BACKGROUND: Migraine is a common neurological condition that frequently presents to the emergency department(ED). Many medications are available to treat migraine. This study aims to characterize the demographics of patients who present to a large metropolitan ED with migraine, and to identify the medications used in treating this ***: This study is a retrospective database interrogation of clinical records, used to collect quantitative data on patient demographics and medication prescriptions in the ***: A total of 2 228 patients were identified as being treated for migraine over a 10-year period. The proportion of the ED population presenting with migraine steadily increased in this time. Females(71%) more commonly presented to the ED with migraine than males. The migraine population was signifi cantly younger(M=37.05, SD=13.23) than the whole ED population(M=46.17 SD=20.50)(P<0.001). A variety of medications were used in the treatment of migraine in the ED. Simple analgesics such as paracetamol and ibuprofen, anti-emetics and intravenous(IV) fluids with phenothiazine additives were commonly used. Over 20% of patients were prescribed oral or parenteral opiates(42 of 194 initial medication prescriptions, and 64 of 292 as required medication prescriptions). Triptans were very rarely ***: Migraine is an increasingly common presentation to the ED. People presenting to the ED with migraine are more likely to be younger and female than the general ED population. Peak presentations for migraines occurred in January and February. The medications that are prescribed in the ED for migraine is varied and are not always in line with current evidence for the treatment of migraine. The excessive reliance on opiates and lack of the use of triptans denotes a signifi cant variation from published guidelines.

Non celiac gluten sensitivity(NCGS) is a syndrome characterized by a cohort of symptoms related to the ingestion of gluten-containing food in subjects who are not affected by celiac disease(CD) or wheat allergy. The possibility of systemic manifestations in this condition has been suggested by some reports. In most cases they are characterized by vague symptoms such as ‘foggy mind', headache, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, leg or arm numbness even if more specific complaints have been described. NCGS has an immune-related background. Indeed there is a strong evidence that a selective activation of innate immunity may be the trigger for NCGS inflammatory response. The most commonly autoimmune disorders associated to NCGS are Hashimoto thyroiditis, dermatitis herpetiformis, psoriasis and rheumatologic diseases. The predominance of Hashimoto thyroiditis represents an interesting finding, since it has been indirectly confirmed by an Italian study, showing that autoimmune thyroid disease is a risk factor for the evolution towards NCGS in a group of patients with minimal duodenal inflammation. On these bases, an autoimmune stigma in NCGS is strongly supported; it could be a characteristic feature that could help the diagnosis and be simultaneously managed. A possible neurological involvement has been underlined by NCGS association with gluten ataxia, gluten neuropathy and gluten encephalopathy. NCGS patients may show even psychiatric diseases such as depression, anxiety and psychosis. Finally, a link with functional disorders(irritable bowel syndrome and fibromyalgia) is a topic under discussion. In conclusion, the novelty of this matter has generated an expansion of literature data with the unavoidable consequence that some reports are often based on low levels of evidence. Therefore, only studies performed on large samples with the inclusion of control groups will be able to clearly establish whether the large information from the literature regarding extra-intestinal

Objective Our study aims to present a summary of the clinicopathological characteristics of patients affected by the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)that can be used as a reference for further research and clinical *** Studies were included in the meta-analysis if they had cohort,case-control or case series designs and provided sufficient details on clinical symptoms,laboratory outcomes and asymptomatic *** PubMed,Embase,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Wanfang,China Science and Technology Journal Database and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were electronically searched to identify related studies published between 1 January 2020 and 16 March *** reviewers independently examined the literature,extracted relevant data and assessed the risk of publication bias before including the studies in the *** The confirmed cases of *** A total of 55 unique retrospective studies involving 8697 patients with COVID-19 were ***-analysis showed that a higher proportion of infected patients were male(53.3%),and the two major symptoms observed were fever(78.4%)and cough(58.3%).Other common symptoms included fatigue(34%),myalgia(21.9%),expectoration(23.7%),anorexia(22.9%),chest tightness(22.9%)and dyspnoea(20.6%).Minor symptoms included nausea and vomiting(6.6%),diarrhoea(8.2%),headache(11.3%),pharyngalgia(11.6%),shivering(15.2%)and rhinorrhea(7.3%).About 5.4%of the patients were *** patients showed normal leucocyte counts(64.7%)and elevated C reactive protein levels(65.9%).Lymphopaenia was observed in about 47.6%of the infected patients,along with abnormal levels of myocardial enzymes(49.4%)and liver function(26.4%).Other findings included leucopenia(23.5%),elevated D-dimer(20.4%),elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate(20.4%),leucocytosis(9.9%),elevated procalcitonin(16.7%)and abnormal renal function(10.9%).Conclusions The most commonly experienced symptoms of pati
