Source apportionment and suitability evaluation of seasonal VOCs contaminants in the soil around a typical refining-chemical integration park in China

Accurate source apportionment of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in soil nearby petrochemical industries prevailing globally,is critical for preventing ***,in the process,seasonal effect on contamination pathways and accumulation of soil VOCs is often ***,Yanshan Refining-Chemical Integration Park,including a carpet,refining,synthetic rubber,and two synthetic resin zones,was selected for *** variations resulted in a gradual decrease of 31 VOCs in soil from winter to summer.A method of dry deposition resistance model coupling partitioning coefficient model was created,revealing that dry deposition by gas phase was the primary pathway for VOCs to enter soil in winter and spring,with 100 times higher fux than by particle *** profiles for five zones were built by gas sampling with distinct substance indicators screened,which were used for positive matrix factorization factors *** of the five zones were 14.9%,20.8%,13.6%,22.1%,and 28.6%in winter and 33.4%,12.5%,10.7%,24.9%,and 18.5%in spring,*** variation in the soil sorption capacity of VOCs causes inter-seasonal differences in *** better correlation between dry deposition capacity and soil storage of VOCs made root mean square and mean absolute errors decrease averagely by 8.8%and 5.5%in winter compared to *** study provides new perspectives and methods for the source apportionment of soil VOCs contamination in industrial sites.

In recent years,many cities have taken measures to reduce volatile organic compounds(VOCs),an important precursor of ozone(O_(3)),to alleviate O_(3) pollution in China.116 VOC species were measured by online and offline methods in the urban area of Jiaozuo from May to October in 2021 to analyze the compositional *** sources were analyzed by a positive matrix factorization(PMF)model,and the sensitivity of ozone generation was determined by ozone isopleth plotting research(OZIPR)*** results showed that the average volume concentration of total VOCs was 30.54 ppbv and showed a bimodal feature due to the rush-hour traffic in the morning and at *** most dominant VOC groups were oxygenated VOCs(OVOCs,29.3%)and alkanes(26.7%),and the most abundant VOC species were acetone and ***,based on the maximum incremental reactivity(MIR)method,the major VOC groups in terms of ozone formation potential(OFP)contribution were OVOCs(68.09μg/m^(3),31.5%),aromatics(62.90μg/m^(3),29.1%)and alkene/alkynes(54.90μg/m^(3),25.4%).This indicates that the control of OVOCs,aromatics and alkene/alkynes should take *** sources of VOCs were quantified by PMF,including fixed sources of fossil fuel combustion(27.8%),industrial processes(25.9%),vehicle exhaust(19.7%),natural and secondary formation(13.9%)and solvent usage(12.7%).The empirical kinetic modeling approach(EKMA)curve obtained by OZIPR on O_(3) exceedance days indicated that the O_(3) sensitivity varied in different *** results provide theoretical support for O_(3) pollution prevention and control in Jiaozuo.

The continuous increase of nitrate(NO_(3)^(-))level in rivers is a hot issue in the ***,the driving mechanism of high NO_(3)^(-)level in large rivers is still lacking,which has limited the use of river water and increased the cost of water *** this study,multiple isotopes and source resolution models are applied to identify the driving mechanism of high NO_(3)^(-)level and key processes of nitrogen cycling in the lower reaches of the Yellow River(LRYR).The major sources of NO_(3)^(-)were sewage and manure(SAM)in the low-flow season and soil nitrogen(SN)and chemical fertilizer(CF)in the high-flow *** was the most key process of nitrogen cycling in the ***,in the biological removal processes,denitrification may not occur *** temporal variation of contributions of NO_(3)^(-)sources were estimated by a source resolution model in the *** proportional contributions of SAM and CF to NO_(3)^(-)in the low-flow and high-flow season were 32.5%-52.3%,44.2%-46.2%and 36.0%-40.8%,54.9%-56.9%,*** driving mechanisms of high NO_(3)^(-)level were unreasonable sewage discharge,intensity rainfall runoff,nitrification and lack of nitrate removal *** control the NO_(3)^(-)concentration,targeted measures should be implemented to improve the capacity of sewage and wastewater treatment,increase the utilization efficiency of nitrogen fertilizer and construct ecological *** study deepens the understanding of the driving mechanism of high nitrate level and provides a vital reference for nitrogen pollution control in rivers to other area of the world.

Track-Before-Detect(TBD) is an efficient method to detect dim targets for radars. Conventional TBD usually follows an approximate motion model of the target, which may cause an inaccurate integration of the target energy. A TBD technique on basis of pseudo-spectrum in mixed coordinates adopting an accurate motion model for bistatic radar system is developed in this *** predicted position in bistatic polar plane is derived according to a nonlinear function that exactly describes the constant Cartesian velocity motion. Then around the predicted position, a pseudo-spectrum is formulated and its samples are accumulated to the integration frame for energy integration. The evolution of the state and the procedure of accumulation of the target energy are derived elaborately. The superior performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by some simulations.

