A closed analytical relation is derived for the two-center nuclear attraction integrals over Slater type orbitals (STOs) in terms of binomial coefficients. This formula can be used in highly accurate calculations of the nuclear at-traction integrals. The relationships obtained are valid for arbitrary values of quantum numbers and screening con-stants of STOs and location of nuclei.

A field experiment of 4 years＇ duration was carried out to evaluate the ef- ficacy of combining the mating disruption （MD） formulation Dismate ZETA （（9Z,12E）- tetradecadienyl acetate）, with the parasitoid Habrobracon hebetor against the Indianmeal moth Plodia interpunctella in a chocolate factory. The experimental period began early in 2011 and ended in late 2014. Begane Dismate dispensers were placed in the facility from 2011 to 2014 and H. hebetor was released in 2014. Pheromone-baited traps were used to monitor the flight activity of the male moths and oviposition Petri dish traps were placed to assess the progeny production ofP. interpunctella females. Following the start of MD, a decrease in the number ofP. interpunctella males caught in monitoring traps was observed from 2011 to 2013. A further decline in the moth population was noted in 2014, when MD was combined with the release of parasitoids. The presence of larvae in the oviposition cups was occasionally observed throughout the monitoring period, from 2011 to 2014. This study demonstrates that the combined system of MD and parasitoids is an effective and reliable technique that can be used to successfully control P. interpunctella.

Microcystis often dominates phytoplankton in eutrophic lakes and must survive a long period of cold or dark conditions. However, the survival strategies of Microcystis to withstand cold or dark stress are less well known. In this study, we conducted experiments on the responses of two toxic Microcystis aeruginosa strains （FACHB-905 and FACHB-915） and their microcystin release in conditions of low temperature （15℃ or 4℃, with illumination） or darkness, and subsequent recovery in standard conditions （25℃ with illumination）. On exposure to 15℃, a small decrease in cell viability was observed, but the cell number increased gradually, suggesting that M. aeruginosa FACHB-905 and FACHB-915 cells seem in general tolerant in 15℃. Interestingly, our results show that a higher carotenoid content and microcystin release potentially enhance the fitness of surviving cells at 15℃. M. aeruginosa cells exposed to lower temperature light stress （4℃） did not completely lose viability and retained the ability to reinitiate growth. In darkness, the maximum quantum yield （Fv/Fm） and the maximum electron transport rate （ETRmax） values and cell viability of M. aeruginosa cells gradually decreased with time. During the recovery period, the photosynthetic efficiency of M. aeruginosa reverted to the normal level. Additionally, M. aeruginosa FACHB-905 and FACHB-915 exposed to low temperature had increased caspase-3-1ike activity and DNA fragmentation, which suggests the occurrence of a type of cell death in M. aeruginosa cells under cold stress similar to programmed cell death. Overall, our findings could confer certain advantages on the Microcystis for surviving cold or dark conditions encountered in the annual cycle, and help explain its repeated occurrence in water blooms in large and shallow lakes.

Targeted genome modifications with the Cas9/gRNA system derived from the clustered regularly interspaced short palin- dromic repeat/CRISPR-associated （CRISPR/Cas） system have been successfully used in cultured human cells as well as in most model organisms, including zebrafish （Danio rerio）, mouse, and fruit fly （Chang et al., 2013; Cong et al., 2013; Gratz et al., 2013; Hwang et al., 2013; Jao et al., 2013; Shen et al., 2013; Wei et al., 2013）. Its application in zebrafish is particu- larly attractive due to the ease of handling this organism and the simple application of this method by direct injection of Cas9/ gRNA. However, the information about its specificity in this organism is very limited and needs further evaluation. In addition, it is conceivable that a Cas9 mRNA optimized for zebrafish codon preference could enhance its activity.

The brown alga, Akamoku, also known as Sargassum horneri, was harvested at depths of 1 - 2 and 5 m in the oceanic areas of the Chikuzen Sea off the coast of Fukuoka, Japan, and its chemical composition (moisture, protein, lipid, ash, carbohydrate and total dietary fiber content) was investigated. The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationship between the chemical components and the growth of S. horneri as recyclable resource for a sustainable future. S. horneri at an ocean depth of 5 m grew rapidly. The biomass was abundant from January until April. After maturation and gamete release at the middle of April, plant senescence began occurring, and only short plants remained at the sea bottom. On the other hand, S. horneri at an ocean depth of 1 - 2 m grew slowly and could be harvested until early June. The protein, lipid and total dietary fiber content of S. horneri at an ocean depth of 5 m showed apparent gender-based differences.

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) such as Crohn's disease are highly debilitating. There are inconsistencies in response to and side effects in the current conventional medications, failures in adequate drug delivery, and the lack of therapeutics to offer complete remission in the presently available treatments of IBD. This suggests the need to explore beyond the horizons of conventional approaches in IBD therapeutics. This review examines the arena of the evolving IBD nanomedicine, studied so far in animal and in vitro models, before comprehensive clinical testing in humans. The investigations carried out so far in IBD models have provided substantial evidence of the nanotherapeutic approach as having the potential to overcome some of the current drawbacks to conventional IBD therapy. We analyze the pros and cons of nanotechnology in IBD therapies studied in different models, aimed at different targets and mechanisms of IBD pathogenesis, in an attempt to predict its possible impact in humans.

Effect of Calcined Temperature on the Solubility of Trace Elements from Manifanshi

A medical stone manifanshi were researched by using polarized light microscopy, X-ray diffraction （ XRD ）, and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry （ ICP-AES ） methods. The XRD pottern of the raw Manifanshi indicates that it is dominantly composed of plagioclase, orthoclase, quartz, and that of the calcined Manifanshi at 1000 ℃ shows that the distortion of crystal structure in both plagioclase and orthoclase takes place at the calcined temperature. The polarized light microscopy observation suggests that the Manifanshi is naturally weathered monzo-granite porphyry. Chemical analyses reveal that the Manifanshi contains a number of healthful trace elements and rare toxic trace elements, therefore, it is a htgh quality Manifanshi. The solubility of trace elements was determined by measuring the concentration of trace elements from Manifanshi calcined under varying temperature conditions by ICP method, the results suggest that the calcined prodact at 1000 ℃ shows the ideal result in ionic concentrations and dissolution rate of trace elements in water, which is contributed to the distortion of the crystal stracture of feldspar at the calcined temperature.

The acid-base properties of 1-（2-thiazolylazo）-2-naphthol （TAN） in mixtures of methanol-water at 25℃ and an ionic strength of 0.1 mol/L are studied by a multi-wavelength spectrophotometfic method. The acidity constants of all related equilibria are estimated using the whole spectral fitting of the collected data to an established factor analysis model. DATAN program was used for determination of acidity constants. The corresponding pKa values in methanol-water mixtures were determined. There is a linear relationship between acidity constants and the mole fraction of methanol in the solvent mixtures.
