Making waste profitable: Efficient recovery of metallic iron from jarosite residues

To address the hazardous by-product of zinc smelting and resource utilization of jarosite residue,this study applies an electric field-assisted hot acid treatment to completely recycle iron(Fe).This innovative approach aims to enhance the leaching efficiency of Fe from jarosite *** introduction of an electric field changes the charge distribution on the surface of the particles to enhance ions and electrons exchange and promotes the collision between particles to strengthen reaction *** on the above,the leaching efficiency of Fe in jarosite under sulfuric acid attack has improved *** result shows that Fe leaching efficiency reaches 98.83%,which is increased by 28%under the optimal experimental conditions:current density of 30 mA·cm^(-2),H_(2)SO_(4) concentration of 1.5 mol·L^(-1),solid-liquid ratio of 70 g·L^(-1),temperature of 80℃ and time of 12 *** kinetics calculations show that the apparent activation energy is 16.97 kJ·mol^(-1) and the leaching of jarosite residue is controlled by a mixture of chemical reaction and diffusion,as well as the temperature and concentration of the leaching solution have an influence on *** work provides a feasible idea for the efficient leaching of Fe from jarosite residue.

Due to its properties of mutagenic,teratogenic,and carcinogenic,the detection of furazolidone(FZD)in aquaculture is of great importance for food safety and human *** this study,molecularly imprinted fi lms modifi ed with carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotube-phosphomolybdic acid composite were used to fabricate an electrochemical sensor for the determination of *** nanocomposites were characterized using infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,and X-ray diff *** electrochemical characteristics of the modifi ed electrodes were examined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,cyclic voltammetry,and diff erential pulse *** sensor exhibited exceptional catalytic *** calibration curves were acquired in the concentration range of 6 nmol·L^(−1)to 0.6μmol·L^(−1),with a limit of detection of 3.38 nmol·L^(−1).Additionally,the sensor proved successful in recognizing FZD in shrimp samples with satisfactory recoveries and *** method provides a strategy to construct a molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensing platform using nanomaterials,which has great promise in the field of food safety.

Multivariate relationships between microstructure evolution and strengthening mechanisms in laser powder bed fusion of Al-Mn-Sc alloy:towards improved fatigue performance

The effects of direct aging treatment(at 300°C for 5 hours)on selective laser melted(SLMed)Al-4.5Mn-1.5Mg-0.9Sc-0.2Zr alloy were investigated in this work,with the microstructure,fatigue behaviors,and fracture characteristics examined to determine the primary cause of fatigue crack *** results revealed that the microstructure of the investigated alloy comprised fine equiaxed and columnar *** aging treatment,a significant number of nano-scaled Al3(Sc,Zr)precipitates were dispersed within the grains,leading to a substantial increase in *** yield strength improved from 431 MPa to 568 MPa,representing an increase of more than 32%,while the fatigue strength improved from 180 MPa to 220 MPa after aging ***,the fracture toughness decreased significantly from 25.1 MPa·√m to 12.3 MPa·√*** results of the fatigue fracture characteristics indicate that the Mn-rich phase and the formation of defects such as pores and poor powder fusion are the sources of fatigue *** direct aging treatment can significantly increase the yield strength,decrease the rate of fatigue crack propagation,and thus improve the fatigue performance,it deteriorates the fracture toughness,and thus shortens the fatigue life of the alloy as well.

We evaluated the effect of isoquercetin(quercetin-O-3-glucoside-quercetin,IQ)as a functional component of Abeliophyllum disistichum Nakai ethanol extract(ADLE)on prostate cell proliferation and apoptosis and its effects on the IGF-1/PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Metabolites in ADLE were analyzed using UHPLC-qTOF-MS and *** was orally administered(1 or 10 mg/kg)to a testosterone propionate-induced BPH rat model,and its effects on the prostate weight were *** effect of IQ on androgen receptor(AR)signaling was analyzed in LNCaP *** IGF-1 and IQ affect the IGF-1/PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in BPH-1 cells was also *** metabolites in ADLE were identified and quantified,which confirmed that ADLE contained abundant IQ(20.88 mg/g).IQ significantly reduced the prostate size in a concentration-dependent manner in a BPH rat model,and significantly decreased the expression of AR signaling factors in the rat prostate tissue and LNCaP cells in a concentration-dependent *** also inhibited the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway activated by IGF-1 treatment in BPH-1 *** BPH-1 cells,IQ led to G0/G1 arrest and suppressed the expression of proliferation factors while inducing ***,IQ shows potential for use as a pharmaceutical and nutraceutical for BPH.

In recent years,sodium-ion capacitors have attracted attention due to their cost-effectiveness,high power density and similar manufacturing process to lithium-ion ***,the utilization of oxide electrodes in traditional sodium-ion capacitors restricts their further advancement due to the inherent low operating voltage and electrolyte consumption based on their energy storage *** address these challenges,we incorporated Zn,Cu,Ti,and other elements into Na_(0.67)Ni_(0.33)Mn_(0.67)O_(2) to synthesize P2-type Na_(0.7)Ni_(0.28)Mn_(0.6)Zn_(0.05)Cu_(0.02)Ti_(0.05)O_(2) with a modulated entropy and pillaring *** the synergistic interplay between the interlayer pillar and the entropy modulation within the layers,the material exhibits exceptional toughness,effectively shielding it from detrimental phase transitions at elevated voltage *** a result,the material showcases outstanding kinetic properties and long-term cycling stability across the voltage *** integrating these materials with hierarchical porous carbon nanospheres to form a"rocking chair"sodium-ion capacitor,the hybrid full device delivers a high energy density(171 Wh·kg^(-1))and high power density(5245 W·kg^(-1)),as well as outstanding cycling stability(77% capacity retention after 3000 cycles).This work provides an effective material development route to realize simultaneously high energy and power for next-generation sodium-ion capacitors.

