Repetitive traumatic brain injury impacts adult neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus,leading to long-term cognitive ***,the mechanism underlying this neurogenesis impairment remains *** this study,we established a male mouse model of repetitive traumatic brain injury and performed long-term evaluation of neurogenesis of the hippocampal dentate gyrus after repetitive traumatic brain *** results showed that repetitive traumatic brain injury inhibited neural stem cell proliferation and development,delayed neuronal maturation,and reduced the complexity of neuronal dendrites and *** with repetitive traumatic brain injuryalso showed deficits in spatial memory ***,following repetitive traumatic brain injury,neuroinflammation was enhanced in the neurogenesis microenvironment where C1q levels were increased,C1q binding protein levels were decreased,and canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling was *** inhibitor of C1 reversed the long-term impairment of neurogenesis induced by repetitive traumatic brain injury and improved neurological *** findings suggest that repetitive traumatic brain injury–induced C1-related inflammation impairs long-term neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus and contributes to spatial memory retrieval dysfunction.

Omethoate-Induced Changes of (+)-δ-Cadinene Synthase Activity and Gossypol Content in Cotton Seedlings

The gene expression and activity of （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase during cotton development and in response to stress, as well as the spatial and temporal pattern of sesquiterpene biosynthesis, constitute one of chemical defense mechanisms in cotton plants. In order to explore the effects of omethoate on the cotton defense in relation to （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase and gossypol, effects of omethoate treatments on activity of （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase and gossypol content in cotton seedlings were investigated. Cotton seedlings treated with 400 mg L-1 omethoate exhibited a significant decrease in the specific activity of （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase from 12 to 120 h after treating when compared to the untreated control; significantly lower （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase activity was also observed in cotton seedlings treated with 200 mg L-1 omethoate from 72 to 120 h after treating; but for cotton seedlings treated with 100 mg L-1 omethoate, from 12 to 120 h after treating, no significant changes were observed for activity of （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase. The gossypol content in cotton seedlings treated with 100, 200 or 400 mg L-1 omethoate for different time periods showed no significant changes compared to that of the control. These results indicated that the activity of （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase in cotton seedlings in responses to exposure of omethoate at three concentrations for different time periods followed dose- and time-dependent responses to omethoate exposure. With omethoate as a chemical stress factor for cotton seedlings, the cotton defense in relation to the activity of （＋）-δ-cadinene synthase in cotton seedlings may be affected by omethoate application.

Invasion, expansion, and control of Bactrocera dorsalis(Hendel) in China

The Oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis(Hendel), is among the most destructive fruit/vegetable-eating agricultural pests in the world, particularly in Asian countries such as China. Because of its widespread distribution, invasive ability, pest status, and economic losses to fruit and vegetable crops, this insect species is viewed as an organism warranting severe quarantine restrictions by many countries in the world. To understand the characteristics and potential for expansion of this pest, this article assembled current knowledge on the occurrence and comprehensive control of the Oriental fruit fly in China concerning the following key aspects: invasion and expansion process, biological and ecological characteristics, dynamic monitoring, chemical ecology, function of symbionts, mechanism of insecticide resistance, control index, and comprehensive control and countermeasures. Some suggestions for the further control and study of this pest are also proposed.

Evaluation of the inheritance and dominance of behavioral resistance to imidacloprid in the house fly (Musca domestica L.) (Diptera: Muscidae)

The house fly,Musca domestica,is a cosmopolitan species known for its pestif-erous nature and potential to mechanically vector numerous human and animal *** of adult house flies often relies on insecticides formulated into food ***-ever,due to the overuse of these baits,insecticide resistance has developed to all insecti-cide classes currently registered for use in the United *** populations of house flies have developed resistance to imidacloprid,the most widely used neonicotinoid in-secticide for fly control,through both physiological and behavioral resistance *** the current study,we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the inheritance and dominance of behavioral resistance to imidacloprid in a lab-selected behaviorally re-sistant house fly ***,we conducted feeding preference assays to assess the feeding responses of genetic cross progeny to *** results confirmed that behavioral resistance to imidacloprid is inherited as a polygenic trait,though it is inherited differently between male and female *** also demonstrated that feeding preference assays can be instrumental in future genetic inheritance studies as they provide direct insight into the behavior of different strains under controlled conditions that reveal,interactions between the organism and the *** findings of this study carry significant implications for pest management and underscore the need for integrated pest control approaches that consider genetic and ecological factors contributing to resistance.

