Narrow solar-light response range and rapid charges recombination are the main technical barriers in TiO_(2) photocatalysis *** overcome these restrictions,in this work we synthesized a novel binuclear gadolinium(Ⅲ) coordination complex,[Gd_(2)(DPDB)_6(DMF)_6(H_(2)O_()2)](DPDB=[(4-dimethylamino)phenyldiazenyl] benzenesulfonate),which was used as an inorganic sensitizer for boosting the visible light-harvesting and quantum efficiency of TiO_(2) supported-reduced graphene oxide(rGO) *** structure of [Gd_(2)(DPDB)_6(DMF)_6(H_(2)O)_(2)](Gd-CMP) was determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data,which indicates three-dimensional(3D) supramolecular architecture through hydrogen bonding and CH…π_(ph) *** prepared nanohybrid(Gd-CMP/TG) reveals significantly enhanced visible-light-induced photocatalytic activity for degradation of acetaminophen(ACT).The complete removal of 10 mg/L ACT is achieved over Gd-CMP/TG,and the corresponding rate constant of ACT degradation of nanohybrid is 40-fold higher than that of bare TiO_(2).In prepared ternary nanohybrid,metal-coordination sensitizer(Gd-CMP) acts as an electron donor,and at the same time,rGO serves as an electron acceptor,and the synergistic effect between them efficiently enhances charges separation and inhibits e/h pair recombination in the hybridized *** radical scavenger tests indicate that the photo-induced O_(2)^(-·) radicals dominate ACT *** the basis of the experimental results and calculated energy of electronic levels,a possible mechanism for the improved photocatalytic activity is discussed.

The experimental study on ozonation of ethylenethiourea （ETU） is conducted. The reaction of gas-phase ETU with 0.63 × 10^-6 mol/L ozone is carried out in a 200-L reaction chamber. The secondary organic aerosol （SOA） resulted from the ozonation of gas-phase ETU is observed with a scanning mobility particle size （SMPS）. The rapid exponential growth of SOA reveals that the atmospheric lifetime of ETU vapor towards ozone reaction is less than four days. The ozonation of dry ETU particles, ETU-contained water droplets and ETU aqueous solution is investigated with a vacuum ultraviolet photoionization aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer （VUV- ATOFMS）. The formation of 2-imidazoline is observed in the ozonation of dry ETU particles and ETU-contained water droplets. The formation of 2-imidazoline and ethvlenerea is observed in the ozonation of ETU aqueous solution.

Background:Small birds in temperate habitats must either migrate,or adjust aspects of their morphology,physiology and behavior to cope with seasonal change in temperature and *** is,however,difficult to accurately measure how seasonal changes in temperature and photoperiod affect physiological processes such as basal metabolic rate(BMR)and metabolic *** address this problem,we collected data in each month of the year on body mass(Mb)and BMR,and conducted a series of experiments to determine the effect of temperature and photoperiod on Mb,BMR and physiological markers of metabolic activity,in the Eurasian Tree Sparrow(Passer montanus).Methods:In one experiment,we measured monthly change in Mb and BMR in a captive group of birds over a *** another experiment,we examined the effects of acclimating birds to two different temperatures,10 and 30℃,and a long and a short photoperiod(16 h light:8 h dark and 8 h light:16 h dark,respectively)for 4 ***:We found that these treatments induced sparrows to adjust their Mb and metabolic rate *** to 30℃for 4 weeks significantly decreased sparrows’Mb,BMR,and energy intake,including both gross energy intake and digestible energy intake,compared to birds acclimated to 10℃.The dry mass of the liver,kidneys and digestive tract of birds acclimated to 30℃also significantly decreased,although their heart and skeletal muscle mass did not change significantly relative to those acclimated to 10℃.Birds acclimated to 30℃also had lower mitochondrial state-4 respiration(S4R)and cytochrome c oxidase(COX)activity in their liver and skeletal muscle,compared to those acclimated to 10℃.Birds acclimated to the long photoperiod also had lower mitochondrial S4R and COX activity in their liver,compared to those acclimated to the short ***:These results illustrate the changes in morphology,physiology,and enzyme activity induced by seasonal change in temperature and photoperiod in a small

The use of freely-available multi-source imagery for mapping vegetation in montane terrain is important for many developing countries that do not have the funding for high-resolution data *** images are also now freely available and include Sentinel-1 in dual polarisation,and *** images can penetrate cloud cover and provide the advantage of acquiring data in a cloudy tropical *** research evaluated whether the addition of radar with optical and topographic data improves classification accuracy in a montane region in Sri *** classification experiments were designed based on different combinations of image data to test whether radar data improved land cover classification accuracy compared with optical data *** forest classifier in the Google Earth Engine has been utilised to classify the tropical montane *** results indicate that radar or optical data alone cannot obtain satisfactory ***,when combining radar with optical data the overall accuracy increased by approximately 5%,and by an additional 2%when topography data were *** highest accuracy(92%)was achieved with multiple imagery,and adding the vegetation indices improved the model slightly by 0.3%.In addition,feature importance analysis showed that radar data makes a significant contribution to the *** positive outcomes demonstrate that freely-accessible multi-source remotely-sensed data have impressive capability for vegetation mapping,and support the monitoring and managing of forest ecological resources in tropical montane regions.

