The micro-ablation processes and morphological evolution of ablative craters on single-crystal magnesium under subpicosecond laser irradiation are investigated using molecular dynamics(MD) simulations and *** simulation results exhibit that the main failure mode of single-crystal Mg film irradiated by a low fluence and long pulse width laser is the ejection of surface atoms,which has laser-induced high ***,under high fluence and short pulse width laser irradiation,the main damage mechanism is nucleation fracture caused by stress wave reflection and superposition at the bottom of the *** addition,Mg[0001] has higher pressure sensitivity and is more prone to ablation than Mg[0001].The evolution equation of crater depth is established using multi-pulse laser ablation simulation and verified by *** results show that,under multiple pulsed laser irradiation,not only does the crater depth increase linearly with the pulse number,but also the quadratic term and constant term of the fitted crater profile curve increase linearly.

In the pursuit of multifunctional coatings,the controlled growth of materials on stationary platforms holds paramount importance for achieving superior corrosion protection and optimal photocatalytic *** study introduces a cutting-edge approach,intertwining bifunctional metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)seamlessly into defective MgO layers produced by the anodic oxidation of AZ31 *** metallic oxides of Zn,Sn,and V take center stage as metallic sources for MOF formation,complemented by the organic prowess of L-Tryptophan as anα-amino acid *** the electronic structure of metallic oxides reacting with tryptophan molecules,controlled morphologies with distinct characteristics are induced on the defective surface of the MgO layer,enabling the precise modulation of surface *** hybrid composite demonstrates an adaptive microstructure in diverse aqueous environments,offering dual functionality with electrochemical stability and visible light photocatalytic activity for crystal violet *** the samples,the SnOF complex exhibited remarkable electrochemical stability with a low corrosion current density of 7.50×10^(−10)A·cm^(−2),along with a 94.56%degradation efficiency after 90 min under visible light *** VOF complex,under similar visible light conditions,demonstrated exceptional performance with a higher degradation efficiency of 97.79%and excellent electrochemical stability characterized by a corrosion current density of 3.26×10^(−9)A·cm^(−2).Additionally,Density Functional Theory(DFT)computations shed light on the basic bonding patterns between MOFs and inorganic components,providing electronic understanding of their electrochemical and photocatalytic activities.

Dual-phase heterointerface electrocatalysts(DPHE)constructed by oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)-and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)-active elements exhibit excellent bifunctional activity and long-term durability due to the abundant interface exposure and synergistic catalytic ***,low-dimensional N-doped graphene nanoribbons(N-GNRs)coupling with ultrathin CoO nanocomposites(N-GNRs/CoO)were controllably fabricated through a facile two-step approach using synthesized Co(OH)_2 nanosheet as CoO *** functional theory(DFT)calculations and experimental characterizations prove that the formation of interface between N-GNRs and CoO can induce local charge redistribution,contributing to the improvement of catalytic activity and *** optimal N-GNRs/CoO DPHE possesses hierarchically porous architectures and presents outstanding bifunctional activities with a small potential gap of 0.729 V between the potential at 10 mA·cm^(-2)for OER and the halfwave potential for ORR,which outperforms Pt/C+IrO_(2)and the majority of noble-metal-free bifunctional ***-and solid-state rechargeable Zn-air batteries assembled with N-GNRs/CoO as the cathode also display high peak power density and fantastic cycle stability,superior to that of benchmark Pt/C+IrO_(2)*** is anticipated to offer significant benefits toward high activity,stability and mechanical flexibility bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts for rechargeable Zn-air batteries.

Dear Editor, This letter is concerned with the evolution strategy for addressing multi-objective feature selection problems in classification. Previous methods suffer from limitations such as being trapped in local optima and lacking stability. To overcome them, we propose a novel eliteguided mechanism based on information theory. Firstly, an elite solution is generated through a dimension reduction strategy and incorporated to the initialization population.

