A 12-week feeding trial with juvenile red drum(Sciaenops ocellatus) fed high-soybean meal(SBM) diets was conducted to investigate a putative biomarker of nutritional imbalance, N-formimino-L-glutamate(FIGLU). Three fishmeal-free, 60% SBM pelleted diets(named B12, Fol, and Met, respectively) were tested to evaluate the effects on growth performance and tissue metabolite profiles of supplementation of vitamin B12(0.012 mg/kg), folate(10 mg/kg), methionine(1 g/kg) respectively, above basal supplementation levels. A fourth SBM-based diet(named B12/Fol/Met) was formulated with a combination of B12, folate, and methionine to attain the above-mentioned target concentrations. A fifth 60% SBM diet(named FWS) with methionine supplementation(1 g/kg above basal supplementation levels), enriched with taurine, lysine and threonine as well as minerals, was also tested. This diet contained formulation targets and additives which have allowed for replacing fishmeal with plant proteins in rainbow trout feeds. Control diets included a fishmeal-based diet(named FM), an unsupplemented basal 60% SBM diet(named SBM60), and a “natural” diet(named N) made up of equal parts of fish(cigar minnows), squid and shrimp as a positive reference for growth performance. Formulated feeds contained approximately 37% total crude protein, approximately 14% total crude lipid and were energetically balanced. Standard growth performance metrics were measured, and tissues(liver, muscle) were collected at week 12 to evaluate diet-induced metabolic changes using nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)-based *** results show that the FWS diet outperformed all other SBM diets and the FM diet under all performance metrics(Pfish fed the N diet but was detected in those fed the SBM diets and the FM diet. fish fed the FWS diet and the Met diet showed lower hepatic levels of FIGLU compared with the other SBM-based diets(P<0.05), suggesting that among the different supplementatio

Focal nodular hyperplasia is a benign tumor of the liver that is often found incidentally with *** purpose of this review is to discuss the pathophysiology,rare complications that can occur due to these lesions,and management options.A literature review was performed on clinical trials and case reports involving focal nodular hyperplasia complications and management of these,as well as the proposed pathogenesis underlying these *** exposure to oral contraceptive pills and endogenous hormones have been thought to play a role in the development of these lesions,this has not been *** recently,they are thought to arise as a consequence of a vascular anomaly causing alterations in the expression of angiopoietin *** are rare,but previous cases have reported associated pain,rupture and compression of nearby structures(hepatic vein,stomach,biliary system).Resection of focal nodular hyperplasia is not usually ***,if there is associated pain with no other identifiable cause or presence of a large or growing lesion with risk of causing a complication,then surgical resection,radiofrequency ablation or arterial embolization should be considered.

Microplastics(MPs)are synthetic contaminants that have received global attention due to their ubiquitous occurrence,extreme durability,and capacity to harm ecosystems and human *** study investigated the occurrence of MPs in three fish species(Channa striata,Puntius sophore and Anabas testudineus)collected from two locations(Ashulia Bridge and Mirpur Road)of the Turag River,which flows alongside the Dhaka city,*** abundance(items/individuals)was highest in Channa striata(3.8±0.6)from the Ashulia Bridge area and lowest in Puntius sophore(1.8±0.4)from the Mirpur Road *** was found to be the most dominant(89e93%)form of MPs followed by fragments(21 e35%),films(0e26%)and foams(0e5%).The dominant color of MPs was blue(69e83%),then red(20 e33%),black(11e14%),green(8e20%),and purple(6e8%).The majority(56e71%)of the MPs assessed werefishes and raised concern on public health particularly who consume fishes from the urban waterways.

1 Background Congenital heart disease(CHD)is the most common major congenital anomaly,affecting approximately one in every 100 live births[1].Among congenital anomalies,66%of preventable deaths are due to CHD,and 58%of the avertable morbidity and mortality due to congenital anomalies would result from scaling congenital heart surgery services[2].Every year,nearly 300,000 children and adults die from CHD,the majority of whom live in low-and middle-income countries(LMICs)[3].Approximately 49%of all individuals with CHD will require surgical or interventional care at some point in their lifetime[4];as a result of advances in access to and the delivery of such services,over 95%of children born with CHD in high-income countries now live into adulthood[3].Here,adults have surpassed children in the number of CHD cases at a ratio of 2:1[5].

Chromium(Cr)is one of the most prominent contaminants due to its cumulative negative effects on *** may be able to mitigate the unfavorable effects of Cr in *** this study,the rohu Labeo rohita(3.02±0.37 g)were exposed to Cr with or without probiotics,representing control(C;without Cr or probiotics),treatment one(T1;Cr at a dose of 4 mg/L),treatment two(T2;probiotics at a dose of 1 ml/L)and treatment three(T3;Cr at a dose of 4 mg/L+probiotics at a dose of 1 ml/L)for 42 *** results showed that weight gain(WG)and specific growth rate(SGR)were inhibited significantly in T1,while those substantially increased in T2(probiotics)compared to *** the other hand,WG and SGR were regained as compared to C in *** significantly lowest feed conversion ratio(FCR)was found in T2,and moderate FCR was recorded in C and T3,while it was significantly highest in *** mortality was observed in C and T2,while 20%mortality was recorded in T1,and decreased mortality was recorded in T3(10%).Exposure to Cr(T1)caused lower hemoglobin and higher glucose levels;however,the use of probiotics reversed these effects in T3(Cr+probiotics).The frequencies of nuclear(notched nuclei,nuclear bridges,and karyopyknosis)and cellular(tear drop shaped,fusion,and twin)abnormalities of erythrocytes increased in the Cr-exposed group(T1);however,these were recovered after probiotic administration(T3).The findings of the present study suggest that probiotics play a beneficial role in reducing the toxicities of Cr in rohu.
