Sodium and divalent cations are involved in cohesion of the bacterial biofilms formation. However,the effects of sodium,magnesium,and calcium ions on biofilm formed by Cronobacter sakazakii strains are not *** biofilm-forming ability of 23 Cronobacter sakazakii strains was assessed at different NaCl(0.00%,0.25%,0.50%,1.50%,2.00%,w/v),MgCk(0.00%,0.25%,0.50%,1.00%,1.50%, w/v) and CaCh(0.00%,0.25%,0.50%,1.00%,1.50%,w/v).Biofilm formed by Cronobacter sakazakii strains was evaluated in tryptone soy broth in 96-well plates using crystal violet staining and its quantification was counted using the optical density measurements(OD) at 28℃for 24h of incubation. The tested strains formed biofilms under different cation concentrations,the mean OD values depended on the strains and evaluated cations *** NaCl concentration(0.50%) in TSB reduced significantly the biofilm formation,while 1.50%NaCl promoted it in 14 *** the increasing MgCl concentrations ranging from 0.25%to 1.50%,the amount of biofilms formed by 17 strains increased *** addition,it would firstly promote biofilm formation and later inhibit biofilm formation with the increasing CaCl *** accessed cations concentrations,most of Cronobacter sakazakii formed highest amount of biioflims at 1.50%NaCl(Mstrains,61%),1.50% MgCl)(17strains,74%) and 0.50%CaCl(10strains,43.4%).The findings of present study provide useful information or new strategies for control and prevention of detrimental biofilm in powdered milk formed by Cronobacter sakazakii.

Inulin, an oligosaccharide produced by several plants, has been shown to enhance the viability of probiotic cultures in milk through storage. Jerusalem artichoke ( Helianthus tuberosus L.) is an interested prebiotic because its tuber has risen content of inulin and fructo-oligosaccharides. This study was aimed to: 1) set the effect of Jerusalem artichoke in deferent concentrations (2.5% & 5%) on the growth of probiotic Lb. acidophilus P106 in the bio-yoghurt during cold storage at 5℃ and sensory evaluation of probiotic yoghurts;2) study the effect of feeding with this synbiotic fermented milk on diabetic mice. It could be concluded that the Jerusalem artichoke influenced the growth of Lb. acidophilus P106 and 5% (w/v) Jerusalem artichoke was given the highest growth and sensory evaluation. On the other hand, no serious adverse effects were observed;the reduction of blood glucose was observed at the termination of empirical phase, also, high level (5%) of Jerusalem artichoke led to more reduction of blood glucose, cholesterol levels and total lipids compared with control.

Nipah （Nypafruticans） is a species of palm trees that grows in mangroves environment near the sea shore. Nipah is potential to produce biofuel energy. The purposes of this research were 1） to determine the optimum bacterial concentration for fermentation to produce high concentration of bio-ethanol, and 2） to determine the optimum incubation time for fermentation to produce high concentration of bio-ethanol. The research had been conducted from June until November 2009 using nipah sap as the substrate and Saceharomyces cerevisiae as a fermentation starter. The experimental design used was a randomized block design （RBD）. Factors tested were starter concentration （5%, 7.5%, 10%） and incubation time （2, 4, 6 days）. The variables observed were concentration of reducing sugar, total microorganism （CFU/mL）, and bio-ethanol production. The results showed that the highest yield of bio-ethanol （8.98%） was produced with 7.5% of starter concentration and 6 days of incubation time.

