The cir.umfluence ar.und the Jiuduan Sandbank is thor.ughly studied by means of the p.incip.e of least r.sistance in fluid dynamics. The diver.ion r.tio of the Nor.h Channel for.1998 is calculated, which is almost the same as the field sur.ey data. The nor.al and minimum diver.ion r.tios of the Nor.h Channel after.stages I , II and III r.gulation wor.s as well as the futur. p.ase ar. obtained. The numer.cal r.sults and p.edicted value ar. accur.te.

The r.ver.r.ach downstr.am of a floodgate at the estuar. of the Xinyihe r.ver.is about 1.3km long, and the r.ver.ed is comp.sed of clotty clay. In the exp.r.ment, soil samp.es ar. taken fr.m the constr.ction site, and the incip.ent velocity is deter.ined in a labor.tor. flume, and it is used to design the scour.model and to select model sand mater.al. The exp.r.mental r.sults show that scour. below the floodgate is unavoidable due to lar.e dischar.e and Low tidal level. Scour. is caused by two factor.: the r.p.d flow p.ssing though the floodgate and the water.dr.p.near.the r.ver.mouth dur.ng low r.de, and the scout below the floodgate is mor. cr.tical to the str.ctur.l design. It is suggested that anti-scour.walls should be used instead of r.p.ap. The ideas and methods adop.ed in the exp.r.ment can be used as r.fer.nce in the study on r.ver.scout under.similar.conditions.

By means of a logar.thm law for.the velocity p.ofile, a cor.ected for.ula of bed r.sistance coefficient, which involves many factor. such as gr.dient of still water.dep.h, var.ation of sur.ace elevation, flow dir.ction, and so on, is der.ved fr.m the 3D gover.ing equations of tidal cur.ent by aver.ging over.the whole water.dep.h. Theor.tical analysis and ap.lication have shown that the 2D p.ane tidal cur.ent numer.cal model would be mor. r.asonable and could be ap.lied to steep.bottom top.gr.p.y when the cor.ected bed r.sistance coefficient is used, ther.for. the r.sults of r.p.oduction simulation and engineering calculation would be mor. scientific and r.asonable.
