COMPARISON OF SURVIVAL AMONG PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER TREATED AT first teaching hospital,CHANGCHUN,CHINA,AND SAINTSACREMENT hospital,QUBEC,CANADA

The aim of this study was to compare the survival of 116 patients with breast cancer initially treated at the first teaching hospital (FTH) of Norman Bethune University of Metlical Sciences located in Changchun, China, from 1986 to 1991 with the survival of 886 patients sesn in the 'HōPital du Saint-Sacrenient' (HSS) located in Quehec City, Canada, from 1987 to *** clinical data were collected from the hospital records at *** vital status for Chinese Patients was obtained from letters of follow-up or the records of local police *** list of Patients treated at HSS and the data for each woman were extracted from computerized data *** major variables studied included age at diagnosis, tumor size at pathology(cm),number of lymph nodes involved,breast surgery and adjuvant treatments of breast cancer (chemotherapy,radiotherapy,immunotherapy).Age at diagnosis was substantially lower among patients with breast cancer seen at FTH compared to those treated at HSS (x_1￣2= 60.95,Phospitals differed with respect to tumor size at pathology (x_2￣2 =6.67,P=0.036). The proportion of patients with tumor size larger than 2.0 cm was larger at FTH (48.3%) than at HSS (41.1%). The mean tumor size at pathology was 3.0 cm (standard deviation= 2.l cm) for patients treated at FTH, but 2.6 cm (standard deviation=1.8 cm) for women treated at HSS (P=0.07).The proportion of women with lymph node involvement was greater at FTH (61.1 % than that at HSS (37.3%) (x_1￣2 = 16.5l,P<0.0001 ).Surgical treatment of breast cancer varied considerably. In Changchun,radical mastectomy was frequent for any stage of breast cancer patients,hut partial mastectomy was never performed. Objective: To evaluate the quality of first trimester ultrasound examinations in patients consulting in the gynecology and obstetrics department at the University teaching hospital Yalgado Ouedraogo (UTH-YO) of Ouagadougou. Method: Our study took place from January 1st to March 31st 2017, in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University teaching hospital Yalgado Ouedraogo of Ouagadougou. This was a descriptive study on the records of the first trimester ultrasound of pregnancy, with analysis of the iconography. We used the criteria of the Technical Committee of Fetal Echography (TCFE) of France to analyse all the ultrasound reports brought by the patients. Results: Two hundred reports were collected in three months. In terms of ultrasound identification, only 2 reports out of 200 mentioned the brand and date of first circulation and 4 specified the type of device. The study of the quality of the appointment showed that only 52% of the ultrasounds had been performed at the right time, between 11SA - 14SA of amenorrhea. For the nuchal translucency quality, we rated by the Herman score, 41.67% of the scores were of “unacceptable” quality and only 58.33% were of “acceptable” quality we did not achieve “excellent” quality. The analysis of the biparietal diameter (BIP) cuts revealed that 1/4 only anatomical cuts had been well made. Analysis of the cranio caudal length (CCL) cuts showed that only 14.58% of the CCLs had been well done. Elements of early morphology had been explored to less than 5%. Conclusion: The results revealed the acceptable quality of the NC measurements, but a small proportion of NC achieved. The quality of the ultrasound, morphological analysis and biometrics period is not very acceptable.

Recently, this test has been employed by Gilliand and Ghose to study the adrenocortical function in patients with hyperthyroidism. This paper presents the results of the dexamethasone suppression test in assessing the adrenocortical function in patients with a variety of chronic diseases.

Effect of Abnormal Savda Munziq on Hypertrophic Scar Formation in A Rabbit Ear Model

Objective： To investigate whether administrating Abnormal Savda Munziq （ASMq）, a traditional Uighur herbal preparation used for the prevention or treatment of diseases, affects hypertrophic scar （HTS） formation by using an established rabbit ear model. Methods： The HTS rabbit model was created by circular full- thickness skin excisions on both ears of rabbits. Twenty rabbits were randomized into four groups, with 5 rabbits and 60 wounds in each group. Group A was the control group, treated with normal saline daily. Groups B, C, and D were the treatment groups at three different doses of ASMq （400, 800, and 1200 mg/kg body weight, respectively, daily, by gastrogavage）. Twenty wounds were randomly chosen from each group on the 40th day after treatment and specimen were examined. Scar elevation index （SEI） was analyzed with histological assessment, and ultrastructure analysis was analyzed with a transmission electron microscopy. Results： Groups B, C, and D demonstrated significant reductions in SEI as compared with the control group at 35.9% （P=0.0212）, 48.2% （P=0.0108）, and 52.7% （P=0.0103）, respectively in a dose-response manner. SEI was lowered in Group D compared with Group B with a significant difference （P=0.015）. However, there were no significant differences between Groups B and C, or between Groups C and D. Histological analysis showed that high- dose ASMq （1200 mg/kg） could enhance the softening of HTS of rabbit ears and increase the compliance as shown in general. Ultrastructure analysis showed that with increased ASMq dose, the fibroblasts, pro-collagen, collagen, endoplasmic reticulum and ribosomes were reduced gradually. Conclusions： Orally administered ASMq significantly reduces the severity of HTS in the rabbit ear model. The findings of this study may have clinical implications on the management of human HTS.

Attenuation of seizure in P77PMC rats with an HSV-vector expressing IL-1ra in brain

Cloned human IL 1ra (IL 1 receptor antagonist, IL 1ra) cDNA is inserted into pHSVLac, resulting in recombinant named pHSV IL 1ra. pHSVLac and pHSV IL 1ra were packaged into HSV 1 particles using HSV 1 ts K as helper virus. The results showed that: (i) vero cell infected by pHSV IL 1ra particles showed IL 1ra expression; expression of β galactosidase is observed in meninges and some neurons closed to ventricular and maintained for 8 weeks in rats after intracerebroventricular injection of pHSV IL 1ra particles; (ii) transgenic expression of IL 1ra by pHSV IL 1ra injection significantly inhibited seizure attacks of P77PMC rat. These studies indicate that HSV 1 vector expressing IL 1ra in brain attenuated seizure attacks of P77PMC rat.

Diagnosis and surgical treatment of ruptured aneurysm in sinus of Valsalva

Objective To evaluate the methods used to diagnose and surgically treat ruptured aneurysm in sinus of Valsalva (RASV) Methods Thirty seven hospitalized patients with ruptured aneurysms in the sinus of Valsalva from September 1981 to April 2001, including 21 cases (56 7%) of RASV associated with ventricular septal defects (VSD) and 11 (29 7%) with aortic valvular prolapse were given surgical interventions Under hypothermia and extracorporeal circulation, we successfully performed the surgical correction of RASV for all 37 patients VSD repair in 21 patients, aortic valvuloplasty in 6 and aortic valvular replacement in 2 Results There was no hospital deaths among these patients, although residual shunting occurred in two patients and acute renal failure was found one Follow up study of one month to 20 years in the patients undergoing repair of RASV revealed that the mostly individuals treated with operation obtained satisfactory cardiac function Conclusion Correct diagnosis of ruptured aneurysm in sinus of Valsalva should be confirmed immediately and surgical correction should be carried out as soon as possible
