The authors report a case of hepatic glycogen storage diseases type iii (Cori-Forbes disease) of a Métis 3-year-old girl born and resident in C?te d'Ivoire. The discovery of this disease was made at the age of 2 years in the diagnosis of abdominal mass in a child subject to frequent hypoglycemia. The management currently consists of a diet enriched with glucose and maltose dextrin. We note in our case, a failure to thrive despite the persistent support.

Impact of frailty on postoperative outcomes after hepatectomy:A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The impact of frailty on postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing hepatectomy is still *** To study the influence of frailty on postoperative outcomes,such as mortality,rate of complications,and length of hospitalization,following *** PubMed,EMBASE,and Scopus databases were searched for observational studies with adult(≥18 years)patients after planned/elective hepatectomy.A randomeffects model was used for all analyses,and the results are expressed as weighted mean difference(WMD),relative risk(RR),or hazards ratio(HR)with 95%confidence interval(CI).RESULTS Analysis of the 13 included studies showed a significant association of frailty with elevated risk of in-hospital mortality(RR=2.76,95%CI:2.10-3.64),mortality at 30 d(RR=4.60,95%CI:1.85-11.40),and mortality at 90 d(RR=2.52,95%CI:1.70-3.75)in the postoperative *** patients had a poorer long-term survival(HR=2.89,95%CI:1.84-4.53)and higher incidence of“any”complications(RR=1.69,95%CI:1.40-2.03)and major(grade iii or higher on the Clavien-Dindo scale)complications(RR=2.69,95%CI:1.85-3.92).Frailty was correlated with markedly lengthier hospital stay(WMD=3.65,95%CI:1.45-5.85).CONCLUSION Frailty correlates with elevated risks of mortality,complications,and prolonged hospitalization,which need to be considered in surgical *** research is essential to formulate strategies for improved outcomes in this vulnerable cohort.

Objective: In light of numerous obstetric evacuations to the Point G University Hospital and taking into account the practice of cesarean section for many years in the service, it seemed necessary to us to make our contribution to the study of cesarean section by putting emphasis on maternal and perinatal prognosis in the Obstetric Gynecology Department of the Point G university hospital. Method and materials: We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of the Point G University Hospital, from January 01, 2018 to December 31, 2018. The Point G University Hospital is a 3rd level center of reference in the field of obstetrics in Mali. There is no neonatal ward. The study included all women who gave birth in the gynecology and obstetrics department during the study period. All prophylactic and emergency Caesarean section records during the period in which management took place in the ward were included. The records of patients who had a prophylactic or emergency cesarean section in other health facilities and non-usable records were not included. Data were collected using a pre-established survey form. The variables analyzed were socio-epidemiological, clinical and prognostic. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS software version 16.00. Introduction: Pathologies of the lower urinary tract are common in urology composed of various conditions, responsible for urinary disorders. Despite the new methods, exploration in Africa is mainly based on retrograde urethrocystography (UCR). The main objective was to determine the importance of UCR in the diagnosis of pathologies of the lower urinary tract. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective and descriptive study covering a period of 5 years (July 2016-June 2021). It involved all patients admitted to the ward for retrograde urethrocystography during the period. A remote-controlled table of the GE PRESTILIX 1600× type was used for the examinations. Results: At the end of our study we collected 100 cases of pathologies of the lower urinary tract out of a total of 112 RCUs performed or 89.28%. Pathologies of the lower urinary tract accounted for 78% of the UCRs in the department. The age group of (61 - 70) was the most affected with extremes from 1 year to 101 years. Non-specific urination disorders were the most common indications (43%), followed by acute urine retention (18%). Acquired urethral pathology was the most common (89%), followed by bladder neck disease 5% and posterior urethral valve with 4%, Bladder struggle was the most common associated sign (54%) with post-urination residue in 97% of patients. Conclusion: Pathologies of the lower urinary tract are relatively common in our region, dominated by urethral narrowings. Retrograde urethrocystography remains the reference examination in our control for the diagnosis of obstructive pathologies of the lower urinary tract while specifying the seat of the obstacle.

Introduction: The level of schooling of mothers is a determining factor in the follow-up of pregnancy and consequently the prognosis of childbirth and the quality of the newborn. Objective: The aim was to assess the impact of the level of education on the follow-up of their pregnancy and perinatal prognosis at the Reference Health Centre of Commune V of the District of Bamako. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective, cross-sectional and analytical study aimed descriptive from August 15 to December 15, 2021. We included in this study all pregnant women who had a gestational age of at least 22 weeks of amenorrhea and who gave birth or were received in the immediate postpartum period at the maternity ward of the Reference Health Center of Commune V. Results: Out-of-school parturients accounted for 60% of cases. Among the parturients in school, 18% had a higher level. In our study, 14.3% of women in labour knew the date of the last menstrual period. In our series, 100% of mothers in higher and secondary school had completed an antenatal consultation (CPN) compared to 90.7% in the out-of-school mothers. CPN1 was performed in the first trimester of pregnancy in 21.1% among out-of-school parturients compared to 83.5% among higher-level parturients. The number of NPCs was greater than or equal to 4 in 47.9% of parturients. Conclusion: Women’s schooling has an impact on their socio-economic conditions on the one hand and on the monitoring and prognosis of pregnancies on the other.
