Soft electrochemical actuators that can generate mechanical motions in response to electrical stimuli can be used as artificial muscles in microscale *** electrode materials are the key component of the electrochemical actuator because they limit the ion diffusion and accumulation processes and thus affect the deformation in fast response-time and potential engineering ***-dimensional materials,such as one-dimensional(1D)CNT and two-dimensional(2D)vertically stood WS_(2),are great electrode due to their good electrochemical stability and high surface-to-volume ratios,but show limited performances when being used on their own in the actuators because of low reconstruction or low conductivity.A combination of 1D CNT and 2D WS_(2)could form a heterojunction with both high electrochemical activity and great mechanical ***,by depositing highly disordered graphene nanosheets(HDGNs)on CNT films and then WS_(2)on the formed low-dimensional nanocarbon film,a hybrid WS_(2)/HDGN/CNT film was synthesized through a multistep CVD *** grown WS_(2)nanosheets were achieved by taking advantage of HDGNs which limits CNTs ***,the volume expansion caused by the transition from WO_(3)to WS-2can force the vertical growth of WS_(2).This hybrid film shows excellent electrochemical properties,such as high specific capacitance and high rate *** actuators based on the WS_(2)/HDGN/CNT films show good actuating performance,including stability and reconfigurability.

Theoretical insights into thermal transport and structural stability mechanisms of triaxial compressed methane hydrate

The heat transfer and stability of methane hydrate in reservoirs have a direct impact on the drilling and production efficiency of hydrate resources,especially in complex stress environments caused by formation *** this study,we investigated the thermal transport and structural stability of methane hydrate under triaxial compression using molecular dynamics *** results suggest that the thermal conductivity of methane hydrate increases with increasing compression *** phonon transport mechanisms were identified as factors enhancing thermal *** low compressive strains,a low-frequency phonon transport channel was established due to the overlap of phonon vibration peaks between methane and water *** high compressive strains,the filling of larger phonon bandgaps facilitated the opening of more phonon transport ***,we found that a strain of􀀀0.04 is a watershed point,where methane hydrate transitions from stable to ***,a strain of􀀀0.06 marks the threshold at which the diffusion capacities of methane and water molecules are at their *** a higher strain of􀀀0.08,the increased volume compression reduces the available space,limiting the diffusion ability of water and methane molecules within the *** synergistic effect of the strong diffusion ability and high probability of collision between atoms increases the thermal conductivity of hydrates during the unstable period compared to the stable *** findings offer valuable theoretical insights into the thermal conductivity and stability of methane hydrates in reservoir stress environments.

Impacts of Defoliation on Morphological Characteristics and Non-Structural Carbohydrates of Populus talassica × Populus euphratica Seedlings

Leaves are important‘source’organs that synthesize organic matter,providing carbon sources for plant ***,we used Populus talassica×Populus euphratica,the dominant species in ecological and timber forests,to simulate carbon limitation through artiﬁcial 25%,50%,and 75%defoliation treatments and explore the effects on root,stem,and leaf morphology,biomass accumulation,and carbon allocation *** the 60th d after treat-ment,under 25%defoliation treatment,the plant height,speciﬁc leaf weight,root surface area and volume,and concentrations of non-structural carbohydrates in stem and root were signiﬁcantly increased by 9.13%,20.00%,16.60%,31.95%,5.12%,and 9.34%,respectively,relative to the *** was no signiﬁcant change in the growth indicators under 50%defoliation treatment,but the concentrations of non-structural carbohydrates in the leaf and stem signiﬁcantly decreased,showing mostly a negative correlation between *** opposite was observed in the *** 75%defoliation treatment,the plant height,ground diameter,leaf number,single leaf area,root,stem,and total biomass were signiﬁcantly reduced by 14.15%,10.24%,14.86%,11.31%,11.56%,21.87%,and 16.82%,respectively,relative to the *** concentrations of non-structural carbohydrates in various organs were signiﬁcantly reduced,particularly in the consumption of the starch concentrations in the stem and *** results indicated that carbon allocation strategies can be adjusted to increase the con-centration of non-structural carbohydrates in root and meet plant growth needs under 25%and 50%***,75%defoliation signiﬁcantly limited the distribution of non-structural carbohydrates to roots and stems,reduced carbon storage,and thus inhibited plant ***-induced carbon limitation altered the carbon allocation pattern of ***×***,and the relationship between carbon reserves in roots and tree growth recovery after defoliation was *** study

Coexistence of ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity in a single material is an intriguing phenomenon,but has been rarely *** we studied both the ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity in a group of LaCoO3 films with systematically tuned atomic *** found that all films exhibit ferroelastic domains with four-fold symmetry and the larger domain size(higher elasticity)is always accompanied by stronger *** performed synchrotron x-ray diffraction studies to investigate the backbone structure of the CoO6 octahedra,and found that both the ferromagnetism and the elasticity are simultaneously enhanced when the in-plane Co–O–Co bond angles are *** the study demonstrates the inextricable correlation between the ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity mediated through the octahedral backbone structure,which may open up new possibilities to develop multifunctional materials.

