Background:The effects of acupuncture have varied in different randomized controlled trials(RCTs),and there are many factors that influence treatment effect of acupuncture in different outcomes,with conflicting ***:To identify factors and their impact on the treatment effect of acupuncture in different ***:Acupuncture RCTs were searched from 7 databases including Medline(Pub Med),Embase,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,china National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang Database,VIP Database,and china Biology Medicine disc between January 1st,2015 and December 31st,*** studies must compare acupuncture to no acupuncture,sham acupuncture,or waiting lists,and report at least 1patient-important outcome.A multi-level meta-regression was conducted using a 3-level robust mixed model and univariate analyses were performed for all independent variables,even those excluded from the multivariable model due to *** used thresholds of 0.2 and 0.4 for the difference of standardized mean differences(SMDs),categorising them as small(0.4) ***:The pain construct analysis involved 211 effect estimates from 153 studies and 14 independent ***-frequency acupuncture treatment sessions produced larger effects compared to low-frequency sessions [large magnitude,the difference of adjusted SMDs 0.46,95% confidence interval(CI) 0.07 to 0.84;P=0.02].The non-pain symptoms construct analysis comprised 323 effect estimates from 231 studies and 15 independent *** acupuncture showed moderately larger effects when compared to non-penetrating acupuncture(0.30,95% CI 0.06 to 0.53;P=0.01).The function construct analysis included 495 effect estimates from 274 studies and 14 independent *** acupuncture and the flexible acupuncture regimen showed moderately larger effects,compared to non-penetrating acupuncture and fixed regimen,respectively(0.40,95% CI 0

The Effect and Mechanism of Fructus lycii on Improvement of Exercise Fatigue Using a Network Pharmacological Approach with in vitro experimental Verification

Objective This study aimed to investigate the effect and underlying mechanism of Fructus lycii in improving exercise *** A network pharmacological approach was used to explore potential mechanisms of action of Fructus *** muscle C2C12 cells and immunofluorescence were employed to verify the effect and mechanism of the representative components in Fructus lycii predicted by network pharmacological *** Six potential active components,namely quercetin,β-sitosterol,stigmasterol,7-Omethylluteolin-6-C-beta-glucoside_qt,atropine,and glycitein,were identified to have potency in improving exercise fatigue via multiple pathways,such as the PI3K-Akt,neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction,IL-17,TNF,and MAPK signaling *** immunofluorescence results indicated that quercetin,a significant active component in Fructus lycii,increased the mean staining area of 2-NBDG,TMRM,and MitoTracker,and decreased the area of CellRox compared to the ***,the protein expression levels of p-38 MAPK,p-MAPK,p-JNK,p-PI3K,and p-AKT markedly increased after quercetin *** Fructus lycii might alleviate exercise fatigue through multiple components and *** these,quercetin appears to improve exercise fatigue by enhancing energy metabolism and reducing oxidative *** PI3K-AKT and MAPK signaling pathways also appear to play a role in this process.

Identity-Preserving Adversarial Training for Robust Network Embedding

Network embedding,as an approach to learning low-dimensional representations of nodes,has been proved extremely useful in many applications,e.g.,node classification and link ***,existing network embed-ding models are vulnerable to random or adversarial perturbations,which may degrade the performance of network em-bedding when being applied to downstream *** achieve robust network embedding,researchers introduce adversari-al training to regularize the embedding learning process by training on a mixture of adversarial examples and original ***,existing methods generate adversarial examples heuristically,failing to guarantee the imperceptibility of generated adversarial examples,and thus limit the power of adversarial *** this paper,we propose a novel method Identity-Preserving Adversarial Training(IPAT)for network embedding,which generates imperceptible adversarial exam-ples with explicit identity-preserving *** formalize such identity-preserving regularization as a multi-class classification problem where each node represents a class,and we encourage each adversarial example to be discriminated as the class of its original *** experimental results on real-world datasets demonstrate that our proposed IPAT method significantly improves the robustness of network embedding models and the generalization of the learned node representations on various downstream tasks.

