Global systematic review and meta-analysis of knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards dengue fever among the general population

Objective:To determine the global level of knowledge,attitudes,and practices towards dengue fever among the general ***:To complete this systematic review and meta-analysis,a thorough search for pertinent English-language literature was undertaken during the study's extension until October *** search used Google Scholar,Scopus,PubMed/MEDLINE,Science Direct,Web of Science,EMBASE,Springer,and ProQuest.A quality assessment checklist developed using a modified Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for the cross-sectional study was used to evaluate the risk of bias in the included *** variance and Cochran Q statistics were employed in the STATA software version 14 to assess study *** there was heterogeneity,the Dersimonian and Liard random-effects models were ***:59 Studies totaling 87353 participants were included in this *** investigations included 86278 participants in 55 studies on knowledge,20196 in 33 studies on attitudes,and 74881 in 29 studies on *** pooled estimates for sufficient knowledge,positive attitudes,and dengue fever preventive behaviors among the general population were determined as 40.1%(95%CI 33.8%-46.5%),46.8%(95%CI 35.8%-58.9%),and 38.3%(95%CI 28.4%-48.2%),*** exhibits the highest knowledge level at 63.5%,and Africa shows the lowest at 20.3%.Positive attitudes are most prevalent in the Eastern Mediterranean(54.1%)and Southeast Asia(53.6%),contrasting sharply with the americas,where attitudes are notably lower at 9.05%.Regarding preventive behaviors,the americas demonstrate a prevalence of 12.1%,Southeast Asia at 28.1%,Western Pacific at 49.6%,Eastern Mediterranean at 44.8%,and Africa at 47.4%.Conclusions:Regional disparities about the knowledge,attitude and preventive bahaviors are evident with Europe exhibiting the highest knowledge level while Africa has the *** findings emphasize the importance of targeted public health interventions tailored to regional

Worldwide suicide mortality trends(2000-2019):A joinpoint regression analysis

This paper presents the results obtained from a post-occupancy evaluation （POE） study conducted in an old fabric building called ＂La VToleta＂. This structure has been recently converted into a contemporary art *** Violeta is located in Puebia City, Mexico. The buiidieg dates from the beginning of the 19th century; it was buitt and used as a textite factory until the first decades of the 20th century. This POE study aims to assess the new use of the buildieg from the users＇ point of view. Methodology involves historical research of the building, analysis of the conversion strategy, watkthrough investigation, and a user survey. Questions regarding the re-utilization strategy used in the building and its current use are inctuded in the survey, such as ＂Hew do people perceive the space regarding its functionality, accessibility, and comfort？＂ ALthough the re-utitization process destroyed several historic elements, the re-use of old industrial spaces that otherwise would be obsotete and disused seems pertinent. Developing stoatl renovation projects as part of an integrat and wider project seems feasible. Users perceive the buiidinR as comfortabte but not property advertised as an art gallery, and its location is difficult to find.

Association between oral contraceptive use and pancreatic cancer risk:A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Studies on the association of oral contraceptive(OC)use and pancreatic cancer showed inconsistent *** To evaluate the relationship between OC use and pancreatic cancer *** A literature search for observational studies(case-control and cohort studies)was conducted up to December 2020.A meta-analysis was performed by calculating pooled relative risks(RRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs).Heterogeneity was assessed using Cochran’s chi-square test and I2 *** analyses were performed by study design,source of controls in case-control studies,number of cases of pancreatic cancers,study quality according to Newcastle-Ottawa Scale score,geographical region and menopausal *** analyses were performed using Review Manager 5.3(RevMan 5.3).RESULTS A total of 21 studies(10 case-control studies and 11 cohort studies)were finally included in the present meta-analysis,comprising 7700 cases of pancreatic cancer in total.A significant association was observed between the ever use of OC and pancreatic cancer risk in the overall analysis(RR=0.85;95%CI=0.73-0.98;P=0.03).Duration of OC use(10 years)was not significantly associated with the risk of pancreatic *** analyses revealed a statistically significant subgroup difference for the geographic region in which the study was conducted(Europe vs americas vs Asia;P=0.07).Subgroup analyses showed a statistically significant decrease in pancreatic cancer risk and OC use in high-quality studies,studies conducted in Europe,and in postmenopausal *** Despite the suggested protective effects of OC use in this meta-analysis,further epidemiological studies are warranted to fully elucidate the association between the use of OC and pancreatic cancer risk.

A perceptual quality metric for 3D triangle meshes based on spatial pooling

In computer graphics, various processing operations are applied to 3D triangle meshes and these processes often involve distortions, which affect the visual quality of surface geometry. In this context, perceptual quality assessment of 3D triangle meshes has become a crucial issue. In this paper, we propose a new objective quality metric for assessing the visual difference between a reference mesh and a corresponding distorted mesh. Our analysis indicates that the overall quality of a distorted mesh is sensitive to the distortion distribution. The proposed metric is based on a spatial pooling strategy and statistical descriptors of the dis- tortion distribution. We generate a perceptual distortion map for vertices in the reference mesh while taking into account the visual masking effect of the human visual system. The proposed metric extracts statistical descriptors from the dis- tortion map as the feature vector to represent the overall mesh quality. With the feature vector as input, we adopt a support vector regression model to predict the mesh quality score. We validate the performance of our method with three publicly available databases, and the comparison with state-of-the-art metrics demonstrates the superiority of our method. Experimental results show that our proposed method achieves a high correlation between objective assessment and subjective scores.

Evaluation of Taping in the Lymphatic System through Lymphoscintigraphy of Upper and Lower Limbs: A Case Study

Introduction: Lymphatic taping has been used extensively in several areas of physical therapy, and has been prominent in the treatment of edema. Its results are considered empirical and no study reports its effect observed by a lymphocyte count study. Purpose: To verify the performance of lymphatic taping in the lymphatic system using lymphoscintigraphy examination. Methods: A 44-year-old male patient with no clinical signs of lymphatic alteration underwent lymphoscintigraphy examination prior to and after application of lymphatic taping in the upper and lower limbs on different days of placement to verify if the use of lymphatic taping may influence the lymph flow. Results: The result was an improvement in the lymphatic flow with application of lymphatic taping only in the lower limbs, where the taping acted only for 24 hours. There was a greater amount of radiopharmaceutical extracted in the feet of the patient, comparing pre- and post-application of taping. At the foot of the left lower limb, the absorption ratio doubled. There was also improvement in the right limb, but on a smaller scale. Conclusion: Through the evaluation of the lymphatic system by lymphoscintigraphy it can be observed that the values analyzed are relatively higher when the patient has lymphatic taping applied with both 10% and 20% of tension in the lower limbs.