The selective aqueous-phase glycerol hydrogenolysis is a promising reaction to produce commercially useful 1,3-propanediol(1,3-PDO).The Pt-WOx bifunctional catalyst can catalyse the glycerol hydrogenol-ysis but the catalyst deactivation via sintering,metal leaching,and coking can predominantly occur in the aqueous phase *** this work,the effect of reaction temperature,pressure and second promoter(Cu,Fe,Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,Sn,B,and P)on catalytic performance and deactivation behaviour of Pt/WOx/-Al2O3 was *** doped with Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,B,and P,the second promoter boosts catalytic activity by promoting great dispersion of Pt on support and increasing Pt surface *** increased Bronsted acid sites lead to selective synthesis of 1,3-PDO than 1,2-propanediol(1,2-PDO).The characterization studies of fresh and spent catalysts reveal that the main cause of catalyst deactivation is the Pt sintering,as interpreted based on XRD,CO chemisorption,and TEM *** Pt sintering is affected depending on the second promoter that can either or reduce the interaction between Pt,WO_(χ)/γ and Al_(2)O_(3).As an electron acceptor of Pt in Pt/WO_(χ)/γ-Al_(2)O_(3),Re and Mn as second promoters resulted in increased Pt^(2+) on the catalytic surface,which strengthens the contact between Pt andγ-Al_(2)O_(3) and WO_(χ),resulting in a decrease in Pt *** metal leaching and coking are not affected by the presence of second *** catalyst modified with a second promoter possesses improved catalytic activity and 1,3-PDO production,however the stability continues to remain a *** present work unrav-elled the determining parameters of catalytic activity and deactivation,thus providing a promising pro-tocol toward effective catalysts for glycerol hydrogenolysis.

In this decade,coal fly ash(CFA)is considered a potential secondary source of rare earth elements(REEs).However,most REEs in coal fly ash are encapsulated in aluminosilicate glass,making it challenging to recover them through acid *** this study,a sequential alkaline-organic acid leaching was developed for the recovery of REEs from *** effect of alkaline leaching using NaOH solution on the destructive ability of aluminosilicate glass,as well as the mineralogy and morphology changes of the resulting coal fly ash,was first ***,the effectiveness of alkaline leaching on the recovery ability of REEs through organic acid leaching was *** results show that the maximum leaching efficiency for Si and Al,which was obtained at the optimum alkaline leaching conditions,namely NaOH concentration of 10 mol/L,reaction temperature of 65℃,liquid/solid(L/S)ratio of 10 mL/g,and reaction time of 90 min,is 28%and 32%,*** digestion reaction with NaOH lixiviants also causes coal fly ash to become more porous,making it advantageous in the organic acid-leaching process at the REEs recovery *** utilization of the desilicated residue produced from the digestion process in acid leaching effectively increases the overall REEs recovery from 32.2%to 77.6%.

Two-Stream Approximation to the Radiative Transfer Equation:A New Improvement and Comparative Accuracy with Existing Methods

Mathematical modeling of the interaction between solar radiation and the Earth's atmosphere is formalized by the radiative transfer equation(RTE), whose resolution calls for two-stream approximations among other methods. This paper proposes a new two-stream approximation of the RTE with the development of the phase function and the intensity into a third-order series of Legendre polynomials. This new approach, which adds one more term in the expression of the intensity and the phase function, allows in the conditions of a plane parallel atmosphere a new mathematical formulation of γparameters. It is then compared to the Eddington, Hemispheric Constant, Quadrature, Combined Delta Function and Modified Eddington, and second-order approximation methods with reference to the Discrete Ordinate(Disort) method(δ –128 streams), considered as the most precise. This work also determines the conversion function of the proposed New Method using the fundamental definition of two-stream approximation(F-TSA) developed in a previous work. Notably,New Method has generally better precision compared to the second-order approximation and Hemispheric Constant methods. Compared to the Quadrature and Eddington methods, New Method shows very good precision for wide domains of the zenith angle μ 0, but tends to deviate from the Disort method with the zenith angle, especially for high values of optical thickness. In spite of this divergence in reflectance for high values of optical thickness, very strong correlation with the Disort method(R ≈ 1) was obtained for most cases of optical thickness in this study. An analysis of the Legendre polynomial series for simple functions shows that the high precision is due to the fact that the approximated functions ameliorate the accuracy when the order of approximation increases, although it has been proven that there is a limit order depending on the function from which the precision is lost. In hydrodynamic bearings traditional bearing alloys:Babbitts and bronzes are most frequently *** sliding layers are sometimes applied as a valuable *** diamond-like carbon(DLC)coatings,which are also considered for certain applications may show some advantages,as *** material selection is of secondary importance in a full film lubrication regime it becomes important in mixed friction conditions,which is crucial for bearings with frequent starts and *** research aimed at studying the performance of fluid film bearings in the specific operating regime,including the transition to mixed friction,is described in the *** tests were carried out on four tilting pad bearings of different material compositions:Steel/bronze,DLC/steel,steel/polyether ether ketone(PEEK),and steel/*** tests comprised stopping under load and reproduction of the Stribeck curve by decreasing rotational speed to very low values,and observing the changes of friction force during the transition to mixed friction *** of the transition conditions and other results showed clear differences between the tested bearings,illustrating the feasibility of less popular material compositions for bearings operating in specific *** specifically,the DLC/steel bearing was demonstrating superior performance,*** friction,transition to mixed friction occurring at higher load,and more stable performance at start-stop regime over the other tested bearings.
