The Unprecedented Extreme Anticyclonic Anomaly over Northeast Asia in July 2021 and Its Climatic Impacts

This study investigates the evolution of an extreme anomalous anticyclone(AA)event over Northeast Asia,which was one of the dominant circulation systems responsible for the catastrophic extreme precipitation event in July 2021 in Henan,and further explores the significant impact of this AA on surface temperatures beneath *** results indicate that this AA event over Northeast Asia was unprecedented in terms of intensity and *** AA was very persistent and extremely strong for 10 consecutive days from 13 to 22 July *** long-lived and unprecedented AA led to the persistence of warmer surface temperatures beyond the temporal span of the pronounced 500-hPa anticyclonic signature as the surface air temperatures over land in Northeast Asia remained extremely warm through 29 July ***,the sea surface temperatures in the Sea of Japan/East Sea were extremely high for 30 consecutive days from 13 July to 11 August 2021,persisting well after the weakening or departure of this *** results emphasize the extreme nature of this AA over Northeast Asia in July 2021 and its role in multiple extreme climate events,even over remote ***,possible reasons for this long-lasting AA are explored,and it is suggested to be a byproduct of a teleconnection pattern over extratropical Eurasia during the first half of its life cycle,and of the Pacific-Japan teleconnection pattern during the latter half.

由于地表地形和地下构造的复杂性,山前带地震成像一直是地球物理勘探的难题,其中的难点之一是速度建模。为了改进山前带的地震成像,提出了一个以联合层析速度建模为关键技术的处理流程,包括:(1)利用复数域小波变换(CWT)的抗假频和高保真优点,在压制噪声的同时保护有效信号,尤其是低频信号;(2)拾取全炮检距初至,采用回转波层析反演得到可靠的浅层速度模型;(3)优化初始速度模型,通过浅、中、深联合层析速度反演和井约束建立全层速度模型;(4)通过基于真地表的TTI各向异性叠前深度偏移进行高陡构造成像,刻画复杂断块。将该方法应用于准噶尔盆地南缘山前带米泉三维实际资料的处理,结果表明:线性和含假频噪声得到了有效压制,低频信号得到保留;偏移剖面整体上归位更加合理,同相轴连续性明显提高,井震吻合度较高,地质目标的构造形态和断裂展布规律更加清晰,更有利于后续解释。该方法的成功应用不仅为准噶尔盆地山前带地震成像带来了希望,而且可以推广到世界上其他地区的山前带地震成像中。

SegNet-based first-break picking via seismic waveform classification directly from shot gathers with sparsely distributed traces

Manually picking regularly and densely distributed first breaks(FBs)are critical for shallow velocitymodel building in seismic data ***,it is time *** employ the fullyconvolutional Seg Net to address this issue and present a fast automatic seismic waveform classification method to pick densely-sampled FBs directly from common-shot gathers with sparsely distributed *** feeding a large number of representative shot gathers with missing traces and the corresponding binary labels segmented by manually interpreted fully-sampled FBs,we can obtain a welltrained Seg Net *** any unseen gather including the one with irregular trace spacing is inputted,the Seg Net can output the probability distribution of different categories for waveform *** FBs can be picked by locating the boundaries between one class on post-FBs data and the other on pre-FBs *** land datasets with each over 2000 shots are adopted to illustrate that one well-trained 25-layer Seg Net can favorably classify waveform and further pick fully-sampled FBs verified by the manually-derived ones,even when the proportion of randomly missing traces reaches50%,21 traces are missing consecutively,or traces are missing regularly.

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF A MESOSCALE CONVECTIVE SYSTEM(MCS)DURING THE FIRST RAINY SEASON OVER SOUTH CHINA

Based on the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data and observations collected during the SCSMEX,a mesoscale convective system (MCS) occurring over South China during 23-24 May 1998 has been studied with a numerical simulation using the Fifth Generation Penn-State/NCAR Mesoseale Modeling System (MMS).The successful simulations present us some interesting *** simulated MCS was a kind of meso-β scale system with a life cycle of about 11 *** generated within a small vortex along a cold front shear *** MCS was characterized by severe *** simulated maximum vertical velocity was greater than 90 cm s^(-1),and the maximum divergence at about 400 *** rainfall rate of MCS exceeded 20 mm h^(-1).To the right of the simulated MCS,a mesoscale low-level jet (mLLJ) was found.A strong southwesterly current could also be seen to the right of MCS above the *** strong southwesterly current might extend up to 400 hPa.A column of cyclonic vorticity extended through most part of the MCS in the vertical ***,the simulated MCS was compared favorably with the observational data in terms of location,precipitation intensity and evolution.

