Limosilactobacillus reuteri QS01 is potential probiotic isolated from the intestinal microbiota of healthy women in early pregnancy. In the current study， we examined whether QS01 can prevent gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in an enhanced mouse model of the condition. Female C57BL/6J mouse offspring (F1 generation) born to dams fed a control (CON) or low-protein diet (GDM group) during gestation and lactation were used. Pregnant F1 mice fed a standard diet were randomly assigned to 5 groups: CON， GDM， and GDM mice treated with metformin， QS01 or Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus HN001. An oral glucose tolerance test was performed before sacrifice at gestational day 17. Glucose tolerance was significantly ameliorated by all three treatments. QS01 supplementation fortified the intestinal mucosal barrier and inhibited the escalation of plasma inflammatory cytokines. QS01 treatment altered the cecal microbiota composition and function. Plasma and cecal metabolite profiles were modulated by QS01， prominently demonstrating significant upregulation of indole lactate and L-tryptophan in plasma and 5-hydroxy-tryptophan in the cecum， positively correlated with gut Lactobacillus abundance. In summary， QS01 plays a role in preventing GDM by remodeling the intestinal microbiota， reinforcing the intestinal mucosal barrier and alleviating chronic inflammation.

Segmentation of intracranial aneurysm images acquired using magnetic resonance angiography(MRA)is essential for medical auxiliary treatments,which can effectively prevent subarachnoid *** paper proposes an image segmentation model based on a dense convolutional attention U-Net,which fuses deep and rich semantic information with shallow-detail information for adaptive and accurate segmentation of MRA-acquired aneurysm images with large size *** U-Net model serves as a backbone,combining dense block and convolution block attention module(CBAM).The dense block is composed of a batch normalization layer,an randomly rectified linear unit activation function,and a convolutional layer,for mitigation of vanishing gradients,for multiplexing of aneurysm features,and for improving the network training *** CBAM is composed of a channel attention module and a spatial attention module,improving the segmentation performance of feature discrimination and enhancing the acquisition of key feature *** to the large variation of aneurysm sizes,multi-scale fusion is performed during up-sampling,for adaptive segmentation of MRA-acquired aneurysm *** model was tested on the MICCAI 2020 ADAM dataset,and its generalizability was validated on the clinical aneurysm dataset(aneurysm sizes:7 mm)supplied by the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University.A good clinical application segmentation performance was demonstrated.

Summary： Human sperm DNA is an important genetic and epigenetic material, whose chromatin structure differs from that of somatic cells. As such, conventional methods for DNA extraction of somatic cells may not be suitable for obtaining sperm DNA. In this study, we evaluated and compared three sperm DNA extraction techniques, namely, modified guanidinium thiocyanate method （method A）, traditional phenol-chloroform method （method B）, and TianGen kit method （method C）. Spectrophotometry and agarose gel electrophoresis analyses showed that method A produced DNA with higher quantity and purity than those of methods B and C （P〈0.01）. PCR results revealed that method A was more reliable in amplifying DEAD-box polypeptide 4 （DDX4） and copy number variations （CNVs） than methods B and C, which generated false-positive errors. The results of sperm DNA methylation assay further indicated that methods A and B were effective, and the former yielded higher quantitative accuracy. In conclusion, the modified guanidinium thiocyanate method provided high quality and reli- able results and could be an optimal technique for extracting sperm DNA for methylation assay.

Publicly-accessible resources have promoted the advance of scientific discovery. The era of genomics and big data has brought the need for collaboration and data sharing in order to make effective use of this new knowledge. Here, we describe the web resources for cancer genomics research and rate them on the basis of the diversity of cancer types, sample size, omics data comprehensiveness, and user experience. The resources reviewed include data repository and analysis tools; and we hope such introduction will promote the awareness and facilitate the usage of these resources in the cancer research community.

