Effect of male HBV infection on the outcomes of IVF/ICSI cycles:a retrospective cohort study based on propensity score matching

This study aimed to investigate the effects of male hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection on male fertility,embryonic development,and in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection(IVF/ICSI)*** performed a retrospective cohort study that included 3965 infertile couples who received fresh embryo transfer cycles for the first time at the Fujian Maternity and Child Health hospital(fuzhou,China)from January 2018 to January *** couples were categorized based on their HBV infection status into the HBV group(HBV-positive men and HBV-negative women)and the control group(HBV-negative couples).A 1:1 propensity score matching was performed with relatively balanced *** characteristics,semen parameters,laboratory outcomes,clinical outcomes,and obstetric and neonatal outcomes were compared between *** propensity score matching,821 couples were included in each *** groups had similar semen parameters and obstetric and neonatal *** HBV group showed a significantly lower live birth rate than the control group(P<0.05).The HBV group had a significantly higher abortion rate than the control group(P<0.05).The rates of high-quality embryos and blastocyst formation were significantly lower in the HBV group than those in the control group(both P<0.05).In conclusion,in couples who undergo IVF/ICSI,male HBV infection reduces the live birth rate and increases the risk of ***,the incidence of low birth weight in women with IVF/ICSI does not increase with male HBV infection.

Mesenchymal stromal cells modulate unfolded protein response and preserve β-cell mass in type 1 diabetes

Introduction:Transplantation of mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)is a promising therapy for type 1 diabetes(T1D).However,whether the infused MSCs affect the endoplasmic reticulum stress or subsequent unfolded protein response inβcells remains ***:To investigate this,we induced early-onset T1D in non-obese diabetic mice using ***,T1D mice were randomly assigned to receive either MSCs or phosphate-buffered *** observed the in vivo homing of MSCs and assessed their effectiveness by analyzing blood glucose levels,body weight,histopathology,pancreatic protein expression,and serum levels of cytokines,proinsulin,and ***:Infused MSCs were found in the lungs,liver,spleen,and pancreas of T1D *** exhibited various effects,including reducing blood glucose levels,regulating immunity,inhibiting inﬂammation,increasingβ-cell areas,and reducing the expression of key proteins in the unfolded protein response *** serum proinsulin and C-peptide levels were signiﬁcantly higher in the MSCs treatment group than in the T1D model ***,there was no signiﬁcant difference in the biomarker ofβ-cell endoplasmic reticulum stress,the ratio of fasting serum proinsulin to C-peptide,between the two ***:Ourﬁndings reveal that MSCs infusion does not alleviate endoplasmic reticulum stress inβcells directly but modulates the unfolded protein response pathway to preserveβ-cell mass and function in T1D mice.

Mortality from cerebrovascular diseases in China:Exploration of recent and future trends

Establishment and evaluation of a prognostic model for patients with unresectable gastric cancer liver metastases

Cryptococcus splenic abscess in primary biliary cholangitis: a case report

Chronic liver diseases,including primary biliary cholangitis(PBC),are recognized as immunosuppressive conditions due to the impaired functionality of hepatic sinusoidal Kupffer cells.[1]PBC is specifically characterized by cholangitis and progressive liver pathology,which may eventually lead to *** compromised liver function and reduced efficacy of Kupffer cells in patients with PBC weaken their cell-mediated immune responses,increasing their susceptibility to opportunistic pathogens such as Cryptococcus.[2]Cryptococcosis is an infectious disease caused by pathogenic encapsulated yeasts of the genus Cryptococcus,which is distributed worldwide and exhibits diverse clinical presentations.[3]Most case reports on cryptococcal infections are associated with HIV infection or other conditions that compromise the immune system.[4]Case reports related to primary biliary cholangitis are ***,this case report underscores a rare cryptococcal infection in a patient with primary biliary cholangitis,emphasizing the need to consider opportunistic infections in those with compromised liver function and immune dysregulation.

Mechanisms of hyponatremia and diabetes insipidus after acute spinal cord injury:a critical review

The incidence of hyponatremia after spinal cord injury was reported to be between 25 and 80%.Hyponatremia can lead to a variety of clinical symptoms,from mild to severe and even *** is often associated with diabetes insipidus,which refers to insufficient arginine vasopressin(AVP)secretion or defective renal response to AVP,with clinical manifestations of syndromes such as hypoosmolality,polydipsia,and *** mechanistic studies on hyponatremia and diabetes insipidus after acute spinal cord injury have been performed in isolation,without integrating the above two symptoms into different pathological manifestations that occur in the same injury state and without considering the acute spinal cord injury patient’s condition as a *** therapeutic principles of CSWS and SIADH are in opposition to one *** is not easy to identify the mechanism of hyponatremia in clinical practice,which makes selecting the treatment *** to the existing theories,treatments for hyponatremia and diabetes insipidus together are contraindicated,whether the mechanism of hyponatremia is thought to be CSWS or *** this paper,we review the mechanism of these two pathological manifestations and suggest that our current understanding of the mechanisms of hyponatremia and diabetes insipidus after high acute cervical SCI is insufficient,and it is likely that there are other undetected pathogenetic mechanisms.
