiclassical results.

A chert-phosphorite unit from the Sugetbrak section in the Tarim Basin was analyzed for rare earth elements(Ce,Eu),redox sensitive proxies,and carbon isotopic compositions(??13C carb and??13C org)in the lower Yurtus Formation of the Early Cambrian *** sensitive element ratios(Th/U,V/Cr,Ni/Co,and V/Sc)were employed to determine the palaeoenvironmental conditions during this *** ratios indicated that the depositional environment of the chert-phosphorite-black shale unit ranged from suboxic to *** Ce and positive Eu anomalies in the chert-phosphorite assemblages of the studied Yurtus Formation indicated the existence of a redox-stratified ocean,similar to that of South *** or upward expansion of the deep water-mass probably reached the shallow marine zone after the formation of the Yurtus *** characteristics of the negative Ce anomaly may be due to phosphoritic inheritance from the Ce-depleted signature of the overlying water *** hydrothermal inputs and reduced detrital supplies of the deep water caused by the upwelling affected certain redox sensitive elements in the sedimentary basin.??13C carb and??13C org negative excursions in the Yurtus chert-phosphorite unit may be related to a transgression phase when episodic basinal upwelling moved12C-and P-rich waters from the pelagic basin floor to the continental *** carbon isotopic compositions in the Yurtus chert-phosphorite assemblages may have suffered from diagenetic alteration,they can be used to probe diagenetic ***-proxy geochemical studies indicated that the??13C carb values of the Yurtus chert-phosphorite assemblages might be considered reflections of a predominantly suboxic environment that was subsequently affected by hydrothermal inputs due to the upwelling.

Proliferative Brenner Tumor with Borderline Mucinous Cystadenocarcinoma of the Ovary in a 75-Year-Old Woman

We report here an extremely rare case of proliferative Brenner tumor with borderline mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary, metastasizing to the pleura in a 75-year-old woman. Massive pleural effusion were present due to metastasis and pseudo-Meigs’ syndrome. The cytological findings from pleural effusion, ascites and tumor imprint were similar, suggesting mucus-producing malignant tumors. After receiving a thoracic drainage for pleural effusion, the patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy to remove the left-ovarian tumor. Histopathological examination revealed proliferative Brenner ovarian tumor with borderline mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, and immunohistochemical examinations for the tumors, even mucus-rich tumor cells were positive for CK 7 and negative for CK 20, suggesting the tumor arising from transitional cells, not from mucus-producing ovarian surface epithelial tumor cells. She underwent four courses of chemotherapy with paclitaxel and carboplatin. The patient showed no signs of recurrence 16 months after the surgery.
