Efficient Partitioning Method for Optimizing the Compression on Array Data

Array partitioning is an important research problem in array management area,since the partitioning strategies have important influence on storage,query evaluation,and other components in array management ***,compression is highly needed for the array data due to its growing *** that the array partitioning can affect the compression performance significantly,this paper aims to design the efficient partitioning method for array data to optimize the compression *** far as we know,there still lacks research efforts on this *** this paper,the problem of array partitioning for optimizing the compression performance(PPCP for short)is firstly *** adopt a popular compression technique which allows to process queries on the compressed data without ***,because the above problem is NP-hard,two essential principles for exploring the partitioning solution are introduced,which can explain the core idea of the partitioning algorithms proposed by *** first principle shows that the compression performance can be improved if an array can be partitioned into two parts with different *** second principle introduces a greedy strategy which can well support the selection of the partitioning positions *** by the two principles,two greedy strategy based array partitioning algorithms are designed for the independent case and the dependent case *** the expensive cost of the algorithm for the dependent case,a further optimization based on random sampling and dimension grouping is proposed to achieve linear time ***,the experiments are conducted on both synthetic and real-life data,and the results show that the two proposed partitioning algorithms achieve better performance on both compression and query evaluation.

Simulation study on the security of consensus algorithms in DAG-based distributed ledger

Due to the advantages of high volume of transactions and low resource consumption,Directed Acyclic Graph(DAG)-based Distributed Ledger Technology(DLT)has been considered a possible next-generation alternative to ***,the security of the DAG-based system has yet to be comprehensively *** at verifying and evaluating the security of DAG-based DLT,we develop a Multi-Agent based IOTA Simulation platform called *** MaiOTASim,we model honest and malicious nodes and simulate the configurable network environment,including network topology and *** double-spending attack is a particular security issue related to *** perform the security verification of the consensus algorithms under multiple double-spending attack *** simulations show that the consensus algorithms can resist the parasite chain attack and partially resist the splitting attack,but they are ineffective under the large weight *** take the cumulative weight difference of transactions as the evaluation criterion and analyze the effect of different consensus algorithms with parameters under each attack ***,MaiOTASim enables users to perform largescale simulations with multiple nodes and tens of thousands of transactions more efficiently than state-of-the-art ones.

Development and Verification of Simulation Model Based on Real MANET Experiments for Transport Layer Protocols (UDP and TCP)

There is a lack of appropriate guidelines for realistic user traces, mobility models, routing protocols, considerations of real-life challenges, etc. for general-purpose mobile ad hoc networks （MANET）. In this paper, four laptops are used in an open field environment in four scenarios to evaluate the performances of Internet control message protocol （ICMP） based ping and transmission control protocol （TCP） based streaming video applications using optimised link state routing （OLSR） implementation in an IEEE 802.11g wireless network. Corresponding simulations are developed in Network Simulator ns-2 by setting simulation parameters according to the real experiments. Difficulties faced to regenerate real-life scenarios have been discussed and the gaps between reality and simulation are identified. A setup guideline to produce realistic simulation results has been established.

On finite 2-groups all of whose subgroups are mutually isomorphic

In this paper we investigate the title groups which we call isomaximal. We give the list of all isomaximal 2-groups with abelian maximal subgroups. Further, we prove some properties of isomaximal 2-groups with nonabelian maximal subgroups. After that, we investigate the structure of isomaximal groups of order less than 64. Finally, in Theorem 14. we show that the minimal nonmetacyclic group of order 32 possesses a unique isomaximal extension of order 64.

Adaptive Update Distribution Estimation under Probability Byzantine Attack

The secure and normal operation of distributed networks is crucial for accurate parameter ***,distributed networks are frequently susceptible to Byzantine *** real-life scenarios,this paper investigates a probability Byzantine(PB)attack,utilizing a Bernoulli distribution to simulate the attack ***,additional detection mechanisms are used to mitigate such attacks,leading to increased energy consumption and burdens on distributed nodes,consequently diminishing operational *** from these approaches,an adaptive updating distributed estimation algorithm is proposed to mitigate the impact of PB *** the proposed algorithm,a penalty strategy is initially incorporated during data updates to weaken the influence of the ***,an adaptive fusion weight is employed during data fusion to merge the ***,the reason why this penalty term weakens the attack has been analyzed,and the performance of the proposed algorithm is validated through simulation experiments.

An Efficient and Secure Authentication Protocol for RFID Systems

The use of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags may cause privacy violation of users carrying an RFID tag. Due to the unique identification number of the RFID tag, the possible privacy threats are information leakage of a tag, traceability of the consumer, denial of service attack, replay attack and impersonation of a tag, etc. There are a number of challenges in providing privacy and security in the RFID tag due to the limited computation, storage and communication ability of low-cost RFID tags. Many research works have already been conducted using hash functions and pseudorandom numbers. As the same random number can recur many times, the adversary can use the response derived from the same random number for replay attack and it can cause a break in location privacy. This paper proposes an RFID authentication protocol using a static identifier, a monotonically increasing timestamp, a tag side random number and a hash function to protect the RFID system from adversary attacks. The proposed protocol also indicates that it requires less storage and computation than previous existing RFID authentication protocols but offers a larger range of security protection. A simulation is also conducted to verify some of the privacy and security properties of the proposed protocol.

A Sensor-based SLAM Algorithm for Camera Tracking in Virtual Studio

This paper addresses a sensor-based simultaneous localization and mapping （SLAM） algorithm for camera tracking in a virtual studio environment. The traditional camera tracking methods in virtual studios are vision-based or sensor-based. However, the chroma keying process in virtual studios requires color cues, such as blue background, to segment foreground objects to be inserted into images and videos. Chroma keying limits the application of vision-based tracking methods in virtual studios since the background cannot provide enough feature information. Furthermore, the conventional sensor-based tracking approaches suffer from the jitter, drift or expensive computation due to the characteristics of individual sensor system. Therefore, the SLAM techniques from the mobile robot area are first investigated and adapted to the camera tracking area. Then, a sensor-based SLAM extension algorithm for two dimensional （2D） camera tracking in virtual studio is described. Also, a technique called map adjustment is proposed to increase the accuracy＇ and efficiency of the algorithm. The feasibility and robustness of the algorithm is shown by experiments. The simulation results demonstrate that the sensor-based SLAM algorithm can satisfy the fundamental 2D camera tracking requirement in virtual studio environment.

Self-contained Capsubot Propulsion Mechanism

In this paper, a self contained capsubot （capsule robot） propulsion mechanism is investigated. The proposed capsubot works on the principle of internal force-static friction. A modified linear DC motor is used to drive the capsubot. A novel acceleration profile is proposed for the moving part （linear cylinder） based on the principle. A significant feature of the proposed capsubot is that it is legless, wheelless, and trackless. The developed capsubot with a proposed propulsion mechanism demonstrates a very good average velocity. The propulsion mechanism has the potential to be used for the propulsion of a wireless-controlled self-propelling capsule endoscope. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the performance of the self-contained capsubot with the proposed acceleration profile.
