The world is facing dramatic challenges related to environmental sustainability at an accelerating *** this context,the field of economic geography(EG)has been playing an important role in understanding both the socioeconomic and technological dimensions of these challenges,as it deals with a variety of complementary notions and *** from this lens,our aim is to explore a conceptual framework that can help us to understand environmental changes relating to multi-dimensional territorial development,notably in eco-nomic contexts where inequality is high,and stratification based on hierarchies regulate social and economic *** on the territory concept,we propose the original notion of a hierarchical regional innovation system(HRIS)that emphasises the pervasive role of hierarchies(powers)in regional innovation systems and illustrate its value with evidence and case studies from extant literature on sustainability *** HRIS can help us understand and promote development paths considering the contribution of inclusive eco-innovations(another original conceptual amalgam).Through some empirical cases from other studies in low-carbon transitions,we show the application of the HRIS(and inclusive eco-innovation)*** conclusion,we provide incen-tives to explore new regional innovation systems,alongside the HRIS,adapted to different regions worldwide and centred on the inclusiveness of people and places.

Future Changes in Various Cold Surges over China in CMIP6 Projections

Cold surges(CSs)often occur in the mid-latitude regions of the Northern Hemisphere and have enormous effects on socioeconomic *** report that the occurrences of CSs and persistent CSs(PCSs)have rebounded since the 1990s,but the trends related to the frequencies of strong CSs(SCSs)and extreme CSs(ECSs)changed from increasing to decreasing after *** highest-ranked model ensemble approach was used to project the occurrences of various CSs under the SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,and SSP5-8.5 *** frequencies of the total CSs show overall decreasing ***,under the SSP1-2.6 scenario,slight increasing trends are noted for SCSs and ECSs in *** circulations that are characterized by an anomalous anticyclonic circulation with a significantly positive 500-hPa geopotential height(Z500)anomaly at high latitudes along with significant negative anomalies in China were favorable for cold air intrusions into *** addition,the frequencies of all CS types under the SPP5-8.5 scenario greatly decreased in the long term(2071-2100),a finding which is thought to be related to negative SST anomalies in the central and western North Pacific,differences in sea level pressure(SLP)between high-and mid-latitude regions,and a weaker East Asian *** terms of ECSs,the decreasing trends observed during the historical period were maintained until 2024 under the SSP1-2.6 *** to the SSP1-2.6 scenario,the Z500 pattern showed a trend of strengthened ridges over the Ural region and northern East Asia and weakened troughs over Siberia(60°-90°E)under the SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios,contributing to the shift to increasing trends of ECSs after 2014.

In situations when the precise position of a machine is unknown,localization becomes *** research focuses on improving the position prediction accuracy over long-range(LoRa)network using an optimized machine learning-based *** order to increase the prediction accuracy of the reference point position on the data collected using the fingerprinting method over LoRa technology,this study proposed an optimized machine learning(ML)based *** signal strength indicator(RSSI)data from the sensors at different positions was first gathered via an experiment through the LoRa network in a multistory round layout *** noise factor is also taken into account,and the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)value is recorded for every RSSI *** study concludes the examination of reference point accuracy with the modified KNN method(MKNN).MKNN was created to more precisely anticipate the position of the reference *** findings showed that MKNN outperformed other algorithms in terms of accuracy and complexity.

Improving Supply Chain Strategies towards Mitigating the Effect of Crude Oil Theft and Pipeline Vandalism in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry: A Case Study of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)

Generically, SCM may be said to include all activities carried out to ensure proper functioning of the supply chain. The activities included in proper management of a supply chain broadly include logistics activities, planning and control of the flow of information and materials in a firm, management of relationships with other organizations and government intervention, However, crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism are established products supply chain disruptors in Nigeria which are rendering the task of running an efficient petroleum supply chain onerous. This paper aims to establish the importance of effective supply chain strategies for companies in the oil and gas industry with special focus on the Nigerian oil and gas sector and the strategies by which the state oil and gas corporation in this sector may mitigate disruptions to its supply chain. This study investigates the enhancement of supply chain strategies towards meeting the challenge of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, using the Nigerian National Corporation (NNPC) as a case study. Based on this study, data were collected from two sources: A summary of incident reports obtained from NNPC and an interview with personnel in the PPMC Department. Incident report refers to a report produced when accidents such as equipment failure, injury, loss of life, or fire occur at the work site. Content analysis is utilized to evaluate data obtained from interview responses, CBN financial stability reports, NDIC annual reports, circulars, banking supervision reports and implementation guidelines. The study found out that NNPC should endeavor to sustain its value chain and ward of pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves by engaging in community partnership, detailing security outfits to ensure its pipelines’ right of way and bridging. Disaster Awareness and Preparedness Among Older Adults in Canada Regarding Floods, Wildfires, and Earthquakes

