The Doctrine of the Mean is one of the major Confucian classics focusing on natural justiOe and its political implications via cosmic dynamics and its harmonious eternity. The rule of the saints modeling themselves after the heaven＇s virtue is advocated as the so-called rule of man, or the rule of virtue, in which natural harmony in the cosmos is believed to be the manifestation of eternal and universal justice. Both the editors of The Doctrine of the Mean in pre-Qin dynasty and its commentators in the Tang dynasty have availed themselves in repudiating the legalist utilitarianism abused in the despotic Qin dynasty and empty-world thoughts of Buddhism prevalent in the Tang dynasty by virtue of natural justice and cosmic fairness in heaven-mandated- nature theory. Their academic endeavors are directed at consolidating cosmological faith and moral fairness for Confucian political ideology in self-disciplining, family establishing, country ruling, and world harmonizing.

Rationale:This study aims to contribute to settling the lack of consensus regarding the determinants of bank performance,not only by considering bank governance,but also by including factors such as CEO compensation and risk management *** literature has included bank governance and considered only large banks in their *** exclusion of other factors such as small-and medium-size banks may render the findings of these studies limited in ***:The objective of this paper is to examine the impact of internal governance on bank ***:To achieve this goal,we used annual data of a sample of ten Tunisian commercial banks listed in the Tunisian Stock Exchange observed during the period 1998–*** use the Generalized Method of Moments(GMM)to estimate the parameters of our econometric ***:Our study finds that the correlation between the size of the board of directors,the state’s inclusion,and the presence of independent directors is positive and *** the other hand,we have found that CEO compensation,as well as foreign and institutional investors negatively affect the performance of the *** and implications:Tunisian banks are invited to broaden their size through appropriate restructuring,adopt new remuneration policies and define the optimal number of directors representing the state within the board of *** results suggest managerial implications that can be of great value to ensuring the success of Tunisian *** latter should favor a higher presence of independent directors to reduce the bank control ineffectiveness caused by having a significant number of foreign and institutional investors in the board of directors.

Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and China’s regularized pandemic prevention and control,leading legal scholars from China,North America,and Eurasia participated in The 6th International Conference on Human Rights Protection under Pandemic Prevention and *** engaged in fruitful discussions on the normative necessity and practical relevance of the principle of proportionality in justifying their current governments’anti-pandemic *** on pandemic-related human rights conditions and rule of law challenges in global contexts,this article summarizes the participating scholars’speeches through the integrated lens of human rights and the jurisprudence of health law in the COVID-19 containment *** can be divided into six topical dimensions,involving normative utility,governance logic,reasonable limits,constitutional criteria,viable approaches,and post-pandemic challenges with respect to the principle of *** provide a more policy-relevant and theoretically sound framework for a community of common health for mankind,this article succinctly concludes with a series of overlapping consensus on the application of the principle of proportionality in the fight against the *** consensus,tentatively named the“Renmin Human Rights Consensus,”builds on five interrelated elements and generates five human rights assertions and a series of specific principles of health law.

This study aims to understand the work-family facilitation and its antecedents. Positive synergies from work and family domains （work-family facilitation） were examined from interviewing financial service employees （N = 15） in Taiwan. Data analysis showed：（1） resources from both work and family domains, （2） the themes of work-family facilitation, （3） the relationship between work-family facilitation and the obtained resources across domains. These findings have managerial implications for designing work-and family-relevant policies that enhance work-family facilitation to further improve employees＇ quality and functions of work and family life.

We investigate the significance of extreme positive returns in the cross-sectional pricing of *** portfolio-level analyses and weekly cross-sectional regressions on all cryptocurrencies in our sample period,we provide evidence for a positive and statistically significant relationship between the maximum daily return within the previous month(MAX)and the expected returns on *** particular,the univariate portfolio analysis shows that weekly average raw and riskadjusted return differences between portfolios of cryptocurrencies with the highest and lowest MAX deciles are 3.03%and 1.99%,*** results are robust with respect to the differences in size,price,momentum,short-term reversal,liquidity,volatility,skewness,and investor sentiment.

Objective:To evaluate the success rate of tuberculosis intervention programme at a specialist hospital in(?)badan,Nigeria through a retrospective study as well as carry out physicochemical evaluation of anti-tuberculous agents as a way of eliminating drug-related ***:The retrospective study involved the use of quarterly tuberculosis central register at the Government Chest Hospital,(?)badan between 1st quarter(2003)to 4th quarter(2009).Relevant data were extracted from these register with the aid of data collection *** basic physicochemical analyses of the drugs given to the patients were also carried out using the International Pharmacopoeia ***:All the drugs examined for their physicochemical properties passed the International Pharmacopeia recommended tests.A total number of 1 260 patients enrolled at the hospital were assessed through case *** comprises of 59.4%males of which69.23%new cases were also *** was a significant(P0.05).Failure rates in all categories were higher in males than females(P>0.05).Conclusions:More enlightenment and counseling is still required to meet up with the target for TB control.

Nowadays,it is common for suppliers to be separated from their buyers by great *** means that,if some items in the lot turn out to be defective,the distance makes it uneconomical to order replacements from the original ***,both Type I and Type II errors may occur in the screening process for eliminating defective items and the combination of defective items and inspection errors may lead to *** with these assumptions,this paper develops two distinct *** the first model,defective items are repaired by a local repair shop subject to a repair charge and a mark-up *** the second model,a local supplier replaces the defective with good ones,but at a higher *** expected total profit per cycle is developed,together with the expected cycle time,and,employing the renewal reward theorem,the objective function is derived,from which the optimum values are obtained for the order and shortage *** paper presents numerical results and a discussion for both *** study finds that repairing defective items generally leads to greater total profit than purchasing local replacements.

In this paper,a theoretical frame on how the IT investment influences the innovation performance of enterprise is set up,and the data of Chinese industrial listed companies is used to conduct an empirical *** study shows that IT investment can improve the innovation performance of enterprises on the whole,but there is heterogeneity among different types of ***,IT investment of low-innovation strategy-oriented enterprises has a stronger effect on innovation performance than high-innovation strategy-oriented enterprises;IT investment of large enterprises has a more significant effect on innovation performance;and IT investment of state-owned enterprises has a stronger effect on innovation performance than that of non-state-owned *** conclusions not only provide microscopic evidence for the promotion of innovation performance by IT investment of industrial enterprises,but also have important policy implications for the integration of informatization and industrialization and the construction of a digital China.