Luan River is the main water source in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,northern China,where the groundwater system is vulnerable and pollution issue is *** is significant for regional groundwater resources protection to identify the hydrogeochemistry evolution and affecting factors along flow direction occurred in the upper reaches,especially the surface water-groundwater(SWGW)conversion *** this study,recharge,conversion and geochemistry evolution of SW and GW were elucidated based on physical-hydrochemical indicators and stable isotopes in 36 GW samples and 20 SW samples,which were collected in July 2019 and July *** factor analysis was further utilized to determine the main factors responsible for regional hydrogeochemical *** indicate that GW recharged SW in plateau area,and SW and GW recharged each other in typical Alpine valley *** hydrochemical types are HCO3-Ca·Mg and HCO3-Ca,and the hydrochemical evolution is dominated by weathering of silicate and carbonate *** cation exchange adsorption has minor impact on groundwater *** rise of SO42-and NO3-contents in groundwater is related to industrial and agricultural *** main controlling factors of SW hydrochemical components included recharge from groundwater,industrial and mining activities,explaining 90.04%of data ***,water-rock interaction,agricultural and domestic sewage are responsible for GW quality,accounting for 83.38%.

Accurate simulation of the evolution of freak waves by the wave phase focusing method requires accurate linear and nonlinear properties,especially in deep-water *** this paper,we analyze the ability to simulate deep-water focused waves of a two-layer Boussinesq-type(BT)model,which has been shown to have excellent linear and nonlinear *** further improve the numerical accuracy and stability,the internal wavegenerated method is introduced into the two-layer Boussinesq-type ***,the sensitivity of the numerical results to the grid resolution is analyzed to verify the convergence of the model;secondly,the focused wave propagating in two opposite directions is simulated to prove the symmetry of the numerical results and the feasibility of the internal wave-generated method;thirdly,the limiting focused wave condition is simulated to compare and analyze the wave surface and the horizontal velocity of the profile at the focusing position,which is in good agreement with the measured *** the simulation of focused waves in very deep waters agrees well with the measured values,which further demonstrates the capability of the two-layer BT model in simulating focused waves in deep waters.

The frequent detection of pharmaceutical compounds in the environment has led to a growing awareness,which may pose a major threat to the aquatic *** this study,photodegradation(direct and indirect photolysis)of two different dissociation states of fluoxetine(FLU)was investigated in water,mainly including the determination of photolytic transition states and products,and the mechanisms of indirect photodegradation with·OH,CO_(3)^(*-)and NO_(3)^(*).The main direct photolysis pathways are defluorination and C–C bond *** addition,the indirect photodegradation of FLU in water is mainly through the reactions with·OH and NO_(3)^(*),and the photodegradation reaction with CO_(3)^(*-)is relatively difficult to occur in the water *** results provide a theoretical basis for understanding the phototransformation process of FLU in the water environment and assessing its potential risk.

Aerosol liquid water content(ALWC)plays an important role in secondary aerosol *** this study,a whole year field campaign was conducted at Shanxi in north Zhejiang Province during *** estimated by ISORROPIA-Ⅱ was then investigated to explore its characteristics and relationship with secondary *** exhibited a highest value in spring(66.38μg/m^(3)),followed by winter(45.08μg/m^(3)),summer(41.64μg/m^(3)),and autumn(35.01μg/m^(3)),*** was supposed that the secondary inorganic aerosols(SIA)were facilitated under higher ALWC conditions(RH>80%),while the secondary organic species tended to form under lower ALWC *** RH(>80%)promoted the NO_(3)^(-)formation via gas-particle partitioning,while SO_(4)^(2-)was generated at a relative lower RH(>50%).The ALWC was more sensitive to NO_(3)^(-)(R=0.94)than SO_(4)^(2-)(R=0.90).Thus,the self-amplifying processes between the ALWC and SIA enhanced the particle mass *** sensitivity of ALWC and OX(NO_(2)+O_(3))to secondary organic carbon(SOC)varied in different seasons at Shanxi,more sensitive to aqueous-phase reactions(daytime R=0.84;nighttime R=0.54)than photochemical oxidation(daytime R=0.23;nighttime R=0.41)in wintertime with a high level of OX(daytime:130-140μg/m^(3);nighttime:100-140μg/m^(3)).The self-amplifying process of ALWC and SIA and the aqueous-phase formation of SOC will enhance aerosol formation,contributing to air pollution and reduction of visibility.

Photocatalytic water splitting using semiconductor photocatalysts is a promising approach for the production of carbon-neutral,sustainable and clean hydrogen ***,the separation and transport of photoinduced carriers are generally considered to be rate-limiting steps,and their low efficiency remains a major ***,much effort has been devoted to developing new strategies in surface/interface engineering of photocatalysts to improve the dynamics of charge separation/*** feature article briefly summarizes recent advances in photocatalyst surface/interface engineering by our research group,which have been achieved through the design of various novel photocatalysts,including interfacial modulation,heterostructure construction,heteroatom doping,single atom and diatom *** article is divided into three parts:first,we briefly introduce the three key processes involved in solar water splitting and reveal relationships between the properties of nanostructural photocatalysts and the fundamentals of water splitting;second,we detail methods and strategies for surface and interfacial structures to improve the efficiency of the fundamental processes,especially charge separation;finally,we explore prospects for photocatalytic water splitting *** article provides a valuable resource and strategies for researchers currently working in the field of photocatalytic water splitting.
