Nowadays,the zero liquid discharge of flue gas desulfurization(FGD)wastewater from coal-fired units has attracted the attention of all countries in the *** pretreatment methods generally have the problems of high operation cost,small treatment capacity,and poor ***,the membrane method can avoid the above *** the current research,it has not been found that someone directly uses submerged ultrafiltration to pretreat FGD ***,this paper innovatively proposed to directly use ceramic ultrafiltration membrane to treat FGD wastewater,which can ensure effluent quality and improve the flexibility of the pretreatment *** this paper,the performance of submerged ultrafiltration membrane for the filtration of FGD wastewater from a power plant was studied to optimize the filtration performance and improve the effluent *** effects of operating parameters such as membrane permeate flux,aeration rate and filtration/backwashing time combination on the membrane performance were *** results showed that when the filtration/backwashing time combination was 15 min/30 s,with the increased in permeate flux from 55 L/(m2·h)to 100 L/(m2·h),the steady transmembrane pressure(TMP)increased from 39 kPa to 70 kPa,and the fouling rate increased significantly from 4.5 kPa/h to 7.3 kPa/h;When the aeration rate increased from 10 m3/(m2·h)to 30 m3/(m2·h),the membrane pollution was much *** aeration rate cannot further alleviate the membrane pollution,but also brought greater energy consumption;Increasing backwashing time can effectively inhibit the formation of gel layer on the surface of the membrane and prolong the initial stage of low-pressure operation;The rejection of suspended solids(SS)and turbidity of the equipment studied in this paper can reach more than 99%under various working conditions,which can satisfy the water quality requirements of the subsequent *** submerged ultrafiltration membrane was suitable

With rapidly development of pumped storage power station, the high and vertical enclosed isolated phase bus(EIPB) are more and more widely used. In order to reveal the stability of a new type of high-vertical EIPB structure under its own gravity load, the strength of I-shaped steel and cross-arm was verified by analytic calculation and finite element static analysis. This work has important value for the design of the vertical EIPB.

The cofiring of biomass and coal may be one of the most effective methods to improve energy utilization efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas *** study aims to investigate combustion performance,interaction and synergistic effects in the cofiring of coal and three types of *** fuel consisting of coal and three types of biomass such as sawdust,rice husk and solid recovery fuel was selected as the research *** and proximate analysis and differential thermogravimetric analysis with heating rates of between 10°C and 40°C/minute are used to analyse combustion *** of combustion in a 600-MWe steam power plant with a Carolina-type boiler is also carried out with the help of computational fluid dynamic(CFD)analysis to see the effect of the interaction and synergy of the mixed fuel on the performance of the steam *** effect on the com-bustion process in the combustion chamber of a steam power plant is also *** on the analysis of several test results of parameters such as ignition temperature,burnout temperature,calorific value of the fuel mixtures as well as CFD simulation,the results of the study show a strong indication of a positive synergy in mixing some of these biomasses as compared with a fuel mix-ture consisting only of coal and one type of *** no power derating of the boiler occurs until the biomass content in the fuel mixture is~30%on a mass *** reduction in greenhouse gas emissions also appears significant from the results of the CFD simulation of this study,which is characterized by a decrease in the fraction of CO_(2) in flue gas from 21.5%for coal alone as fuel to 15.9%in the case of cofiring excluding the CO_(2) attributed to the biomass.

Background： Ketoconazole （KET）, an antifungal drug, has adverse effects on the male reproductive system. Pre-treatments with antioxidant plant against testicular damage induced by KET are required. The flowers of Clitoria tematea （CT） are proven to have hepatoprotective potential. However, the protective effect on KET-induced testicular damage has not been reported. Objective： To investigate the protective effect of CT flower extracts with antioxidant activity on male reproductive parameters including sperm concentration, serum testosterone level, histopathology of the testis, and testicular tyrosine phosphorylation levels in rats induced with KET. Methods： The antioxidant activity of CT flower extracts was determined using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl （DPPH） and ferric reducing antioxidant power （FRAP） assays. Male rats were treated with CT flower extracts （10, 50, or 100 mg/kg BW） or distilled water via a gastric tube for 28 d （preventive period： Days 1-21） and induced by KET （100 mg/kg BW） via intraperitoneal injection for 7 d （induction period： Days 22-28）. After the experiment, all animals were examined for the weights of the testis, epididymis plus vas deferens and seminal vesicle, serum testosterone levels, sperm concentration, histological structures and diameter of testis, and testicular tyrosine phosphorylation levels by immunoblotting. Results： The CT flower extracts had capabilities for DPPH scavenging and high reducing power. At 100 mg/kg BW, the extract had no toxic effects on the male reproductive system. Significantly, in CT＋KET groups, CT flower extracts （50 and 100 mg/kg BW） alleviated the reduction of reproductive organ weight parameters, testosterone levels, and sperm concentration. In addition, CT flower extracts gave protection from testicular damage in KET-induced rats. Mercury emissions and partitioning from Indian coal-fired power plants

In India coal combustion is the single largest source of emission of mercury which is a widespread persistent global toxicant,travelling across international borders through air and *** a party to the Minamata convention,India aims to monitor and reduce Hg emissions and stricter norms are introduced for mercury emissions from power plants(30μg/Nm 3 for flue gas in stack).This paper presents the results obtained during the experimental studies performed on mercury emissions at four coal-fired and one lignite-fired power plants in *** mercury concentration in the feed coal varied between 0.12-0.27 mg/*** the mercury mass balance,significant proportion of feed coal mercury has been found to be associated with fly ash,whereas bottom ash contained very low mercury.80%-90%of mercury was released to air through stack ***,for circulating fluidised bed boiler burning lignite,about 64.8%of feed mercury was found to get captured in the fly ash and only 32.4%was released to *** mercury emission factor was found to lie in the range of 4.7-15.7 mg/GJ.