This paper celebrates Professor Yongqi GAO's significant achievement in the field of interdisciplinary studies within the context of his final research project Arctic Climate Predictions: Pathways to Resilient Sustainable Societies-ARCPATH(https://***/en/projects/finished-projects/arcpath). The disciplines represented in the project are related to climatology, anthropology, marine biology, economics, and the broad spectrum of social-ecological studies. Team members were drawn from the Nordic countries, Russia, China, the United States, and Canada. The project was transdisciplinary as well as interdisciplinary as it included collaboration with local knowledge holders. ARCPATH made significant contributions to Arctic research through an improved understanding of the mechanisms that drive climate variability in the Arctic. In tandem with this research, a combination of historical investigations and social, economic, and marine biological fieldwork was carried out for the project study areas of Iceland, Greenland, Norway, and the surrounding seas, with a focus on the joint use of ocean and sea-ice data as well as social-ecological drivers. ARCPATH was able to provide an improved framework for predicting the near-term variation of Arctic climate on spatial scales relevant to society, as well as evaluating possible related changes in socioeconomic realms. In summary, through the integration of information from several different disciplines and research approaches, ARCPATH served to create new and valuable knowledge on crucial issues, thus providing new pathways to action for Arctic communities.

Objective To compare the bacterioplankton communities in streams exposed to pollution of different types. Methods The bacterioplankton communities in three selected heavily polluted streams were investigated by using terminal‐restriction fragment length polymorphism （T‐RFLP） analysis in combination with 16S rRNA gene clone library analysis. Results Both T‐RFLP and 16S rRNA gene clone library revealed a great difference in bacterioplankton community composition in the different streams. Conclusion This work might provide some new insights into bioremediation of heavily polluted streams.

Adenosine triphosphate(ATP)generation of aquatic organisms is often subject to nanoparticles(NPs)stress,involving extensive reprogramming of gene expression and changes in enzyme activity accompanied by metabolic ***,little is known about the mechanism of energy supply by ATP to regulate the metabolism of aquatic organisms under NPs ***,we selected extensively existing silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)to investigate their implications on ATP generation and relevant metabolic pathways in alga(Chlorella vulgaris).Results showed that ATP content significantly decreased by 94.2%of the control(without AgNPs)in the algal cells at 0.20 mg/L AgNPs,which was mainly attributed to the reduction of chloroplast ATPase activity(81.4%)and the downregulation of ATPase-coding genes atpB and atpH(74.5%-82.8%)in *** dynamics simulations demonstrated that AgNPs competed with the binding sites of substrates adenosine diphosphate and inorganic phosphate by forming a stable complex with ATPase subunit beta,potentially resulting in the reduced binding efficiency of ***,metabolomics analysis proved that the ATP content positively correlated with the content of most differential metabolites such as D-talose,myo-inositol,and *** remarkably inhibited ATPinvolving metabolic pathways,including inositol phosphate metabolism,phosphatidylinositol signaling system,glycerophospholipid metabolism,aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis,and glutathione *** results could provide a deep understanding of energy supply in regulating metabolic disturbances under NPs stress.

The aim of this research work was to evaluate the potential of using renewable natural feedstock,i.e.,Jatropha curcas oil(JCO)for the synthesis of non-isocyanate polyurethane(NIPU)resin for wood composite *** polyurethane(PU)is synthesized through a polycondensation reaction between isocyanate and ***,utilizing toxic and unsustainable isocyanates for obtaining PU could contribute to negative impacts on the environment and human ***,the development of PU from eco-friendly and sustainable resources without the isocyanate route is *** this work,tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide was used as the activator to open the epoxy ring with 3-Aminopropyltriethoxisylane as a catalyst to yield urethane of JCO(UJCO).The UJCO were characterized by Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy(FTIR)and their oxirane,and hydroxyl values were *** result showed that a decrease in oxirane value was found while the hydroxyl value was increased during the time,confirming that the urethane group was *** presence of functional groups in FTIR spectra at wave numbers 1732.08,1562.34,and 3348.42 cm^(−1) indicates the functional groups of C=O(urethane carbonyl),–NH,and–OH,respectively confirmed this *** potential applications of NIPU in the wood composite were also outlined.
