This paper considers the convergence rate of an asymmetric Deffuant-Weisbuch *** model is composed by finite n interacting *** this model,agent i’s opinion is updated at each time,by first selecting one randomly from n agents,and then combining the selected agent j’s opinion if the distance between j’s opinion and i’s opinion is not larger than the confidence radiusε*** yields the endogenously changing inter-agent *** on the previous result that all agents opinions will converge almost surely for any initial states,the authors prove that the expected potential function of the convergence rate is upper bounded by a negative exponential function of time t when opinions reach consensus finally and is upper bounded by a negative power function of time t when opinions converge to several different limits.

One of the most attractive subjects in applied sciences is to obtain exact or approximate solutions for different types of linear and nonlinear *** of ordinary differential equations like systems of second-order boundary value problems(BVPs),Brusselator system and stiff system are significant in science and *** of the most challenge problems in applied science is to construct methods to approximate solutions of such systems of differential equations which pose great challenges for numerical *** polynomials method with residual correction procedure is used to treat those *** aim of this paper is to present a technique to approximate solutions of such differential equations in optimal *** it,we introduce a method called residual correction procedure,to correct some previous approximate solutions for such *** study the error analysis of our given *** first introduce a new result to approximate the absolute solution by using the residual correction ***,we introduce a new result to get appropriate bound for the absolute *** collocation method is used and the collocation points can be found by applying Chebyshev *** techniques are explained briefly with illustrative examples to demonstrate the applicability,efficiency and accuracy of the *** using a small number of Bernstein polynomials and correction procedure we achieve some significant *** present some examples to show the efficiency of our method by comparing the solution of such problems obtained by our method with the solution obtained by Runge-Kutta method,continuous genetic algorithm,rational homotopy perturbation method and adomian decomposition method.

This paper studies a flocking model in which the interaction between agents is described by a general local nonlinear function depending on the distance between agents. The existing analysis provided sufficient conditions for flocking under an assumption imposed on the system’s closed-loop states; however this assumption is hard to verify. To avoid this kind of assumption the authors introduce some new methods including large deviations theory and estimation of spectral radius of random geometric graphs. For uniformly and independently distributed initial states, the authors establish sufficient conditions and necessary conditions for flocking with large population. The results reveal that under some conditions, the critical interaction radius for flocking is almost the same as the critical radius for connectivity of the initial neighbor graph.

Current re-vegetation patterns and restoration issues in degraded geological phosphorus-rich mountain areas:A synthetic analysis of Central Yunnan, SW China

China has the largest area of inland geological phosphorus-rich(GPR) mountains in the world, where vegetation restoration is key to safeguarding the environment. We reviewed the published literature and collected new data in order to analyze re-vegetation patterns and the status of plant communities in central Yunnan. The aim of our analysis was to suggest future improvements to restoration strategies in GPR mountain regions. Our results showed that spontaneous recovery was the most widespread type of restoration. N-fixing species such as Coriaria nepalensis and Alnus nepalensis play a vital role in succession. In the past, monoculture tree plantation was the primary method used in afforestation activities in central Yunnan; in recent years however, several different methods of restoration have been introduced including the use of agroforestry systems. For practical restoration, we found that spontaneous recovery was capable of delivering the best results, but that during its early stages, restoration results were affected by several factors including erosion risk, the origin of propagates and environmental variation. In contrast, methods employing human-made communities performed better in their early stages, but were constrained by higher costs and vulnerability to degradation and erosion. The use of N-fixing species such as A. nepalensis and Acacia mearnsii in plantations were unsuccessful in restoring full ecosystem functions. The success of restoration activities in GPR mountain regions could be improved through the following measures:(1) developing a better understanding of the respective advantages and disadvantages of current natural and human-engineered restoration approaches;(2) elucidating the feedback mechanism between phosphorus-rich soil and species selected for restoration, especially N-fixing species;(3) introducing market incentives aimed at encouraging specific restoration activities such as agroforestry, and improving the industry value chain.

The southward expansion of East asian farmers profoundly influenced the social evolution of Southeast asia by introducing cereal agriculture. However, the timing and routes of cereal expansion in key regions are unclear due to limited empirical evidence. Here we report macrofossil, microfossil, multiple isotopic(C/N/Sr/O) and paleoproteomic data directly from radiocarbon-dated human samples, which were unearthed from a site in Xingyi in central Yunnan and which date between 7000 and 3300 a *** isotopes reveal the earliest arrival of millet ca. 4900 a BP, and greater reliance on plant and animal agriculture was indicated between 3800 and 3300 a BP. The dietary differences between hunter-gatherer and agricultural groups are also evident in the metabolic and immune system proteins analysed from their skeletal remains. The results of paleoproteomic analysis indicate that humans had divergent biological adaptations, with and without farming. The combined application of isotopes, archaeobotanical data and proteomics provides a new approach to documenting dietary and health changes across major subsistence transitions.

A New Quality Improving Scheme for VQ Decompressed Images Based on DWT

The better compression rate can be achieved by the traditional vector quantization （VQ） method, and the quality of the recovered image can also be accepted. But the decompressed image quality can not be promoted efficiently, so how to balance the image compression rate and image recovering quality is an important issue, in this paper, an image is transformed by discrete wavelet transform （DWT） to generate its DWT transformed image which can be compressed by the VQ method further. Besides, we compute the values between the DWT transformed image and decompressed DWT transformed image as the difference matrix which is the adjustable basis of the decompressed image quality. By controlling the deviation of the difference matrix, there can be nearly Iossless compression for the VQ method. Experimental results show that when the number of compressed bits by our method is equal to the number of those bits compressed by the VQ method, the quality of our recovered image is better. Moreover, the proposed method has more compression capability comparing with the VQ scheme.