Situation analysis of cutaneous leishmaniasis in an endemic area,south of Iran

Objective: To update current situation of the cutaneous leishmaniasis(CL) in Kazerun County,southwest of Iran and to analyze the epidemiological aspects of the disease during 2005-2015,Methods: Data on CL were obtained from the Health Center of Kazerun County,and then were analyzed and mapped using SPSS and Arc GIS 10.3,Results: A total of 700 cases of CL were recorded during the study period with an overall decreasing trend from 2005 to 2015,More than 60% of the patients were inhabitants of rural areas and males were infected more than females,Although there was not a significant difference between gender,job categories,residence and CL infection(P>0.05),age groups were significantly different(P0.05),Most of the acute lesions were found to be present on the hand,leg and face,respectively,The average CL incidence in the study area was calculated as 24.9/100 000 population,A hot spot for the disease was found in southern part of the area(P<0.05),Conclusions: This study revealed that CL is present in Kazerun country,Thus,effective monitoring and sustained suveillance system is crucial in counteracting the disease,and if possible,to eliminate it.

The microbiota in spider mite feces potentially reflects intestinal bacterial communities in the host

Microorganisms prov ide many physiological functions to herbivorous *** mites(genus Tetranychus)are important agricultural pests throughout the world;however,the composition of the spider mite microbial community,especially gut micro-biome,remains ***,we investigated the bacterial community in five spider mite species and their associated feces by deep sequencing of the 16S rRNA *** composi-tion of the bacterial community was significantly different among the five prevalent spider mite species,and some bacterial symbionts showed host-species ***,the abundance of the bacterial community in spider mite feces was significantly higher than that in the corresponding spider mite ***,Flavobacterium was detected in all samples,and represent a"core microbiome".Remarkably,the maternally inherited endosymbiont Wolbachia was detected in both spider mite and ***,these results offer insight into the complex community of symbionts in spider mites,and give a new direction for future studies.

Antibiotic exposure perturbs the bacterial community in the small brown planthopper Laodelphax striatellus

Bacteria symbionts in herbivores play an important role in host biology and ecology,and are affected by environmental factors such as temperature,diet,habitat,antibiotics and so ***,the effects of antibiotics on the microbiome of the small brown planthopper Laodelphax striatellus(SBPH)remain ***,we studied the effects of tetracycline on the diversity and composition of bacterial colonies in different tissues of SBPH using high throughput sequencing of 16S ribosomal RNA *** results show that Proteobacteria,Firmicutes,Bacteroidetes,Actinobacteria were most abundant in SBPH,and the genera Asaia and Wolbachia were most abundant in all body parts of *** treatment had persistent effects on the composition of the SBPH *** depleted the population of Firmicutes,Bacteroidetes,Tenericutes and Fusobacteria,and nearly 100%eliminated Wolbachia,Bacteroides and Abiotrophia in ***,these results suggest that antibiotic exposure affects the bacteria symbionts of different body parts in SBPH and will facilitate future studies of the bacterial symbionts of arthropod hosts.

Rop plays conserved roles in the reproductive and digestive processes of spider mites

Ras opposite(Rop)is known to play an essential role in regulating vesicle trafficking,including synaptic transmission and general *** fundamental roles of Rop have been confirmed by the observation that null mutations in many organisms generate lethal phenotypes during ***,the effects of Rop during the postembryonic stages,especially in non-model organisms,remain largely ***,we provide new data that enhance our understanding of Rop's roles in the adults of multiple species of Tetranychus spider mites(Acari:Tetranychidae),a class of notorious agricultural *** in silico and experimental evidence demonstrated that Rop is under purifying selection and is highly conserved in Tetranychus *** interference experiments showed that Rop is required for maintaining normal fecundity but has no significant effect on *** further demonstrate that knockdown of Rop darkens the body color of spider mites and blocks the excretion of fecal pellets,which is likely to be related to an abnormality in the excretion of food waste in the digestive ***,our findings clarify novel functions of a vesicle trafficking-related gene in the adult stage of multiple Tetranychus species and highlight the need to evaluate the roles of essential genes in various organisms.

Relative contribution of genetic and environmental factors to determination of wing morphs of the brown planthopper Nilaparvatalugens

Wing dimorphism is a fascinating feature of the ability of insects to adapt to *** brown planthopper(BPH)Nilaparvata lugens,a serious pest of rice,can switch between the long-and short-winged *** has been known that environmental factors can affect the wing morph of ***,it is still unclear whether the effect of environment is dependent on BPH genetic backgrounds or *** the present study,we established the pure-bred lineages of short-and long-winged BPHs via multigenerational selection,and we found that survival and fecundity were similar between these 2 *** morphs of the pure-bred lineages were almost fully dependent on genetics,but independent of the environmental factors,nymphal density and rice plant stage,2 key factors affecting BPH wing *** the unselected BPH population,short-and longwinged morphs were produced depending on those 2 environmental factors,indicating the contribution of environment to wing *** the wing-selected lineages,4 developmental regulated genes of wing,NllnRI,NllnR2,NIAkt,and NIFoxo were expressed stably in the short-winged adults,but almost silenced in the long-winged ***,all these genes were expressed normally with a similar level in both the short-and long-winged adults in an unselected population except *** pure-bred lineages of long-and short-winged morphs exhibited different expression patterns of wing development-regulated genes,suggesting the genetic determination of wing *** of environmental factors on wing morphs occurred only in the genetic mix population.
