Structural and electronic characteristics of pure and doped ZnO varistors

We report here the structural, surface morphology, mechanical, and current voltage characteristics of Zn1-xMxO ceramic samples with various x and M （0.00≤〈 x ≤ 0.20, M = Ni, Cu）. It is found that the considered dopants do not influence the well-known peaks related to the wurtzite structure of ZnO ceramics, while the shapes and the sizes of grains are clearly affected. The average crystalline diameters deduced from the SEM micrographs are between 2.06 μm and 4.8 μm for all samples. The oxygen element ratio is increased by both dopants. Interestingly, the potential barrier can be formed by adding Cu up to 0.20, while it is completely deformed by 0.025 Ni addition. The breakdown field can be enhanced up to 4138 V/cm by 0.025 Cu addition, followed by a decrease with further increase of Cu up to 0.20. On the other hand, a gradual decrease in Vickers microhardness is reported for both dopants, and the values in the Ni samples are higher compared to those in the Cu samples. The electricul conductivity is generally improved by Ni, while the addition of Cu improves it only in the over doped region （≥ 0.10）. These results are discussed in terms of the differences of valency and ferromagnetic ordering.

Access to psychosocial care is considered a fundamental part of the care for conditions that result in a visible difference,such as cleft lip and *** the same time,there is a shortage of trained mental health professionals and structural resources,making it challenging to implement the psychosocial component of care for many healthcare providers ***,there is a need to find innovative ways to facilitate psychosocial *** article aims to describe the Cutting Edge Training program that was developed to increase the psychosocial understanding of healthcare professionals who provide care for patients undergoing appearancealtering *** program consists of five modules,with a particular emphasis on social determinants and the impact of living in an appearance-focused *** developed training program does increase knowledge and awareness of the negative impacts of appearance-related distress and how to improve patient care for those undergoing appearance-altering ***,it promotes a broader social dialogue about the need to encourage positive attitudes towards diversity in appearance,thus enhancing the future social integration of those who are affected by visible differences.

Polylactide(PLA)films blended with poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)were hot melted using a twin screw extruder with the addition of triethyl citrate(TEC)as a plasticizer and toluene diisocyanate(TDI)as a *** synergistic effects of the two additives on the mechanical,thermal,and morphological properties of the PLA/PBAT blend films were *** influence of TEC content on the plasticized PLA films and the effect of TDI’s presence on the PLA/PBAT blend films were also studied by comparing them with neat *** results showed a pronounced increase in elongation at break of the plasticized PLA films with increasing TEC levels,but a slight reduction in thermal ***,the addition of TEC and TDI to the blend system not only synergistically enhanced the tensile properties and tensile-impact strength of the PLA/PBAT blends,but also affected their crystallinity and cold crystallization rate,a result of the improvement of interfacial interaction between PLA and PBAT,including the enhancement of their chain *** synergy of the plasticization and compatibilization processes led to the improvement of tensile properties,tensile-impact strength,and compatibility of the blends,accelerating cold crystallization without affecting crystallization.

Monochnic and hexagonal CePO4 nanoparticles and nanorods were successfully synthesized from Ce（NO3）36H2O and Na3PO4 121-120 solu- tions at pH 1-5 by a 180 W microwave radiation for 60 min. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Fourier transform infrared （FFIR） spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. XRD patterns revealed that the products are hexagonal CePO4 structures at pH 2-5, and monoclinic CePO4 structtLres at pH 1. SEM characterization shows that these products were nanoparticles, short nanorods, and long nanorods, controlled by the pH of the precursor solutions. Optical properties of the nanorods were also investigated by ultraviolet-visible （UV-vis） and photoluminescence （PL） spectroscopy.

A numerical study is performed to investigate the flow and heat transfer at the surface of a permeable wedge immersed in a copper （Cu）-water-based nanofluid in the presence of magnetic field and viscous dissipation using a nanofluid model proposed by Tiwari and Das （Tiwari I K and Das M K 2007 Int. J. HeatMass Transfer 50 2002）. A similarity solution for the transformed governing equation is obtained, and those equations are solved by employing a numerical shooting technique with a fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration scheme. A comparison with previously published work is carried out and shows that they are in good agreement with each other. The effects of velocity ratio parameter ~, solid volume fraction tp, magnetic field M, viscous dissipation Ec, and suction parameter Fw on the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics are discussed. The unique and dual solutions for self-similar equations of the flow and heat transfer are analyzed numerically. Moreover, the range of the velocity ratio parameter for which the solution exists increases in the presence of magnetic field and suction parameter.

This article is concerned with the effect of rotation on the general model of the equations of the generalized thermoe- lasticity for a homogeneous isotropic elastic half-space solid, whose surface is subjected to a Mode-I crack problem. The fractional order theory of thermoelasticity is used to obtain the analytical solutions for displacement components, force stresses, and temperature. The boundary of the crack is subjected to a prescribed stress distribution and temperature. The normal mode analysis technique is used to solve the resulting non-dimensional coupled governing equations of the problem. The variations of the considered variables with the horizontal distance are illustrated graphically. Some particular cases are also discussed in the context of the problem. Effects of the fractional parameter, reinforcement, and rotation on the varia- tions of different field quantities inside the elastic medium are analyzed graphically. Comparisons are made between the results in the presence and those in the absence of fiber-reinforcing, rotating and fractional parameters.

An analysis has been achieved to study the natural convection of a non-Newtonian fluid （namely a Carreau fluid） in a vertical channel with rhythmically contracting walls. The Navier-Stokes and the energy equations are reduced to a system of non- linear PDE by using the long wavelength approximation. The optimal homotopy analysis method （OHAM） is introduced to obtain the exact solutions for velocity and temperature fields. The convergence of the obtained OHAM solution is discussed explicitly. Numerical calculations are carried out for the pressure rise and the features of the flow and temperature characteristics are analyzed by plotting graphs and discussed in detail.

Isolation and characterization of glacier VMY22, a novel lytic cold-active bacteriophage of Bacillus cereus

As a unique ecological system with low temperature and low nutrient levels, glaciers are considered a "living fossil" for the research of evolution. In this work, a lytic cold-active bacteriophage designated VMY22 against Bacillus cereus MYB41-22 was isolated from Mingyong Glacier in China, and its characteristics were studied. Electron microscopy revealed that VMY22 has an icosahedral head(59.2 nm in length, 31.9 nm in width) and a tail(43.2 nm in length). Bacteriophage VMY22 was classified as a Podoviridae with an approximate genome size of 18 to 20 kb. A one-step growth curve revealed that the latent and the burst periods were 70 and 70 min, respectively, with an average burst size of 78 bacteriophage particles per infected cell. The pH and thermal stability of bacteriophage VMY22 were also investigated. The maximum stability of the bacteriophage was observed to be at pH 8.0 and it was comparatively stable at p H 5.0–9.0. As VMY22 is a cold-active bacteriophage with low production temperature, its characterization and the relationship between MYB41-22 and Bacillus cereus bacteriophage deserve further study.