Correlation Analysis between Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin and Mean Corpuscular Volume for Thalassemia Screening in Large Population

Correlation analysis between the hematological parameters mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) for thalassemia screening in large population was discussed. A total of 4920 peripheral blood samples of reproductive age persons were collected from Guangdong province of China. The hematological parameters MCH and MCV values of samples were first measured, and then the DNA analyses for thalassemia were conducted. All samples were composed by 4463 non-thalassemia and 457 thalassemia, and among 457 thalassemia samples, 311 were α-thalassemia, 133 were β-thalassemia, and 13 were α & β-thalassemia. In accordance with non-thalassemia, thalassemia, α-thalassemia, β-thalassemia, α & β-thalassemia and the entire group itself, a total of six sample groups were divided. The corresponding correlation coefficients between the measured MCH and MCV values for the six sample groups were 0.880, 0.968, 0.966, 0.962, 0.980 and 0.965 respectively. For the thalassemia carriers, highly significant correlation between MCH and MCV were observed. The fitting equations between MCH and MCV values were also obtained. The results indicated that the feasibility for thalassemia screening using MCV or MCH independently as parameter, and provided suitable strategy to select parameters and models for thalassemia screening in large population.

Traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） is a unique health resource in China and one of the main representative traditional medicines globally. TCM has formed a new way of looking at medical practices, health care, scientific research, education, industry and culture. It focuses on promoting and safeguarding the health of people, with an increasing contribution to economic and social development. Establishing a comprehensive evaluation system in accordance with the characteristics of TCM services could promote the scientific merit and the standardization of services management. This would improve health service quality and the social and economic benefits of TCM. It would broaden the field of TCM services research. It would also provide the basis for the formulation of relevant government policies. This study estimates the prospect of establishing a comprehensive evaluation system of TCM services.

Sleep deprivation is a common problem among university students,it causes lowered cognitive skills,higher tend of suicide,risk-taking behavior and interaction *** using the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)and Interaction Anxiousness Scale(IAS),the survey on the sleep quality and interaction anxiousness was carried out among 124 undergraduate students,in order to found the correlation between sleep deprivation and interaction *** results showed a strong positive correlation between *** study also investigates the difference of PSQI and IAS among students with varied disciplines and grades,and findings illustrated a poor sleep quality as well as poor interpersonal communication situation among university students.

Objective: To investigate the knowledge, attitude, behavior, and needs related to AIDS prevention and condom use in order to provide scientific basis for integrating AIDS prevention into regular family planning services (FPS).Method: From October to November 2003, we adopted the method of descriptive epidemiological study. We investigated 800 women in two townships (Wulong and Huangpu) by using cluster ***: All 800 respondents, 48. 8% of them knew that China was in a phase of rapid increase of AIDS epidemic, 62. 6% could correctly describe "three ways of AIDS transmission:sexual, blood and vertical (mother to infant)", 55.9 % believed that HIV could not definitely infect them, more than 50% thought that oral contraceptive pill could protect them from HIV infection; 41.5% did not know how to use condom correctly, 13.6% misconceived that condom could cause male sexual dysfunction, 14.9% considered that one condom could be used many times (repeated use),10.0% of the couples had ever used condom before, 3. 13% of the couples used condoms consistently and correctly. Among the women with a history of selling blood,63.9% of them sold blood more than two times, and only 2 women had ever taken HIV test.93.6% of all respondents were willing to participate in free counseling of HIV infection. 65.3 %appreciated the counseling offered by family planning service (FPS) providers. 59. 1% considered that FPS center would be the best place to provide HIV counseling in county. 94.3% were willing to participate in a free HIV testing. 52.0% considered that it would be more appropriate for FPS center to conduct the first screening HIV testing. 77. 6% hoped to know about the correct method of using condom and 46.5 % hoped to master relevant skills of condom use through participating in workshop. 87.6 % hoped to take part in health education activities related to AIDS prevention. 51.1% considered that FPS providers would be the best candidates to carry out the health education