Wearable electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding fabrics with excellent electromagnetic shielding performance,oxidation resistance,and structural stability are highly demanded for the rapid development of electronic devices and wireless *** are metallic conductive materials with exceptional EMI shielding properties,but they are prone to oxidation in air and have poor structural stability and durability on fabric ***,we present a one-step assembly method to fabricate fabrics coated with MXenes and polymeric sodium alginate(SA)composite(MXene-SA).SA protects MXenes from oxidation and forms a stable interlayer structure by bonding to *** MXene-SA coated fabrics are breathable and flexible,and have a low sheet resistance of 2.12±0.08Ω/sq and a high EMI shielding performance of 37.05 dB at X-band,which is comparable to the best 42.31 ***,the MXene-SA coated fabrics exhibit high structural stability and oxidation resistance under various conditions of sonication disintegration,mechanical abuse,chemical corrosion,and humidity,compared to pure MXenes coated *** believe that the wearable and high-performance MXene-SA fabrics have great potential for the next generation of ultra-portable and wearable EMI shielding products.

Multicolor emission from lanthanide ions doped lead-free Cs_(3)Sb_(2)Cl_(9) perovskite nanocrystals

The toxicity of lead ions has become the severe challenge for the all-inorganic lead halide p erovskite materials,although some works have rep orted the lead-free perovskite nanocrystals(NCs),the photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)of these materials is still ***,because the halogen ions can be easily exchanged,the controllable multicolor emission in perovskite NCs is difficult to realize in current *** this work,we introduced lanthanide ions into lead-free Cs_(3)Sb_(2)Cl_(9) perovskite *** from the energy transfer between Cs_(3)Sb_(2)Cl_(9) perovskite NC host and lanthanide ions,the multicolor emission was *** on controlling the doping concentration of Tb^(3+)and Eu^(3+)ions,the white light emission under UV excitation would be turned easily in the Tb^(3+)/Eu^(3+)codoped *** addition,efficient energy transfer from perovskite NCs to Tb^(3+)or Eu^(3+)ions is beneficial to improving the optical properties of lead-free perovskite NCs,resulting in maximum PLQYs of red,green and white light emission of 22.6%,19.7%and 28.5%,***,a white light emitting device(WLED)was fabricated with a power efficiency of 18.5 lm/W,which presents the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage(CIE)of(0.33,0.35).

Efficient extraction of electrode components from recycled lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and their highvalue applications are critical for the sustainable and ecofriendly utilization of *** work demonstrates a novel approach to stripping graphite anodes embedded with Li^(+)from spent LIBs directly in anhydrous ethanol which can be utilized as high efficiency cathodes for aluminum-ion batteries(AIBs).Recycled graphite(RG)with foam morphology and crystal structure defects was obtained under the action of ultrasonic peeling and gas generation reaction between residual lithium-graphite interlayer compound and *** inherent open structure of RG facilitates the intercalation/deintercalation of chloralum anions(AlCl_(4)^(-))and enhances its AIB cathode *** electrochemical measurements revea that the RG cathode has a specific capacity of 123 m Ah·g^(-1)at a current of 5 A·g^(-1),which is 1.55 times higher than tha of unprocessed natural graphite and 1.25 times higher than that of commercial artificial ***,the RG cathode demonstrated remarkable stability,retaining its high particular capacity of 138.15 mAh·g^(-1)even through2000 times at 10 A·g^(-1)in a low-cost electrolyte consisting of an ionic liquid/urea/AlCl_(3)*** work offers a novel approach to reusing of graphite anode waste materials from LIBs.

Strategies to advance thermoelectric performance of PbSe and PbS materials

Thermoelectric materials possess the unique capability to convert thermal energy into electric energy and vice versa,making them promising for waste heat recovery and efficient cooling ***,extensively investigated thermoelectric materials such as Bi2Te3,PbTe and GeTe exhibit superior thermoelectric properties at room temperature and medium temperature ***,the broad application of these thermoelectric materials has been impeded by the high cost and restricted accessibility of Te and Ge in the earth's *** the past few years,researchers have shown increasing interest in PbSe-and PbS-based materials,primarily attributed to their abundant elemental supply and relatively low *** assessment of research progress and a comprehensive overview of optimization strategies in time can significantly contribute to further improving the thermoelectric *** strategies include optimizing carrier concentration(aliovalent doping,dynamic doping and defect state),enhancing density-of-state effective mass(band convergence,band flattening and energy filtering effect),optimizing carrier mobility(band sharpening and band alignment)and reducing lattice thermal conductivity(all-scale hierarchical defect structures designing).This systematic summary and analysis provide novel insights and perspectives for the development of thermoelectric materials.