ADVANCE AND RETREAT OF THE SUMMER MONSOON IN CHINA

By using the daily-14 year(1983—1996)NCEP/NCAR 2.5°×2.5° reanalysis data,we carefully study in each pentad the advance and retreat of the summer monsoon in China and given to it a new *** definition considered the intensity of southwesterly winds at 850 hPa together with its degree in temperature and *** result revealed that: (1)The advance of the summer monsoon in China shows three abrupt northward shifts and four relatively stationary *** four stable stages correspond to the peak of the pro-summer rainy period in South China,the“Meiyu”season in the Changjiang(Yangtze)-Huaihe River *** rainy season in the downstream of the Huanghe(Yellow)Riyer Valleys and the rainy season in northern *** retreat of the summer monsoon is so fast that it totally retreats from the mainland at about the mid-August. (2)The northward advance of summer monsoon in China is basically controlled by the seasonal variation latitudinally of the upper level planetary *** is in roughly accord with the temporal variation in the position of 15 m s^(-1) isotaeh at 200 *** fast retreat of the summer monsoon is mainly due to the blocking effect of the Tibetan Plateau. In the Qaidam basin,Northwest China,karstic fissures and caves are developed in many places of the Lower Carboniferous Chengqianggou *** Huaitoutala *** the Upper Carboniferous Keluke Fm.,in which are found typical karstic *** suites of transgressive carbonate rocks formed during the Late Paleozoic epoch are preserved as reservoir properties in the Qaidam basin,with paleokarst-related cave-fractured diagenetic structures,which provided the basis for cavefractured *** and clastic samples covering or infilling caves and fractures in Carboniferous strata were collected in the eastern Qaidam basin to focus on petrological and geochemical analyses of karst and infilling *** on this study of the Caledonian diagenetic sequence,and bitumen-infilled inclusion temperature and burial history,there existed a continuous atmospheric freshwater leaching process,which played a critical role in the construction of the Carboniferous supergene *** and survey of the tectonic setting,plate paleolatitude and river development intensity also proves that there was abundant rainfall during the Indosinian period,after which the strata undergo a shallow burial *** Indosinian period is earlier than the key timing of hydrocarbon-generation of the Carboniferous source rocks,this kind of karst reservoir has potential significance for oil-gas resources in this area.

The integrated navigation system serves as the command-and-control center for the offshore towed streamer seismic exploration, and its positioning results of seismic sources and receiver array are also the key to inversion of seabed geological structure using seismic data. In recent decades, China’s marine geophysical exploration integrated navigation system has been reliant on imports, which is expensive and constrained in key technologies. Therefore, to break the technical blockade imposed by foreign geophysical manufacturers and safeguarding the country’s energy security, it is of great strategic significance to independently carry out the research and development of the integrated navigation system for offshore streamer seismic exploration. This research presents critical algorithms for streamer positioning data processing in realtime, near-real-time, and post-processing scenarios, respectively. And the basic architecture and function modules of the integrated navigation system developed are given based on the requirement analysis. Furthermore, the system is tested and verified using both simulation and measured data. The results demonstrate that the shot prediction accuracy of the system is better than 0.5 m in the along line direction, and the streamer positioning accuracy with simulation data in real time, near real time and post processing are better than 6m, 3 m and 2.2 m, respectively. Additionally, the streamer positioning results of the measured data are close to those of mainstream foreign commercial software, indicating that the system meets the operation requirements of offshore streamer seismic exploration. At present, the system has been formally installed and implemented on some geophysical exploration vessels, and has achieved good application results in the exploration in South China Sea and Bohai Sea.

Effect of microscopic pore structures on ultrasonic velocity in tight sandstone with different fluid saturation

Microcosmic details of pore structure are the essential factors affecting the elastic properties of tight sandstone reservoirs,while the relationships in between are still incompletely clear due to the fact that quantitative or semi-quantitative experiments are hard to ***,three sets of tight sandstone samples from the Junggar Basin are selected elaborately based on casting thin sections,XRD detection,and petro-physical measurement,and each set is characterized by a single varied microcosmic factor(pore connectedness,pore type,and grain size)of the pore *** ultrasonic pulse transmission technique is conducted to study the response of elastic properties to the varied microcosmic details of pore structure in the situation of different pore fluid(gas,brine,and oil)saturation and confining *** show samples with less connectedness,inter-granular dominant pores,and smaller grain size showed greater velocities in normal *** more sensitive to the variations of pore type,while Vsis more sensitive to the variations of grain *** with better connectedness at fluid saturation(oil or brine)show greater sensitivity to the confining pressure than those with gas saturation with a growth rate of 6.9%-11.9%,and the sensitivity is more likely controlled by *** pore types(inter-granular or intra-granular)can be distinguished by the sensitivity of velocities to the variation of pore fluid at high confining pressure(>60 MPa).The samples with small grain sizes tend to be more sensitive to the variations of confining *** this knowledge,we can semi-quantitatively distinguish the complex pore structures with different fluids by the variation of elastic properties,which can help improve the precision of seismic reservoir prediction for tight sandstone reservoirs.

Now more comprehensive cloud microphysical processes have been included in advanced three- dimensional mesoscale meteorological model such as PSU/NCAR MM5 model,so the model can be used in the prediction of *** this paper,MM5 was utilized to simulate an advection fog occurring in Nanling Mountain *** simulated results were compared with the facts obtained by detailed observation *** results showed that the simulation was successful in the following aspects:(1)the formation and development of the fog;(2)the temporal variation of the maximum liquid water content;(3)the diffusion of the cold air,especially the temporal variation of the ground temperature;and (4)the uplift of the air and the formation and development of the low-lever ***,we did some sensitivity numerical experiments and discussed the effects of the radiation,the release of condensation latent heat and the change of soil moisture and temperature on the formation and development of *** success of numerical simulation experiment of fog has proved that the numerical forecasting of fog is promising.