Microstructural evolution and strengthening mechanism of aligned steel fiber cement-based tail backfills exposed to electromagnetic induction

Cemented tailings backfill(CTB)not only boosts mining safety and cuts surface environmental pollution but also recovers ores previously retained as pillars,thereby improving resource *** use of alternative reinforcing products,such as steel fiber(SF),has continuously strengthened CTB into *** approach prevents strength decreases over time and reinforces its long-term durability,especially when mining ore in adjacent underground *** this study,various microstructure and strength tests were performed on SFCTB,considering steel fiber ratio and electromagnetic induction strength *** findings show that combining steel fibers and their distribution dominantly influences the improvement of the fill’s ***’s strength rises by fiber insertion and has an evident correlation with fiber insertion and magnetic induction *** magnetic induction strength is 3×10^(-4) T,peak uniaxial compressive stress reaches 5.73 MPa for a fiber ratio of 2.0vol%.The cracks’expansion mainly started from the specimen’s upper part,which steadily expanded downward by increasing the load until damage *** doping of steel fiber and its directional distribution delayed crack *** the doping of steel fiber was 2.0vol%,SFCTBs showed excellent ductility *** energy required for fills to reach destruction increases when steel-fiber insertion and magnetic induction strength *** study provides notional references for steel fibers as underground filling additives to enhance the fill’s durability in the course of mining operations.

Polypropylene(PP)fiber-reinforced cement-based tailings backfill(FRCTB)is a green compound material with superior crack resistance and has good prospects for application in underground ***,FRCTB exhibits susceptibility to dynamic events,such as impact ground pressure and blast *** paper investigates the energy and crack distribution behavior of FRCTB under dynamic impact,considering the height/diameter(H/D)*** Hopkinson pressure bar,industrial computed tomography scan,and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)experiments were carried out on six types of *** outcomes confirmed fiber aggregation at the bottom of *** H/D was less than 0.8,the proportion of PP fibers distributed along theθangle direction of80°-90°*** the total energy,all samples presented similar energy absorption,reflectance,and ***,a rise in H/D may cause a rise in the energy absorption rate of FRCTB during the peak phase.A positive correlation existed between the average strain rate and absorbed energy per unit *** increase in H/D resulted in a decreased crack volume fraction of *** the H/D was greater than or equal to 0.7,the maximum crack volume fraction of FRCTB was observed close to the incidence *** cracks were present only in the FRCTB with an H/D ratio of *** with H/D ratios of 0.5 and 0.6 showed similar distributions of weakly and heavily damaged *** fibers can limit the emergence and expansion of cracks by influencing their *** observations revealed considerable differences in the bonding strengths between fibers and the *** that adhered particularly well to the substrate were attracted together with the hydration products adhering to *** results show that FRCTB is promising as a sustainable and green backfill for determining the design properties of mining with backfill.

Thermal properties and high-temperature ablation of high-entropy (Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))B_(2) coating on graphite substrate

An entropy-stabilized multicomponent ultrahigh-temperature ceramic(UHTC)coating,(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))B_(2),on a graphite substrate was in-situ sintered by spark plasma sintering(SPs)from constituent transition metal diboride ***(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))B_(2) coating had a hardness of 31.2±2.1 GPa and resisted 36.9 GPa of stress before delamination,as observed at the *** temperature-dependent thermal properties of the multicomponent diboride(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))B_(2) were obtained by molecular dynamics(MD)simulations driven by a machine learning force field(MLFF)trained on density functional theory(DFT)*** thermal conductivity,density,heat capacity,and coefficient of thermal expansion obtained by the MD simulations were used in time-dependent thermal stress finite element model(FEM)*** low thermal conductivity(<6.52 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))of the multicomponent diboride coupled with its similar coefficient of thermal expansion to that of graphite indicated that stresses of less than 10 GPa were generated at the interface at high temperatures,and therefore,the coating was mechanically resistant to the thermal stress induced during *** experiments at 220℃ showed that the multicomponent diboride coating was resistant to thermal stresses with no visible cracking or *** ablation mechanisms were mechanical denudation and evaporation of B_(2)O_(5) and light V-Ti oxides,which caused a decrease in the mass and thickness of the coating and resulted in mass and linear ablation rates of-0.51 mg·s^(-1) and -1.38μm·s^(-1),respectively,after 60 *** findings demonstrated the thermal and mechanical stability of multicomponent entropy-stabilized diborides as coatings for carbon materials in engineering components under extreme environments.

Analytical solutions of turbulent boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves

As a typical nonlinear wave,forward-leaning waves can be frequently encountered in the near-shore areas,which can impact coastal sediment transport ***,it is of significance to describe the characteristics of the boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves accurately,especially for the turbulent boundary *** this work,the linearized turbulent boundary layer model with a linear turbulent viscosity coefficient is applied,and the novel expression of the near-bed orbital velocity that has been worked out by the authors for forward-leaning waves of arbitrary forward-leaning degrees is further used to specify the free stream boundary condition of the bottom boundary ***,a variable transformation is found so as to make the equation of the turbulent boundary layer model be solved analytically through a modified Bessel ***,an explicit analytical solution of the turbulent boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves is derived by means of variable separation and variable *** analytical solutions of the velocity profile and bottom shear stress of the turbulent boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves are verified by comparing the present analytical results with typical experimental data available in the previous literature.