Assessment of EST-SSR Markers for Evaluating Genetic Diversity in Watermelon Accessions from Zimbabwe

Fifteen expressed sequence tag (EST)-derived simple sequence repeats (EST-SSRs) were used to investigate genetic diversity in 139 plants obtained from seeds of 35 watermelon accessions collected from all the geographical provinces of Zimbabwe. In addition, 15 plants representing three commercial varieties developed in the United States (USA) were analyzed for comparison. A total of 65 alleles were detected among all the watermelon accessions. For the 13 polymorphic EST-SSR loci, number of alleles per locus varied from 2 to 13, with an average of 5 alleles per locus. Values for the polymorphic information content increased as the number of alleles increased, and varied from 0.15 to 0.77 with an average of 0.54 suggesting sufficient discriminatory power. Both cluster analysis and principal coordinate analysis (PCA) produced two major clusters;one with the 22 cow-melon accessions and the other with the 16 sweet watermelon accessions. Within the sweet watermelon group, two distinct sub-clusters formed, one of which contained only two of the commercial varieties from USA. Partitioning of genetic variation in the Zimbabwean material using analysis of molecular variation (AMOVA) revealed that 64% of the total variation resides between the two major forms, i.e. sweet watermelons and cow-melons, 28% between accessions within forms and 8% within accessions. The EST-SSR markers revealed a somewhat higher diversity in sweet watermelon accessions compared to that of cow-melons. This finding is contrary to previous reports using other markers (genomic SSR loci or RAPD) and/or a plant material that is likely to have experienced more stringent selection procedures compared to the landraces analyzed in our study.

Two decades of suspect evidence for adaptive molecular evolution——negative selection confounding positive-selection signals

There has been a large literature in the last two decades affirming adaptive DNA sequence evolution between *** main lines of evidence are from(i) the McDonald-Kreitman(MK) test,which compares divergence and polymorphism data,and(ii) the phylogenetic analysis by maximum likelihood(PAML) test,which analyzes multispecies divergence ***,we apply these two tests concurrently to genomic data of Drosophila and *** our surprise,the> 100 genes identified by the two tests do not overlap beyond random *** the non-concordance could be due to low powers leading to high false negatives,we merge every 20-30 genes into a 'supergene'.At the supergene level,the power of detection is large but the calls still do not *** rule out methodological reasons for the *** particular,extensive simulations fail to find scenarios whereby positive selection can only be detected by either MK or PAML,but not *** molecular evolution is governed by positive and negative selection concurrently,a fundamental assumption for estimating one of these(say,positive selection) is that the other is ***,in a broad survey of primates,birds,Drosophila and Arabidopsis,we found that negative selection rarely stays constant for long in *** a consequence,the variation in negative selection is often misconstrued as a signal of positive *** conclusion,MK,PAML and any method that examines genomic sequence evolution has to explicitly address the variation in negative selection before estimating positive *** a companion study,we propose a possible path forward in two stages—first,by mapping out the changes in negative selection and then using this map to estimate positive *** now,the large literature on positive selection between species has to await reassessment.

Effect of Pre-Anthesis Drought Hardening on Post-Anthesis Physiological Characteristics,Yield and WUE in Winter Wheat

A drought event can cause yield loss or entire crops to *** order to study the effects of continuous drought on physiological characteristics,yield,and water use efficiency(WUE)of winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.),the variety“Zhoumai 22”was grown in controlled water conditions of the pot-planted winter wheat under a mobile rainout *** planting and safe wintering were used to evaluate,winter wheat under different drought conditions,including light,moderate and severe drought at the jointing,heading,and filling *** soil water content was controlled at 60–70%,50–60%,or 40–50%of field *** trials included 3 pre-anthesis drought hardening,3 three-stage continuous drought,and 1 test control *** drought stress conditions,winter wheat leaf water potential,soil plant analysis development(SPAD),photosynthesis parameters,and yield declined due to pre-anthesis drought *** the degree of decline:continuous drought>pre-anthesis drought *** in the post-anthesis photosynthetic capacity of winter wheat were mainly related to the pre-anthesis drought level,rather than post-anthesis *** threshold of non-stomata limiting factors caused by photosynthesis at the filling stage is 40–50%fc,while comprehensive yield and WUE affected,the yield in severe drought treatments was the most significant,B3C3 and B3C3G3 decreased by 55.68%and 55.88%,***-anthesis drought was the main reason for the decreased crop ***,severe drought should be avoided during planting,while pre-anthesis light drought is a suitable choice for watersaving and crop production,as proper pre-anthesis drought hardening(60–70%fc)is feasible and effective.
