Background: Liver abscess (la) is a suppurated collection in the hepatic parenchyma. In Africa, liver abscesses are most often of amoebic origin, but more recently, the rate of pyogenic liver abscesses (Pla) has increased. Objective: to assess the epidemiological characteristics, clinical features, biological radiological findings, and outcomes of patients with Pla and with amebic liver abscess (Ala) in order to determine the potential factors that may help improve diagnosis and treatment for la in the context of secondary care centers with limited medical supports. Methods: Retrospective review of la diagnosed and treated at three secondary care centers in Thiès over 11 years. Results: 61 patients, were included, 52.45% had Ala and 47.54% had Pla. Males were predominant (79.31% in Pla vs 65.63% in Ala, p = 0.2). The median age was 38 years for the Pla group vs 39 years for the Ala group (p = 0.4). In both groups, the most common symptom was right upper abdominal pain (81.97%), hepatomegaly (81.97%). The Pla group had a higher prevalence of fever (79.31% vs 46.88%, p = 0,009), chills (51.72% vs 18.75%, p = 0.007), right basi-thoracic pain (55.17% vs 28.13%, p = 0.032), and jaundice (55.17% vs 28%, p = 0.032). There was no difference in radiological features between Pla and Ala. Patients with Pla had a higher level of White blood cell (20.600 vs 15.400, p = 0.014). The most common bacteria identified in Pla were Escherichia coli (58.8%). All patients had received antibiotic therapy, which was combined with aspiration puncture (37.3%), transcutaneous drainage (43.3%), and surgery (9.0%). Seven patients had received antibiotic therapy alone and all had amoebic abscesses. Elsewhere, the occurrence of complications was higher in Pla cases (75.86% vs 37.5%, p = 0.003). The overall hospital mortality rate was 13.11%, higher in cases of Pla (24.14% vs 3.13%, p = 0.022). Conclusion: Clinical and biological features were more severe in Pla. In this work the structural,electronic and thermoelectric properties of YbMg_(2)X_(2)(X=P,As,Sb,Bi)zintl compounds were investigated comprehensively using first principles *** electronic properties were studied using PBE GGA,TB-mBJ and hybrid(YS-PBE0)*** the structural parameters of optimized structures are in harmonious agreement to the available *** band structure study illustrates that the titled materials manifest metallic and semi metallic nature using PBE and TB-mBJ potentials while they show wide band gap semiconducting behavior by following hybrid(YS-PBE0)*** density of states(TDOS)and partial density of states(PDOS)were also calculated to glimpse the contribution of orbitals of atoms in the formation of *** properties were studied by using BoltzTraP2 code employed to *** get enormous values of Seebeck coefficient(S),power factor(PF)and thermoelectric figure of merit(ZT)for all the samples YbMg_(2)X_(2)(X=P,As,Sb,Bi),Moreover,the overwhelming transport properties for the titled compounds indicate the optimum level of carriers’concentration which pinpoints these materials to be better thermoelectrics in the 1-2-2 zintl family.

Introduction: Malaria eradication campaigns all over the world are largely based on parasite and vector control. Vector identification, whether morphological or molecular, is an essential component of vector control. This study analyzed the possible causes of indeterminate polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results for mosquito species in Western part of Burkina Faso. Methodology: From July 2021 to November 2021, mosquitoes were collected during the period of high malaria transmission in the village of Séguéré, Houet province, Burkina Faso, and morphologically identified. After DNA extraction, samples were amplified by sine 200× PCR to identify species of the Anopheles gambiae complex. Indeterminate samples were then selected for further analysis. The parameters studied were: DNA dilution, the effect of protocol adjusting, and the type of protocol used. Results: A total of 130 “indeterminate” DNAs diluted 1:10 were analyzed. After dilution, the mean amount was 14.73 ± 3.59 ng/μL and absorbance 1.71 ± 0.1. PCR chain reaction yielded 94.62% (123/130) anopheline species in SINE PCR, 5.38% (7/130) “negative”. A significant difference between SINE PCR before dilution and after dilution was observed (P dentification tests carried out using other protocols gave no positive results. From these results, we note that the adaptation of the protocol significantly reduced the polymerase amplification results of the species. Conclusion: It is therefore necessary to respect the amplification protocols. However, the persistence of “indeterminate” results suggests that further studies should be carried out to shed more light on the subject.

The fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Diptera: Tephritidae) is one of the most important pests in all mango-producing areas, particularly in West Africa. In Senegal, O. americanum leaves have been used for several years to control this fly. However, to our knowledge, no chemical studies have been carried out. Thus, the aim of this study is to determine the chemical composition of the essential oil of O. americanum leaves collected in Senegal and Gambia. The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of these leaves is analyzed by GC/FID and GC/MS. Yields of essential oils from O. americanum leaves are 3.84% and 2.13%, respectively. Analysis of these essential oils by GC/FID and GC/MS allowed the identification of 23 compounds representing almost 100% of the total compositions. These essential oils are mainly dominated by methyleugenol (72.0% and 75.8%, respectively). Other components in significant percent are trans-β-caryophyllene (13.9% and 13.0%, respectively), germacrene D (4.1% and 3.7%, respectively), β-elemene (3.3% and 0.9%, respectively). Due to the high methyleugenol content, this study explains the attractive potential of O. americanum towards B. dorsalis. In perspective, we plan to evaluate the attractive effect of the essential oil and leaf powder of O. americanum against B. dorsalis, a real pest of mango orchards in Senegal.

We conducted a theoretical study on the electronic properties of a single-layer graphene asymmetric quantum *** of energy levels is limited by electron–hole conversion at the barrier interfaces and free-electron ***–hole conversion at the barrier interfaces can be controlled by introducing an asymmetry between barriers and taking into account the effect of the interactions of the graphene sheet with the *** interaction with the substrate induces an effective mass to carriers,allowing observation of Fabry–P′erot resonances under normal incidence and extinction of Klein *** asymmetry,between barriers creates a transmission gap between confined states and free-electron continuum,allowing the large graphene asymmetric quantum well to be exploited as a photo-detector operating at mid-and far-infrared frequency regimes.

The present study concerns the measurement of the convective heat transfer coefficient on the solid-fluid interface by the pulsed photothermal *** non-intrusive technique is apphed for the measurement of the local heat transfer coefficients in cooling of a rectangular slab that simulates an electronic *** heat transfer coefficient is deduced from the evolution of the transient temperature induced by a sudden deposit of a luminous energy on the front face of the *** order to draw up the heat transfer cartography by a non-destructive tool, the infrared thermography has been *** inverse techniques for the identification of the heat transfer coefficient are presented *** first one is based on the assumption that heat transfer coefficient remains constant during the pulsed experiment,and the second one considered it variable in space and *** temporal and spatial evolutions are expressed as a constant heat transfer coefficient(h_0)multiplied by a function of time and space f(x,t).The function f is deduced from the resolution of the conjugated convection-conduction problem,by a control volume technique for the case of thermally thick *** results are given for different air velocities and deflection angles of the flow.

In this study,the kerogen of oil shale from Moroccan Tarfaya deposits was isolated and the changes in the initial organic matter during the removal of the mineral matrix were *** extraction of the oil shale increases the intensity of the peaks in the X-ray *** spectra and X-ray diffractograms reveal the presence of mineral,calcite,quartz,kaolinite,and pyrite in the mineral matrix of the oil *** and hydrofluoric acids dissolution do not alter the organic *** nonisothermal weight loss measurements indicate that thermal decomposition of the isolated kerogen can be described by first-order reaction.A single kinetic expression is valid over the temperature range of kerogen pyrolysis between 433K and ***,the results indicate that the removal of mineral matter causes a decrease in the activation energies of the pyrolysis reactions of oil shale.

In this work, we study the DKP equation subjected to the action of combined vector plus scalar energy depend on potentials in(1+1) dimensions space-time. The conditions of normalisation and continuity equation are calculated. The eigenfunctions and the corresponding eigenvalues are then determined. A numerical study is presented and the energy graphs for some values of the energy parameter are plotted.

Borrowing ideas from elliptic complex geometry, we approach M-theory compactifications on real fibrations. Precisely, we explore real toric equations rather than complex ones exploited in F-theory and related dual models. These geometries have been built by moving real toric manifolds over real bases. Using topological changing behaviors, we unveil certain data associated with gauge sectors relying on affine lie symmetries.
