wMolecular epidemiology studies diseases through investigating their molecular mechanisms involved in disease etiology and *** investigate molecular pathways,researchers are often required to collect biological specimens and to analyze molecular markers in their epidemiological ***,collecting right specimens and analyzing appropriate markers are always a *** example,if investigators study cancer risk by comparing patients and normal subjects,blood samples are the most feasible specimens available for molecular epidemiological research,but this type of specimen has limitations when studies address organ-specific diseases because it is not the target tissue and the molecular marker of interest may not be directly *** address the limitation of blood samples,one can use tissue samples,but studying tissue in epidemiology imposes a different set of challenges,one of which is the feasibility of tissue collection from healthy *** most tissue specimens from healthy individuals are inaccessible,studying disease etiology in molecular epidemiology is *** this limitation,tissue studies can help to address survival outcome,disease prognosis and treatment *** presentation will discuss different results of molecular epidemiology studies when using the same molecular marker in tumor tissues as compared to the circulation.