Older adults are significantly impacted by natural hazards and disasters that are exacerbated by climate change. Understanding their awareness and preparedness is essential for enhancing disaster resilience. This study investigated the attitudes, actions, and recommendations of older adults regarding natural hazards that pose risks in their geographic area—specifically floods, wildfires, and/or earthquakes in Canada. Methods for this study included survey and focus groups with older adults(n = 161 and n = 10, respectively) and other high-risk groups from across Canada, that are vulnerable to these natural hazards. The main findings from this study are that current awareness and preparedness among older adults is low, though stronger perceptions of risks are associated with risks specific to geographic locations where respondents live. Several barriers, such as hazard vulnerability misperceptions, cost-related reasons, and lack of hazard awareness have resulted in low awareness and preparedness among these populations. The two main recommendations arising from this research are:(1) improve awareness and preparedness with tailor-made emergency preparedness materials for older adults;and(2) adopt community-based approaches to disaster preparedness through existing community groups to strengthen social connections with a focus on locally specific hazards. The findings from this research can be applied to other hazards, including heatwaves and pandemics.

Moringa oleifera is well known as a highly nutritious plant and a water purifier in fish *** fish has many impressive qualities making them very suitable for ***,this study aimed to evaluate the effect of supplementation of Moringa oleifera aqueous extract(MOAE)at varying concentrations(0,100,200,and 400 mg/kg diet for 90 days)on growth performance,hematological,and some biochemical parameters of Nile ***,histological changes and immunohistochemical expression of caspase 3 in gills and livers were *** enhancements(P<0.05)in the final weight,weight gain,specific growth rate,red blood cells,hemoglobin,packed cell volume,white blood cells,and total serum protein were observed in fish fed 200 mg MOAE/kg diet compared with other ***,a significant reduction(P<0.05)of liver and kidney function tests and non-significant changes in lipid profile were *** the other hand,fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg diet revealed disturbance in the corresponding *** histological degenerative changes were detected in the gills and liver of fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg *** comparison,fish fed 200 mg MOAE/kg diet showed the best histo-architectures of these organs compared with other *** immune expressions of caspase 3 were determined where gills and liver of fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg diet revealed extensive number of positive caspase 3 cells indicating severe apoptotic ***,a dietary MOAE at 200 mg/kg diet is recommended to improve the growth performance,hematological parameters,liver and kidney functions in Nile ***,caution must be considered when using MOAE at a concentration over 200 mg/kg diet.

为了研究纤维增强复合材料（Fiber reinforced polymer， FRP）-超高性能混凝土（Ultra high performance concrete， UHPC）组合梁的受剪性能，对FRP-UHPC组合梁进行四点受弯试验。组合界面采用FRP剪力键（FRP shear key， FSK）与环氧树脂胶结混合处理的方式降低界面滑移的影响。对组合梁的破坏模式、荷载-位移响应、应变响应和滑移响应进行分析，研究了混凝土类型、FSK间距、混凝土板宽度和高度对组合梁受剪性能的影响。结果表明，FRP-UHPC组合梁的破坏模式是剪切破坏，FRP-NSC组合梁的破坏模式是弯、剪协同破坏。组合梁存在剪力滞后效应，随着混凝土板宽度的增大，剪力滞后效应越明显。混凝土采用UHPC、减小FSK间距和提高混凝土板截面尺寸都可以有效提高组合梁的抗剪性能，并减小界面滑移。基于合理假定，提出了FRP-UHPC组合梁的抗剪承载力和考虑剪切变形的挠度计算方法，预测结果与试验结果吻合较好。

Intelligent traffic control requires accurate estimation of the road states and incorporation of adaptive or dynamically adjusted intelligent algorithms for making the *** this article,these issues are handled by proposing a novel framework for traffic control using vehicular communications and Internet of Things *** framework integrates Kalman filtering and *** smoothing Kalman filtering,our data fusion Kalman filter incorporates a process-aware model which makes it superior in terms of the prediction *** traditional Q-learning,our Q-learning algorithm enables adaptive state quantization by changing the threshold of separating low traffic from high traffic on the road according to the maximum number of vehicles in the junction *** evaluation,the model has been simulated on a single intersection consisting of four roads:east,west,north,and south.A comparison of the developed adaptive quantized Q-learning(AQQL)framework with state-of-the-art and greedy approaches shows the superiority of AQQL with an improvement percentage in terms of the released number of vehicles of AQQL is 5%over the greedy approach and 340%over the state-of-the-art ***,AQQL provides an effective traffic control that can be applied in today’s intelligent traffic system.
