During the months of April through July 2020 we studied aspects of the natural history of Leiolepis rubritaeniata,a species of butterfly lizard that occurs on the Khorat Plateau in Thailand and adjacent regions of Laos and Cambodia as well as in south-central *** present data on population size and structure,as well as location,size,compass orientation,and structure of the lizard’s ***,we present climatic data(ambient air temperature and precipitation)at the study site for the duration of our field work as well as temperature data for the complete year ***,we provide data on egg laying,incubation conditions and characteristics of the ***,we present an easy to use and reliable non-invasive method for the long-term recognition of individual butterfly lizards based on their unique dorsal *** lizards are utilized as a food source for the local human *** far,there are no farming projects in Thailand involving this species and all individuals are collected from the wild *** data are available on the population dynamics of *** but it can be assumed that habitat destruction due to land use change as well as its utilization for human consumption have negative effects on the long-term survival of the local populations of this lizard *** baseline data presented here are essential for any meaningful conservation strategy for these lizards.

Palaeobotanical and biomarker evidence for Early Permian(Artinskian) wildfire in the Rajmahal Basin, India

This study provides a combined analysis on the palynology, fossil charcoal and biomarkers of the subsurface coal deposits from a borehole RMB #2 drilled at the Dhulia Coal Block, Rajmahal Basin, India, in attempts to establish the chronology of sedimentation and to propose palaeobotanical as well as geochemical evidence for the occurrence of wildfires in these sediments. The palynological investigation suggests a Scheuringipollenites barakarensis palynoassemblage from the lower Barakar Formation, dated as Artinskian(Early Permian) in age. This assemblage reveals the dominance of Glossopteridales and sub-dominance of taxa belonging to Cordaitales and *** charcoal in sediments is usually recognized as a direct indicator for the occurrence of palaeo-wildfires. More data involving the anatomical features of fossil charcoal analyzed by Field Emission Scanning Electronic Microscope broaden our knowledge on Early Permian wildfires from the peninsula of India. The studied macroscopic charcoal fragments exhibit anatomical details such as homogenized cell walls, uniseriate simple and biseriate alternate pitting on tracheid walls and rays of varying heights pointing to a gymnospermous wood affinitity. The excellent preservation of charcoal fragments, shown by their large sizes and almost unabraded edges, suggests a parautochthonous origin. The embedded biomarker study performed for charcoal sediments and its characterization demonstrate the presence of n-alkanes, isoprenoids, terpenoids and aromatic compounds. A bimodal distribution pattern of n-alkanes with a Cmaxat n-C25 is identified. Diterpenoids and pentacyclic terpenoids are identified, indicating the input of an early conifer vegetation and bacterial activity, respectively. The identified polyaromatic hydrocarbon(PAH) compounds, together with the charcoal fragments, clearly suggest that repeated wildfire events occurred during the deposition of these Artinskian sediments in the Rajmahal Basin.

In order to understand the Neogene vegetation succession and climatic changes in Southwest China,we reconstructed the Middle Miocene vegetation and climate at four localities,which are at different latitudes(24°19’25.3 "N / 23°35’10.2" N / 22°27’44.5 "N / 21°17’05.9" N) along the SW side of the Mao Mountains in Yunnan *** palynological assemblages obtained from the four localities suggest that the Middle Miocene vegetation there was composed of mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forests with some coniferous forests growing under subtropical *** on the palynological data,seven paleoclimatic parameters of the four localities are obtained by applying the method of Co-existence Approach and compared with the modern and the Late Miocene and Late Pliocene climatic parameters in *** comparison revealed that:1) Among the four palynological assemblages,the abundance of angiosperms increase while those of gymnosperms and pteridophytes decrease along the gradient of latitudes from north to south.2) The mean annual temperature(MAT) and mean coldest monthly temperature(MCMT) were obviously lower in Middle Miocene than today(MAT:13.2 to 14.6 comp.17.7 to 21 ℃;MCMT:2.9 comp.10.9 to 15.2℃).It suggests that the Ailao Mountains were not high enough to block the summer monsoon and the winter monsoon.3) In contrast to the Neogene global cooling,the regional values of the MAT and MCMT in Yunnan increased and accompanied by a decrease of the difference of temperature between the coldest and warmest months(18.4℃ to 19.1 ℃ comp.9.5℃ to 12.3℃) since Middle *** may be linked to a gradual reduction in the strength of the Asian winter monsoon as the Tibetan Plateau was uplifted.

Chromium shavings are wet by-products of the leather industry,of which thousands of tons accrue worldwide during leather *** to their chromium content,chromium shavings are responsible for the most important ecological challenges caused by the leather *** are stable towards temperatures of up to 110°C and enzymatic *** high stability is caused by the three-dimensional native structure,typical for collagen,and additional chemical cross-links between the collagen fibres achieved by Cr3+salts in the tanning ***,hitherto chromium shavings are not utilized industrially to produce *** order to generate biogas,this stable structure has to be *** shavings were pre-treated by extrusion and hydrothermal *** prove the enzymatic degradability,the different pre-treatments were evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),enzymatic assays,and by measuring the solubility in *** biogas production potential was investigated using batch trials to examine *** demonstrated that both pretreatments allowed enzymatic attack and increased degradability of the chromium shavings reducing the lag-phase of biogas production and the remaining waste.

Leather,which is regularly tanned from whole hides of up to 5 m2,needs a constant thickness over the entire surface in order to be processed into high-quality consumer goods such as shoes,furniture and car *** adjustment of the thickness is achieved by *** an industrial scale,rotating knife rollers are used to remove chips from the flesh side of semi-finished leathers whereby adjusting the specified thickness and generating a smooth *** must be taken to prevent the temperature from rising above the denaturation temperature of the leather during shaving in order to avoid any loss of *** this,temperature rise is always a sign of friction showing avoidable energy *** order to localize the source of friction during shaving,actual temperature development at the roller knife is *** measuring methods are used to evaluate the temperature increase at the blade roll of the shaving *** finite element method is used to thermally simulate the *** temperatures,the geometry of the blade roll and process data are taken into account for modelling the temperature development close to the blade *** obtained results enhance the understanding of temperature generating processes during machine operation and allow conclusions about potential improvements in the design of the machine and blades.

Trapelioid fungi constitute a widespread group of mostly crust-forming lichen mycobionts that are key to understanding the early evolutionary splits in the Ostropomycetidae,the second-most species-rich subclass of lichenized *** uncertain phylogenetic resolution of the approximately 170 species referred to this group contributes to a poorly resolved backbone for the entire *** on a data set including 657 newly generated sequences from four ribosomal and four protein-coding gene loci,we tested a series of a priori and new evolutionary hypotheses regarding the relationships of trapelioid clades within *** found strong support for a monophyletic group of nine core trapelioid genera but no statistical support to reject the long-standing hypothesis that trapelioid genera are sister to Baeomycetaceae or ***,we can reject a sister group relationship to Ostropales with high *** data also shed light on several longstanding questions,recovering Anamylopsoraceae nested within Baeomycetaceae,elucidating two major monophyletic groups within trapelioids(recognized here as Trapeliaceae and Xylographaceae),and rejecting the monophyly of the genus *** transfer eleven species of the latter genus to Lambiella and describe the genus Parainoa to accommodate a previously misunderstood species of *** phylogenetic studies in Ostropomycetidae have invoked Bdivergence order^for drawing taxonomic conclusions on higher level *** data show that if backbone support is lacking,contrasting solutions may be recovered with different or added *** accordingly urge caution in concluding evolutionary relationships from unresolved phylogenies.
