Do Macroeconomic Determinants of Non-Performing Loans Vary with the Income Levels of Countries?

This paper explores the macroeconomic determinants of non-performing loans(NPL) in 19 Asian countries(low to high income economies) using the Generalized Method of Moments estimation approach based on the economic data for the period between 1998 and 2015. The categorization of the economies is based on the average gross national income per capita as set by the World ***, the paper aims to evaluate if the determinants of NPL vary with the income levels of the countries. The results indicate that the NPL is strongly influenced by the inflation rate. The effect is,however, negative in the high-income and the middle-income countries and positive in the low-income countries. The GDP per capita has a dynamic negative relationship with the NPL in the high-income and the low-income countries. The remittance has a significant positive association in the high-income and a significant negative association in the low-income countries. Similarly, the unemployment rate has a positive effect on NPL in the middle-income and the low-income countries. With the rise in the official exchange rate, the NPL level increases in the low-income countries. The overall estimation results suggest that the NPL in Asian banking system depend on some key macroeconomic variables,such as unemployment rate, inflation rate, official exchange rate, remittance received and gross domestic product per capita, and these associations vary with the income level of the countries. Therefore,economic level of a country should be carefully considered while formulating credit policy to minimize credit risks in the banking system.

For a low permeability single coal seam prone to gas outbursts,pre-drainage of gas is difficult and inefficient,seriously restricting the safety and efficiency of *** measures of increasing gas extraction efficiency are pressure relief and infrared *** have analyzed the effect of mining conditions and the regularity of mine pressure distribution in front of the working face of a major coal mine of the Jiaozuo Industrial(Group) *** our test area,studied the width of the depressurization zone in slice mining and analyzed gas efficiency and fast drainage in the advanced stress relaxation *** that basis,we further investigated and practiced the exploitation technology of shallow drilling,fan drilling and grid shape drilling at the working *** and our results show that the stress relaxation zone is the ideal region for quick and efflcient extraction of *** means of an integrated extraction technology,the amount of gas emitted into the zone was greatly reduced,while the risk of dangerous outbursts of coal and gas was lowered *** exploration provides a new way to control for gas in working faces of coal mines with low permeability and risk of gas outbursts of single coal seams in the Jiaozuo mining area.

＜正＞In the current competitive consumer product market, a great number of products are considered as innovative products. In other words, product innovation is one of the most important competitive factors in the current market condition. Organizations need to consider type and level of innovation carefully when the new products are developed. In the same time, new product development based on current customer preferences is a key to obtaining a larger market share and faster sales growth for organizations in a high technology product market. In this paper, after the consideration of the innovation types in the current market, three factors are introduced to define the product innovation. After the development of three factors, two series of product innovation strategies for high and low level of innovative products in the current technology product market are defined. The introduced factors are level of change, speed of change, and scope of change. Furthermore, this paper examines that this result can be applied to the product positioning as a product development management in the case of innovative product market. Digital camera industry is selected as the sample market to apply this analysis and strategy.

Lewisian Turning Points in China：an EmpiricalApplication of the Minami Criteria

Widespread shortages of migrant labor in China have aroused acrimonious debate about whether the economy has arrived at the Lewisian turning point, which would have significant implications for policymakers. We collected panel data from China's 31 provinces2 over the period 1990 to 2009 and conducted empirical test according to Minami's criteria. Our results indicate that China's economy has passed the first Lewisian turning point but do not provide evidence that China has reached the second Lewisian turning point.
