It has been reported that the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway plays a key role in the pathogenesis of ischemic *** a result,the development of drugs targeting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway has attracted increasing attention from *** article reviews the pathological mechanisms and advancements in research related to the signaling pathways in ischemic stroke,with a focus on the PI3K/AKT signaling *** key findings include the following:(1)The complex pathological mechanisms of ischemic stroke can be categorized into five major types:excitatory amino acid toxicity,Ca^(2+)overload,inflammatory response,oxidative stress,and apoptosis.(2)The PI3K/AKT-mediated signaling pathway is closely associated with the occurrence and progression of ischemic stroke,which primarily involves the NF-κB,NRF2,BCL-2,mTOR,and endothelial NOS signaling pathways.(3)Natural products,including flavonoids,quinones,alkaloids,phenylpropanoids,phenols,terpenoids,and iridoids,show great potential as candidate substances for the development of innovative anti-stroke medications.(4)Recently,novel therapeutic techniques,such as electroacupuncture and mesenchymal stem cell therapy,have demonstrated the potential to improve stroke outcomes by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway,providing new possibilities for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with ischemic *** investigations should focus on the direct regulatory mechanisms of drugs targeting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and their clinical translation to develop innovative treatment strategies for ischemic stroke.

BACKGROUND Despite being the most common intraocular malignancy among adults,choroidal melanoma is a rare cancer type,even more so when accompanied by lung *** report a patient with synchronous choroid melanoma and lung cancer treated with carbon ion radiotherapy(CIRT).CASE SUMMARY A 41-year-old woman was transferred to our center with a diagnosis of choroidal melanoma in her right *** the examination,we found a right lung tumor that was histologically diagnosed as lung *** patient was treated with CIRT for both malignant *** CIRT dose was 70 photon equivalent doses(GyE)in five fractions for the right eye choroidal melanoma and 72 GyE in 16 fractions for the right lung *** 3 mo after CIRT,the choroidal melanoma completely disappeared,as did the right lung cancer 7 mo after;the patient was in complete *** CIRT may be an effective treatment for double primary lung cancer and choroid melanoma.

BACKGROUND Radical cystectomy is considered the first choice for the treatment of muscleinvasive bladder ***,for some patients who have lost the indications for surgery,external beam radiotherapy is a non-invasive and effective *** SUMMARY A 76-year-old patient with bladder cancer who had serious comorbidities and could not tolerate surgery or chemotherapy came to the wuwei Heavy Ion *** received carbon ion radiotherapy(CIRT)with a whole-bladder dose of 44 GyE and tumor boost of 20 *** he finished CIRT,his bladder cancer-related hematuria completely disappeared,and computed tomography examination showed that the tumor had obviously decreased in *** the 3-mo follow-up,the tumor disappeared,and there were no acute or late adverse *** was well tolerated in this *** CIRT may allow for avoiding resection and was well tolerated with curative outcomes.

BACKGROUND Although the bystander effect and abscopal effect are familiar in medicine,they are relatively rare in clinical ***,we report the case of a patient who demonstrated an obvious bystander effect and abscopal effect response following carbon-ion irradiation for recurrent thymic *** SUMMARY A 44-year-old female presented with shortness of *** years prior,she was diagnosed with athymic tumor located in the anterosuperior *** underwent extensive tumor resection,and the postoperative pathologic diagnosis was thymic *** was administered 50 Gy/25 Fx of postoperative *** 2019,she was diagnosed with a recurrence of thymic carcinoma,with multiple recurrent nodules and masses in the left thoracic chest and peritoneal cavity,the largest of which was in the diaphragm pleura proximal to the pericardium,with a size of 6.7 cm×5.3 cm×4.8 *** received carbonion *** carbon-ion radiotherapy treatment,the treated masses and the untreated masses were observed to have noticeably shrunk on the day of carbon-ion radiotherapy completion and on follow-up *** followed the CARE Guidelines for consensus-based clinical case reporting guideline development and completed the CARE Checklist of information to report this *** This report is the first of obvious abscopal and bystander effects following carbonion irradiation in a human patient,and further research is needed to better elucidate the mechanisms of bystander and abscopal effects.

