in European politics,the issue of neo-liberalism is both dominant and *** political position has a foundation in an influential economic *** economic variant of a universal theory of human behaviour is known as‘economic imperialism’.it is very influential in the other social sciences as ***‘rationalchoice-model’(RCM)is frequently employed to explain social *** RCM,formally speaking,is the approach of neoclassical economic *** scrutinising some presuppositions of economic imperialism,it becomes clear,however,that this approach cannot offer a universal theory of human *** considerations are not a criticism of economic rationality as such but of a specific interpretation of this rationality,namely that of economic *** basic ideas of the RCM are criticised within the discourse of economics itself,such criticism has a primarily empirical *** contrast,this article develops a reflexive argument that concerns the framework of the RCM *** starts from assumptions that it does not justify,or is even unable to *** of these assumptions are discussed in-depth:the givenness of preferences and the quantifiability of *** turns out that preferences of rational beings are not merely given but continuously ***,preferences qua goals of action have a non-quantitative character:they are constituted by *** make up the foundation of(quantifiable)goods or preferences in the economic sense.

The centuries before the renewal of both the scientific-philosophical and the everyday thinking were dominated by the Christian way of approaching all the phenomena of human life, love and sexuality not excluded. However, the tran- scendence-based other-worldly concepts to grasp what happens in human beings-in- the-flesh were challenged by this-worldly concepts, whose explicit or hidden origin was the Epicurean approach to the same phenomena. in my paper, i outline firstly some of the main tenets of Lucretius the Epicurean poet, secondly, i characterize the basic convictions of Christian theological-philosophical writers, in order to present, thirdly, how they influenced each-other in Andreas Capellanus＇ treatise On Love.

The paper considers the account of happiness given in Boethius＇s Consolations of philosophy. This account claims that happiness requires security of possession, and argues from this requirement to the conclusion that worldly goods, which of their nature cannot be securely possessed, cannot provide happiness. This argument is shown to depend on assuming a life-driven account of human motivation, rather than a goods-driven account of human motivation. The life-driven account, according to which voluntary actions are ultimately motivated by the pursuit of a certain kind of life, is defended against the goods-driven account, according to which actions are motivated by the pursuit of goods the enjoyment of which can only be episodes in a human life. it is claimed that Boethius is right in holding a life-driven account, and that his account of happiness follows from it.

in my paper, i analyse Hume＇s philosophy of love with the general philosophical idea of a continual flux in the background. My main source is his Treatise of Human Nature published in 1739 where Hume develops in full length his purely naturalistic moral theory. First, i recall some basic features of Hume＇s general concept of a passion. Afterwards, i characterize his concept of love in context of his ＂principle＂ of sympathy in order to connect finally Hume＇s ideas to a basic distinction within traditional philosophy of love between love of benevolence and love of desire.

in my paper, i show how the metaphysical aspect of the earlier concepts of love faded away through the disappearance of the essential references to God as the one, omniscient, omnipotent and benevolent being of the creation of nature, physis. Although in the seventeenth century, the structure of nature was conceived roughly in Epicurean terms, this concept was thought to be in need of a completion through a parallel system of being directed by teleological causality in one way or other. A synthesis of the Epicurean-scientific and the Christian teleological worldview was the main point in the philosophical agenda. The Enlightenment period meant a radical break between this soul-centred view and a new body-centred view most of the important thinkers were persuaded of. i exemplify this radically new look at the human being-in-the-world by presenting some ideas from ~ 50 of Diderot＇s ＂Thoughts on the interpretation of nature＂（Pensdes sur l＇interprdtation de la nature）. Diderot attributes the faculties of feeling and thinking to all being from the tiniest molecules to the most complex beings, dispensing in this way with the typically seventeenth-century idea of God as the personal warrant of the pos- sibility of cognition. The sentient elements＇ j,~,~ng other corpuscles is no more governed by an omniscient creator but by the dynamism of the process itself. This boundless, creative, dynamic fluidity of being, this newly conceived nature in continual flux seemed to be captured best by such elastic faculties as imagination or sentiment. This is one of the reasons for the overall dominance of these faculties in the French and Scottish versions of the philosophy and theory of art of Enlight- enment. The consequences of all this in domain of the thinking on love will be presented by way of a reflection upon Diderot＇s ideas on the mixing of human andanimal species in the Dream of D＇Alembert and on his ideas on ＂free love＂ in his Supplement to the voyage of Bougainville （1775/1

