OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influence of spleen deficiency on the epithelial barrier of jejunum and lungs in a rat model of spleen-deficiency and the effect and potential specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) mechanism of chiropractic manipulation. METHODS: Three-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly into normal control group (n = 6), spleen-deficiency group (n = 5) and chiropractic group (n = 6). Spleen-deficiency model was induced in spleen-deficiency group and chiropractic group. Moreover, chiropractic manipulation was performed in chiropractic group. Four weeks later, systemic Th1/Th2 balance was evaluated by the ratio of plasma interferon (IFN)-γ/interleukin (IL)-4 levels by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Epithelial barrier integrity were assessed by the observation of morphological changes by hematoxylin-eosin staining and zonula occludens (ZO)-1 gene expressions by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction in jejunum and lungs. Plasma resolvin D1 (RvD1) and lipoxin A4 (LXA4) levels were measures by ELISA for endogenous SPMs production. The levels of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (AA) in jejunum and lungs were also measured by HPLC-MS/ MS. RESULTS: Comparing with normal control group, spleen-deficiency group showed disrupted mucosa in jejunum, inflammatory condition in lungs, significantly decreased ratio of plasma IFN-γ/IL-4 levels and lower expressions of ZO-1 mRNA in both jejunum and lung tissues. Comparing with spleen-deficiency group, chiropractic group had less disrupted mucosa in jejunum and inflammatory condition in lungs, significantly increased systemic ratio of IFN-γ/IL-4 and expressions of ZO-1 mRNA in both jejunum and lung tissues. Chiropractic group had significantly enhanced plasma levels of RvD1 and LXA4, but had no significantly higher levels of DHA and AA in jejunum and lungs when comparing with spleen-deficiency group. All college students in China, english majors and non-english majors, have to learn english. Both teachers and learners have tried hard to find a good and effective way to teach and learn english in order to achieve high proficiency of english. Recitation, the traditional Chinese teaching method has been well kept in teaching language, particularly in primary school. In this paper, the writer reviews the related language learning theories and the studies of recitation and attempts to explore the positive effect of recitation, which is based on the theory of ＂input hypothesis＂ and accords with the cognitive process of human mind. Through experiment, it is found that recitation is helpful to students＇ writing.

Objective: To investigate the influence of acupuncture at the points of Foot-Yangming Meridian on intracellular concentration of Ca2, called the 2nd messenger of gastric smooth muscles. Methods: 45 rabbits were randomly divided into the following 5 groups: a normal saline group, a model group treated with atropine, an acupuncture group treated by needling the points of Foot-Yangming Meridian, an acupuncture group treated by needling the points of Foot-Shaoyang Meridian, an acupuncture group treated by needling the points of Foot-Taiyang Meridian, i.e. 9 rabbits in each group. After treatment, the smooth muscles of the gastric antrum were taken to make the suspension containing alive single muscular cells, and the intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+]i) was determined by a spectrofluorometer. Results: The concentration of [Ca2+]i in the group of Foot-Yangming Meridian was obviously higher than that of the atropine group (P0.05). Conclusion: The influence of acupuncture at the points of Foot-Yangming Meridian on gastric movement is related to the release of intracellular Ca2+ in the gastric smooth muscles.

In this paper, we study the propagation of the pattern for a reaction-diffusionchemotaxis model. By using a weakly nonlinear analysis with multiple temporal and spatial scales, we establish the amplitude equations for the patterns, which show that a local perturbation at the constant steady state is spread over the whole domain in the form of a traveling wavefront. The simulations demonstrate that the amplitude equations capture the evolution of the exact patterns obtained by numerically solving the considered system.

The namesake channel point selection is a method adopted in acupuncture treatment, in which the points on the six pairs of channels on the upper and lower extremities with same names are selected and needled. Clinically, this method is mainly used for some acute soft tissue injuries, for instance, needling point Yangchi (TE 4) with reducing method for sprain of external malleolus, needling Qiuxu (GB 40) with reducing method for sprain of dorsal carpus, and needling Tiaokou (ST 38) for lateral shoulder pain. The therapeutic effect given by this point selection method is often superior to that given by the conventional needling method. In clinical practice, the author has found some typical cases, which respond well to this method, and reports them below.
