Applying Source Parameter imaging (SPI) to Aeromagnetic Data to Estimate Depth to Magnetic Sources in the Mamfe Sedimentary Basin

Aeromagnetic data over the Mamfe Basin have been processed. A regional magnetic gridded dataset was obtained from the Total Magnetic Intensity (TMI) data grid using a 3 × 3 convolution (Hanning) filter to remove regional trends. Major similarities in magnetic field orientation and intensities were observed at identical locations on both the regional and TMI data grids. From the regional and TMI gridded datasets, the residual dataset was generated which represents the very shallow geological features of the basin. Processing this residual data grid using the Source Parameter imaging (SPI) for magnetic depth suggests that the estimated depths to magnetic sources in the basin range from about 271 m to 3552 m. The highest depths are located in two main locations somewhere around the central portion of the study area which correspond to the area with positive magnetic susceptibilities, as well as the areas extending outwards across the eastern boundary of the study area. Shallow magnetic depths are prominent towards the NW portion of the basin and also correspond to areas of negative magnetic susceptibilities. The basin generally exhibits a variation in depth of magnetic sources with high, average and shallow depths. The presence of intrusive igneous rocks was also observed in this basin. This characteristic is a pointer to the existence of geologic resources of interest for exploration in the basin.

To the Editor:Extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ECC)is an uncommon neoplasm associated with a poor prognosis[1-3].Surgical resection represents the only curative approach,since systemic treatments have scarce efficacy in achieving disease ***,only 10%-40%of patients with ECC are resectable at diagnosis[1].Ma-jor hepatectomy and portal lymphadenectomy are usually required for hilar ECC,while pancreatoduodenectomy is the standard operation for distal ECC[3-5].However,ECC may spread horizon-tally along the biliary tree,causing tumor involvement of the entire extrahepatic biliary *** these circumstances,hep-atopancreatoduodenectomy(HPD)has been proposed as a pro-cedure with curative intent[2,6,7].

Biomimetic nanoparticles directly remodel immunosuppressive microenvironment for boosting glioblastoma immunotherapy

Glioblastoma(GBM),as a very aggressive cancer of central nervous system,is very challenging to completely cure by the conventional combination of surgical resection with radiotherapy and *** success of emerging immunotherapy in hot tumors has attracted considerable interest for the treatment of GBM,but the unique tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment(TIME)of GBM leads to the failure of ***,we show the significant improvement of the immunotherapy efficacy of GBM by modulating the TIME through novel all-in-one biomimetic nanoparticles(***-I/J@CM NPs).The nanoparticles consist of utrasmall Cu2-xSe nanoparticles(NPs)with outstanding intrinsic properties(e.g.,photo-responsive Fenton-like catalytic property for inducing immunogenic cell death(ICD)and alleviating the hypoxia of tumor),indoximod(IND,an inhibitor of indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenease in tumor),JQ1(an inhibitor for reducing the expression of PD-L1 by tumor cells),and tumor cell membrane for improving the targeting capability and accumulation of nanoparticles in *** reveal that these smart CS-I/J@CM NPs could drastically activate the immune responses through remodeling TIME of GBM by multiple *** could(1)increase M1-phenotype macrophages at tumor site by promoting the polarization of tumor-associated macrophages through the reactive oxygen species(ROS)and oxygen generated from the Fenton-like reaction between nanoparticles and H2O2 within tumor under NIR II irradiation;(2)decrease the infiltration of Tregs cells at tumor site through the release of IND;(3)decrease the expression of PD-L1 on tumor cells through *** notable increments of anti-tumor CD8+T cells in the tumor and memory T cells(TEM)in the spleen show excellent therapy efficacy and effectively prevent the recurrence of GBM after modulation of the *** work demonstrates the modulation of TIME could be a significant strategy to improve the immunotherapy of GBM and other cold tumors.

Determining the Effect of Acute Abdominal Pain Using Ultrasound

Acute abdominal pain is a medical emergency that is characterized by abrupt, acute, recently developed abdominal pain that is accompanied by other signs that are confined in the abdomen area. The purpose of this study was to illustrate how ultrasonography may be used to identify sudden abdominal pain. From December 2021 and March 2022, a comprehensive examination of 50 patients with acute abdominal pain was conducted. Seven hospitals in Khartoum State, Sudan, examined individuals with clinically suspected abdominal and pelvic deformities using 3.5 MHz ultrasound machines. Out of the 50 (100%) patients who were presented with acute abdominal pain 10 (20%) were appendicitis, 9 (18%) were cholecystitis, 8 (16%) were Nephrolithiasis, 3 (6%) were Choledocholithiasis, 3 (6%) were Chronic kidney disease, 3 (6%) were Cholelithiasis, 3 (6%) were Cystitis, 4 (8%) were Ascites, 1 (2%) was acute kidney injury, 1 (2%) was Acute Peritonitis, 1 (2%) was Diverticulum and 1 (2%) each was of Epigastric hernia, Hepatosplenomegaly, Liver cirrhosis, Nephritis and Ovarian cysts respectively. According to the study results, ultrasonography (US) proceeds to be the go-to imaging strategy in most situations, particularly for younger and female patients, where limiting exposure to radiation must be obligated. The application of Computerized Tomography CT should be restricted in circumstances where there is no diagnostic US and, in all situations, where there is a significant disparity between medical symptoms and negative imaging in the US.

Prevalence of Spinal and Bony Structural Disorders in Saudi Adult Using MRI in Different Genders

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging is the primary imaging modality for the evaluation of spinal cord and spinal column disorder. Aims: to assess the prevalence of bony structure and spinal disorders in the Saudi population and to find a correlation between patient age and gender. Material and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted using magnetic resonance imaging in Al-Taif city from November 2020 to February 2021 at King Abdul-Aziz Specialist Hospital and King Faisal Hospital in Taif City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to assess the prevalence of bony structure and spinal disorders in the Saudi population. The data was collected after gaining ethical approval from the directorate of health affairs in Taif’s administration of research and studies, and then analyzed using SPSS version 25 to determine the frequency and percentage of disorder. To check if there was a significant difference between the two groups, the Pearson’s chi square test was utilized. Results: One hundred young adults underwent MR examination of the spine. The results show that the most common age group affected by spinal disorders is over 50 years (53%), the most common bony structural spinal disorders are straightening 59%, followed by lordosis (20%), and the most common disc disorders are disc bulges (15%), and the most common degenerative changes are spondylo-degenerative changes (21%), and there is no significant correlation between genders and MRI findings (p-value). Conclusion: The study found that straightening is the most prevalent MRI-diagnosed spine disorder, followed by degenerative illnesses and that there is no significant association between gender and the type of MRI-diagnosed spinal disorders.