Estimation Study of New Cancer Cases and Deaths in wuwei, Hexi Corridor Region, China, 2018

Population-based cancer registration data were collected to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in wuwei, Hexi Corridor Region, China in 2018. We used the 2011-2013 data to predict the number of new cases and deaths in 2018 and the 2003-2013 data to analyze trends in cancer incidence and mortality. The goal is to enable cancer prevention and control directions. Our results indicated that stomach cancer is the most common cancer. For all cancers combined, the incidence and mortality rates showed significantly increasing trends（＋2.63% per year; P 〈 0.05 and ＋1.9% per year; P 〈 0.05）. This study revealed a significant cancer burden among the population of this area. Cancer screening and prevention should be performed after an epidemiological study of the cause of the cancer is completed.

Surveillance recommendations for gastric cancer（GC） in current guidelines focused on advanced precancerous lesions and were based on precise diagnosis of severity/extent of baseline lesions. We aimed to develop a less endoscopy-related equipment-dependent risk-stratification tool, and assessed whether mild-precursor-lesion patients can be safely exempt from surveillance. In the multicenter communitybased cohort, 75,051 participants receiving baseline endoscopy were enrolled during 2015–2017 and followed-up until 2021. Cumulative incidence rates（CIRs） of GC for precancerous-conditions were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method and compared by Log-rank tests. Mixedeffects Cox regression models were used to detect potential factors for progression towards GC. A risk score was calculated as counts of selected factors. An independent cohort, including 26,586 participants was used for external validation. During a median follow-up of 6.25 years, CIRs of GC were 0.302%, 0.436%, and 4.756% for normal group, non-neoplastic（atrophic gastritis/intestinal metaplasia） and neoplastic lesions（low-grade/high-grade dysplasia）, respectively(Ptrend<0.001). Four predictors, including male, ≥60 years, smoking, and limited vegetable consumption, were selected for risk-stratification. High-risk patients（≥3 risk factors） with non-neoplastic lesions showed higher GC risks（adjusted HR=7.73, 95%CI: 4.29–13.92）, and their four-year CIR reached the one-year CIR of neoplastic lesions. Further categorizing non-neoplastic lesions by histological grade, both patients with moderate-to-severe lesions（aHR=3.07, 95%CI: 1.67–5.64） and high-risk patients with mild lesions（aHR=7.29, 95%CI: 3.58–14.86） showed higher risks. Consistent trends were observed in validation cohort. High-risk mild-precursor-lesion patients should receive surveillance within 3–5 years after baseline screening. Our study provides evidence on supplementing current guideline recommendations.

BACKGROUND The imbalance of hormone levels in the body is closely related to the occurrence and progression of schizophrenia,especially thyroid *** To study the relationship between triiodothyronine(T3),thyroxine(T4),free T3(FT3),free T4(FT4),thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)and *** In this study,100 schizophrenia patients were selected from our hospital between April 2022 and April *** clinical data were analyzed *** on the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS)score,patients were divided into mild(1-3 points,n=39),moderate(4 points,n=45),and severe groups(5-7 points,n=16).Additionally,55 healthy individuals served as a control *** blood samples were collected to measure T3,T4,FT3,FT4,TSH,and cortisol concentrations,analyzing their relationship with PANSS *** The serum levels of T3,FT3,FT4,TSH and cortisol in the schizophrenia group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).With the increase of the severity of the disease,the concentrations of T3 and T4 decreased,while the con-centrations of TSH and cortisol increased(P<0.05).The concentrations of TSH and cortisol were positively correlated with the PANSS score,while T3 and T4 were negatively correlated with the PANSS score(P<0.05).The receiver ope-rating characteristic curve results showed that T3,T4,TSH,and cortisol had good efficacy in the diagnosis of *** results showed that decreased T3 level,decreased T4 level,decreased TSH level and increased cortisol level may be independent risk factors for *** Thyroid hormone levels are associated with the severity of schizophrenia symptoms,which can provide new solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia.

The Effect of Blood Lipid Profiles on Chronic Kidney Disease in a Prospective Cohort:Based on a Regression Discontinuity Design