Targeted metabolomics reveals the aberrant energy status in diabetic peripheral neuropathy and the neuroprotective mechanism of traditional chinese medicine JinMaiTong

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common and devastating complication of diabetes, for which effective therapies are currently lacking. Disturbed energy status plays a crucial role in DPN pathogenesis. However, the integrated profile of energy metabolism, especially the central carbohydrate metabolism, remains unclear in DPN. Here, we developed a metabolomics approach by targeting 56 metabolites using high-performance ion chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPIC-MS/MS) to illustrate the integrative characteristics of central carbohydrate metabolism in patients with DPN and streptozotocin-induced DPN rats. Furthermore, JinMaiTong (JMT), a traditional chinese medicine (TCM) formula, was found to be effective for DPN, improving the peripheral neurological function and alleviating the neuropathology of DPN rats even after demyelination and axonal degeneration. JMT ameliorated DPN by regulating the aberrant energy balance and mitochondrial functions, including excessive glycolysis restoration, tricarboxylic acid cycle improvement, and increased adenosine triphosphate (ATP) generation. Bioenergetic profile was aberrant in cultured rat Schwann cells under high-glucose conditions, which was remarkably corrected by JMT treatment. In-vivo and in-vitro studies revealed that these effects of JMT were mainly attributed to the activation of adenosine monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and downstream peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α). Our results expand the therapeutic framework for DPN and suggest the integrative modulation of energy metabolism using TCMs, such as JMT, as an effective strategy for its treatment.

Background Necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)is the most common severe gastrointestinal emergency in *** designed this study to identify the pathogenic microorganisms of NEC in the microbiota of the small intestine of *** Using the 16S ribosomal DNA(rDNA)sequencing method,we compared and analyzed the structure and diversity of microbiotas in the intestinal feces of different groups of neonates:patients undergoing jejunostomy to treat NEC(NP group),neonates undergoing jejunostomy to treat other conditions(NN group),and neonates with NEC undergoing conservative treatment(NC group).We took intestinal feces and saliva samples from patients at different time *** The beta diversities of the NP,NN,and NC groups were all *** comparing the beta diversities between different time points in the NP group,we found similar beta diversities at time points El to E3 but significant differences between the E2-E3 and E4 time points:the abundances of Klebsiella and Enterococcus(Proteobacteria)were higher at the E1-E3 time points;the abundance of Escherichia-Shigella(Proteobacteria)increased at the E2 time point,and the abundance of Klebsiella decreased significantly,whereas that of Streptococcus increased significantly at the E4 time *** Our results suggest that the pathological changes of intestinal necrosis in the small intestine of infants with NEC are not directly caused by excessive proliferation of pathogenic bacteria in the small *** sources of microbiota in the small intestine of neonates,especially in premature infants,may be affected by multiple factors.

The GECAM series of satellites utilizes LaBr_(3)(Ce),LaBr_(3)(Ce,Sr),and NaI(Tl)crystals as sensitive materials for gamma-ray detectors(GRDs).To investigate the nonlinearity in the detection of low-energy gamma rays and address the errors in the calibration of the E-C relationship,comprehensive tests and comparative studies of the three aforementioned crystals were conducted using Compton electrons,radioactive sources,and mono-energetic *** nonlinearity test results of the Compton electrons and X-rays demonstrated substantial differences,with all three crystals presenting a higher nonlinearity for X/-rays than for Compton *** the LaBr_(3)(Ce)and LaBr_(3)(Ce,Sr)crystals having higher absolute light yields,they exhibited a noticeable nonlinear decrease in the light yield,especially at energies below 400 *** NaI(Tl)crystal demonstrated an"excess"light output in the 6-200 keV range,reaching a maximum"excess"of 9.2%at 30 keV in the X-ray testing and up to 15.5%at 14 keV during Compton electron testing,indicating a significant advantage in the detection of low-energy gamma ***,we explored the underlying causes of the observed nonlinearity in these *** study not only elucidates the detector responses of GECAM,but also initiates a comprehensive investigation of the nonlinearity of domestically produced lanthanum bromide and sodium iodide crystals.

Chain Extender-induced Hydrogen Bonding Organization Determines the Morphology and Properties of Thermoplastic Polycarbonate Polyurethane

Thermoplastic polycarbonate polyurethanes(PCUs) are multiblock copolymers that have been applied for medical devices for long time. Aliphatic diols are common chain extenders(CE) involved in the composition of the hard segments of PCU. However, limited knowledge was discovered about how the chemical structure of CE affects the hydrogen bonding organization within PCUs and their mechanical *** investigate this problem, a group of PCUs were synthesized respectively by extending the polymer chain with 1,4-butanediol(BDO),aminoethanol(MEA), ethanediol(EO) as three kinds of chain extenders. Tiny differences in the CE chemical structure results in remarkable variations in phase separation, condensed morphologies, thermal and mechanical properties, which are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, atomic force microscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering, differential scanning calorimetry, and tensile tests. The microstructural evolution during unilateral deformation and the different mechanism induced by the different CEs was probed and unveil by in situ wide-and small-angle X-ray diffraction. Symmetry of CE can improve the organization of the hydrogen bonding. The coherence strength of the urethane/urea group also plays a key role by comparing the two PCUs with ethanediol and aminoethanol.