Populations living at high altitudes （HAs）, particularly in the Peruvian Andes, are characterized by a mixture of subjects with erythrocytosis （16 g dl-1〈haemoglobin （Hb）≤21 gdl-1） and others with excessive erythrocytosis （EE）（Hb〉21 g dl-1）. Elevated haemoglobin values （EE） are associated with chronic mountain sickness, a condition reflecting the lack of adaptation to HA. According to current data, native men from regions of HA are not adequately adapted to live at such altitudes if they have elevated serum testosterone levels. This seems to be due to an increased conversion of dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate （DH EAS） to testosterone. Men with erythrocytosis at HAs show higher serum androstenedione levels and a lower testosterone/androstenedione ratio than men with EE, suggesting reduced 17beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase （17beta-HSD） activity. Lower 17beta-HSD activity via A4-steroid production in men with erythrocytosis at HA may protect against elevated serum testosterone levels, thus preventing EE. The higher conversion of DHEAS to testosterone in subjects with EE indicates increased 17beta-HSD activity via the A5-pathway. Currently, there are various situations in which people live （human biodiversity） with low or high haemoglobin levels at HA. Antiquity could be an important adaptation component for life at HA, and testosterone seems to participate in this process.

The present review has been designed to update the recent developments on the function of seminal vesicles andtheir role on male fertility. it is indicated that the true corrected fructose level is a simple method for the assessment ofthe seminal vesicular function. Measurement of seminal fructose used universally as a marker of the seminal vesiclefunction is not an appropriate approach due to its inverse relationship with the sperm count. The true corrected fructosedefined as [log. motile sperm concentration] multiplied by [seminal fructose concentration] has been shown to be abetter marker of the seminal vesicle function. Seminal vesicular secretion is important for semen coagulation, sperm motility, and stability of sperm chromatinand suppression of the immune activity in the female reproductive tract. in conclusion, the function of seminal vesicle is important for fertility. Parameters as sperm motility, sperm chro-matin stability, and immuno-protection may be changed in case of its hypofunction. (Asian J Androl 2001 Dec; 3:251 -258)

Filling of dolines with aeolian sediments,one of the less frequently described ways in which they are filled,is analysed in the present study on an example of a doline in the high-mountain karst of the *** is a series of deep dolines on a broad ridge(about 2450 m a.s.l.)on ***(Montenegro)in the southeastern part of the *** accumulation of very fine-grained sand that almost completely fills one of the dolines was *** than 99% of the accumulation was found to be composed of well-sorted quartz grains with an average size of 89μm and no vertical differences in granulometric or textural *** respect to mineral composition,the accumulation differs significantly from that prevalent in this part of the Dinarides,in which different kinds of carbonate rocks are *** conducted analyses indicated an aeolian origin of the *** aridification that began in the Middle Holocene made the area of North Africa a source of sediments that were transported by the aeolian process to neighbouring ***-sedimentological research on *** and earlier investigations of the wider Mediterranean region indicate that dolines in highmountain karst can be filled with aeolian *** sediments originated from territory of the northern Sahara,and the filling occurred in the Late Holocene,at the close of the African humid *** present study shows that apart from the influence of local factors,regional geomorphological processes such as aeolian transport can also exert significant influence on the filling of *** also indicates a high intensity and strongly expressed dynamics of aeolian sediment transport from the territory of Africa to this part of Southern Europe.

Parallelism is present everywhere in the early Moist texts： at the syntactic level, at the semantic level, between sentences, between sets of sentences, between argumentative structures. The present article gives many examples of the phenomenon： parallelism of insistence, insistence from top to bottom, insistence from bottom to top, parallelism with symmetry, parallelism involving negation, subcontraries and negation at deeper levels, parallelism of the argumentative structures. Logic is particularly applied to the study of parallelism involving negation. From the point of view of argumentation, it is shown that many of those constructions have an important role in supporting arguments such as： arguments of generalization, afortiori arguments, arguments of exemplarity, consequentialist arguments, arguments by comparison. This study draws the attention to the importance of argumentation in the study of Moism and gives a new light on the argument by parallelism （mou ~$-） in the ＂Xiaoqu＂： it is a natural extension of what we call ＂parallelism involving negation,＂ already very common in the early Moist texts.
