Modem technology and manufacturing methods often require engineers who understand the fundamental principles of vibration theory and who are also skilled in vibration applications. Simply processing, remembering and applying the material learned from lectures and laboratory experiments With artificial criteria are inadequate. Hands-on teaching techniques with real-world problems are needed to complete the engineering students＇ education. This paper demonstrates how hands-on experiments performed in industry support and increase the students＇ understanding of fundamental principles and skill in their applications. Graduates with both knowledge and skill are more competitive in today＇s job market. A one-quarter industry-based vibration course was developed and taught with a hands-on segment at the Manufacturing and Mechanical engineering and technology （MMET） program at Oregon Institute of technology （OIT） - Portland Campus. This novel instructional approach provided students with the opportunity to immediately apply material, learned in class and laboratory, in real-world industry situations with real-world problems. This instructional approach is applicable in many engineering fields and the author found the mechanical vibrations class particularly well suited for this instructional design style. The hands-on approach, grounded in the vibration course curriculum, provided a direct link to the fundamentals of vibration in industry. Student comments are included to demonstrate the value perceived by the students. Although this curriculum experiment involved mechanical engineering technology students, it would benefit mechanical engineering students equally well. In addition, the paper provides a brief description of the industries that participated in this project. Industries were selected because they use vibration based manufacturing, perform extreme testing or design their products to avoid failure due to vibrations.

Since the 1970's, frozen ground has been developing near the Tokyo Bay area around liquefied natural gas(LNG) inground storage tanks. For disaster prevention purposes, the tanks are constructed below the ground surface. Since the temperature of the liquid stored in the tanks is -162℃ the soil surrounding the tanks freezes. Since this frozen ground has existed for almost half a century, we have permafrost near Tokyo. The development of artificial frozen ground may cause frost heaving, resulting in frost heave forces that may cause structural damage of adjacent LNG in-ground storage ***, the demand for frozen ground engineering increased and consequently we now have advanced technology in this area. Fortunately, we use this engineering technology and artificial ground freezing for civil engineering, especially in big and crowded cities like Tokyo. This paper provides a summary of the testing apparatus, test methods, and assessment methods for frost heaving.

After development for decades, abroad remanufacturing has formed a complete industrial system. At present, the research emphases are on marking logistics management and market cultivation theory of remanufacturing products, and so on. The Chinese remanufacturing starts fairly late. After 10 years of development, it formed a remanufacturing mode with Chinese characteristics that is sustained by high-tech industries, using the surface engineering technology to restore the size and improve properties, and combining manufacturing, study and research together. The remanufacturing mode is not only circular but also economic. With the development of science and technology, future remanufacturing technology will break the previous limits, explore and understand the limits of micro machining. It will carry out the waste product remanufacturing in the micro-nano scale, and extend the remanufacturing industry to a more broad space.

The anti-polar solvent technique is an effec- tive way to improve the film quality in a perovskite solar cell. In this work, we reveal the reason why chloroben- zene （CBZ） plays an important role in controlling the crystallization process. By investigating the formation of intermediate phases in the precursor solution, we observed that the CH3NH3I （MAI）-PbI2-dimethylformamide （DMF） or MAI-PbI2-dimethylsulphoxide （DMSO） adducts have not yet formed until washed with non-polar solvent. The accelerated formation of intermediate phase yields high crystalline perovskite layers. Rapid solvent evaporation and retarded perovskite crystallization in one-step method are efficient to obtain high-quality perovskite films. Conse- quently, MAI-PbI2-DMSO intermediate shows neat rod-like structure with high crystallinity, which eventually transforms extremely dense and uniform perovskite films.
