To the Editor: I read with interest the recent article on cardiac troponin T (TNNT2) mutations in Chinese patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) by Wu et al.1 The authors cited a prevalence of HCM of 0.2% in general population, but did not indicate whether it referred to the general population in China or some other countries.

＜正＞Leaf rot disease of coconut is caused by a fungal complex. Among the fungi associated, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Exserohilum rostratum are the main pathogens. Leaf rot is a destructive disease and complete control of it could not be achieved by fungicidal applications. Efforts were made to isolate native bacteria from rhizosphere of coconut and to evaluate their in vitro antagonistic potential against leaf rot pathogens so that the potential antagonists could effectively be used in leaf rot disease management. Two fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. isolated from rhizosphere were found to be effective antagonists of the main pathogens of leaf rot.

The Caledonian orogenic belt of the North Qilian Mountains is an intensely active structure belt. In the process of the Late Caledonian syn-orogeny, the North Qilian-Hexi Corridor area was situated on the tectonic background of a syn-orogenic basin. In response to the orogenic process of the North Qilian Mountains, typical earthquake event deposits—seismites of the Silurian were widely distributed around Hanxia of Yumen City, the Liyuan River of Sunan County and Biandukou of Minle County. In the Hanxia area, where seismites are typically developed, clastic deposits of tidal-flat facies are the background deposits of the Hanxia Formation. The earthquake event deposits are characterized by sandy mudstone veins, synsedimentary microfractures, micro-corrugated laminations and earthquake breccias, which in turn constitute complex seismites, featuring seismic corrugation, shattering and liquefied sandy mudstone veins, auto-clastic breccias and intraclastic parabreccias. The seismites and tidal flat deposits formed typical sequences of earthquake event deposits.

Water soluble poly(ethylene oxide)-graft-methotrexate (PEO-g-MTX) conjugates with a robust amide linkage via the amine or carboxylic acid groups of MTX were designed,prepared and investigated for in vitro anti-tumor *** was conjugated to multi-functional PEO containing multiple pendant carboxylic acid (PEO-g-COOH)or amine groups (PEO-g-NH2) via the carbodiimide chemistry,which afforded PEO-g-MTX conjugates with an amide bond to the aminopteridine ring or carboxylic acid groups of MTX (denoted as PEO-g-MTX(COOH) and PEO-g-MTX(NH2),respectively).Dynamic light scattering (DLS) revealed that all PEO-g-MTX conjugates,with MTX contents varying from 4.8 to 19.6 wt％,existed as unimers in phosphate buffer (PB,pH 7.4,20 mmol·L-1).Interestingly,MTT assays showed that PEO-g-MTX(COOH) exhibited potent anti-tumor activity in HeLa,A549,KB and NIH3T3 cells with cytotoxicity profiles comparable to that of free *** contrast,PEO-g-MTX(NH2)revealed diminishing cytostatic effect with IC50 (half maximal inhibitory concentration) ten to hundred times higher than that of PEO-g-MTX(COOH).Moreover,PEO-g-MTX(COOH) conjugates allowed facile conjugation with targeting ***,folate-decorated PEO-g-MTX(COOH) macromolecular drugs showed apparent targetability to folate receptor-overexpressing KB cells with an IC50 over 12-fold lower than non-targeting PEO-g-MTX-(COOH) control and about 2-fold lower than free MTX under otherwise the same conditions.

A single boronic acid-based fluorescent probe （compound CSP） for saccharides was designed and synthesized. The probe, with an a,fl-unsaturated ketone conjugated into the coumarin fluorophore, was synthesized by 4 steps from the commercial material 4-diethylamino salicylaldehyde. The electron push-pull effect is enhanced with the N,N-diethyl amino as the electron donor and the carbonyl as the electron acceptor. Both the absorption （463 nm） and emission （616 nm） maxima of CSP are in the visible wavelength region with a Stokes shift of about 150 nm, which ensures CSP a potential probe for biological application. Under near physiological conditions, significant fluores- cence enhancement of CSP was observed upon the addition of some saccharides, namely, D-sorbitol, D-fructose, D-glucose, D-mannose and D-galactose. The probe showed relatively high sensitivity towards D-fructose and D-sorbitol, and their detection limits were 0.05 mmol/L and 0.1 mmol/L, respectively.

Recent discoveries of ophiolites indicate that there must be a Palaeotethyan geosuture zone bordering China and Vietnam, which separates the Vietbac block from the South China subcontinent. The Indosinian foreland fold-and-thrust belt bordering Yunnan and Guangxi provided further evidence for the palaeotethysides. The oceanic crust was subducted southwestwards while the magmatic arc migrated northeastwards, and the continent-arc collision occurred in the Late Triassic with the thrusting being extended towards the north or northeast. The features of thrust-nappe structure are discussed, which proved the continental margin of the Palaeotethyan ocean there to be a complicated one. A face-to-face collision occurred first along the NW-striking segment and then along the ENE-striking segment accompanied by transpression or oblique thrusting occurring along the NW-striking one.

目的：综述早孕期胎儿颈部透明区筛查的最新研究发现。最近发现：新的早孕期筛查指标能够切实提高筛查的有效性，资料显示，被充分告知之后，相对于中孕期筛查而言，孕妇更倾向于早孕期筛查。小结：伦敦胎儿医学基金会的最新报告重申了颈部透明区(nuchal translucency,NT)厚度测量技术的标准化和质拴的重要性，可以通过对操作者特异性资料的定量分析朱达到有效的质控。与二维超声相比，三维超声并不能显著提高NT厚度测量的成功率。新的资料进一步证实了以往关于NT厚度增加与自然流产率和遗传综合征增高，以及高发的胎儿异常率(约15％，其中心脏畸形最常见)之间的相关性的报道。研究者认为NT厚度增加应成为胎儿超声心动图的指征。能够提高早孕期筛查质量的新指标已经具备，据估计，如果加上胎儿鼻骨测量和孕妇血清学分析，对21-三体的早孕期筛查的检出率可以达到97．5％(5％的假阳性率)。需要强调的是，应在筛查之前告诉孕妇夫妇有关筛查的意义，资料显示，被充分告知后，相对于中孕期筛查而言，孕妇更倾向于早孕期筛查。另外，年轻妇女的筛查率相对较低。