The study was carried out to assess the effect of management practices on agronomic parameters of cocoa agroecosystems in the peripheral zone of Ebo Forest Reserve. Purposive random sampling was conducted to establish experimental plots on the farms of willing farmers. Demonstration plots were established and agronomic parameters were monitored for “farmers’ practice (FP) and integrated crop pest and disease management (ICPM) practice” using indicators of Cocoa agro-ecosystem analysis (AESA). The FP and ICPM treatments were replicated in ten sites. From AESA records of agronomic parameters, the “observe, learn, decide and act” (OLDA) model was implemented in the ICPM treatments only. The effects of management practices were analyzed using a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and treatment means compared using Turkey’s T-test at 5% probability. Results of ANOVA between the two Management practices showed that over 50% of the response variables were statistically significant. Means separated through GLM ANOVA with Tukey pairwise comparisons at α = 0.05 showed that 14 (53.8%) out of 26 response variables monitored were statistically significant between the two management practices. Pruning, shade management, phytosanitary harvest, rational use of pesticides, farm sanitation, pod harvesting, breaking, fermentation of beans and drying were regular in the ICPM treatment and time-bound in the FP treatment. The average total production varied from 385.83 kg/ha in FP treatment to 572.8 kg/ha in the ICPM treatment, still below the average standard of 1000 kg/ha. The OLDA model applied in ICPM treatment following AESA is a relevant tool to enhance sustainability in the management of cocoa agroecosystems. Farmers should be sensitized and trained on appropriate farm management techniques and enhance access to extension services as well as make available improved and grafted planting materials to ensure appropriate productivity levels.

A novel aflatoxin B1（AFB1） electrochemical sensor is fabricated based on porous alumina（PAA） membrane nanochannels modified with grapheme oxide（GO） and aptamer. Briefly, the AFB1 aptamer was immobilized on the surface of the nanochannels by covalent bonding. GO was modified on the surface of nanochannels by π-π stacking between GO and single-stranded DNA. The GO-aptamer-PAA nanochannels sensor was prepared. Upon the addition of AFB1, GO is detached from the surface of the nanochannels due to the specific binding of AFB1 to the aptamer, which increases the flux of Fe（CN）63-ion and so that the current response is enhanced. The detection limit of proposed biosensor was 0.33 ng/mL and the linear range was 1-20 ng/mL. The sensor was used to detect other toxins such as ochratoxin A, aflatoxin G1 and aflatoxin B2. The results showed that the excellent selectivity of the sensor. Therefore, this sensor has important application value for detecting aflatoxin B1, providing sensitive, simple, and effective method for detecting mycotoxins.

The encapsulation in a nutritive matrix is an effective technique which allows the conservation of vitro-derived explants and protects their viability. The encapsulated propagules are generated by submerging explants in a natural polysaccharide solution of sodium alginate and calcium chloride allowing to obtain uniform capsules. In this work, we present preliminary results of a study on the effect of an encapsulation protocol on any local fruit varieties, conserved in a Regional in vitro germplasm bank.

To obtain accurate search results and advocate the use of human effort in discovering knowledge, we propose a method based on Ant Colony Algorithm （ACA）. The proposed method simulates the behavior of ants searching for food. Specific features such as the behavior of ants searching for food, their established search paths, and the ant ＂neighborhood＂ profile are investigated. The investigation results reveal that the behavior of people searching for useful information resembles that of ants searching for food. We also use semantic annotation and the decreasing matrix dimension approach to accelerate the food searching process an.d shorten the distance between the query starting points and the ultimate answers. A user behavior model is constructed based on personal and domain ontologies. Experimental evaluation with the enhanced ACA has two parts：（1） estimating the efficiency of information retrieval with user interests considered and （2） identifying how to weigh usage and rate user data during recommendation.

Essential oils(EOs)are more complex and comprise a number of volatile and natural bioactive compounds,which often used in food industries as the best *** review focuses on the impact of EOs and the roles of their major components in food manufacturing as natural preservatives with the related mechanisms of *** addition,the major bioactive molecules of different types of EOs and their pharmacological activities such as antioxidant,antifungal and antimicrobial effects on crop protection were also *** major compounds of EOs represent potential antioxidant,antimicrobial and antifungal activities through various *** types of EOs such as tea tree oil,lemon oil,clove oil,cinnamon oil and thyme oil from various traditional plants,have significantly showed better antimicrobial and antioxidant activities,and also effectively increased the shelf lives of the cereal products and increased the quality of food *** major groups of EOs such as terpenes and aromatic volatile compounds,play a key role in food safety without affecting the *** to their various activities including antioxidant and antimicrobial activities,EOs could be used as alternative preservatives to increase the shelf lives of cereals and crops.
