Application of navigation template to fixation of sacral fracture using three-dimensional reconstruction and reverse engineering technique

Objective： To provide a new method in the fixation of sacral fracture by means of three-dimensional reconstruction and reverse engineering technique. Methods： Pelvis image data were obtained from threedimensional CT scan in patients with sacral fracture. The data were transferred into a computer workstation. The threedimensional models of pelvis were reconstructed using Amira 3.1 software and saved in STL format. Then the threedimensional fracture models were imported into Imageware 9.0 software. Different situations of reduction （total reduction, half reduction and non-reduction） were simulated using Imageware 9.0 software. The best direction and location of extract iliosacral lag screws were defined using reverse engineering according to these three situations and navigation templates were designed according to the anatomic features of the postero-iliac part and the channel. The exact navigational template was made by rapid prototyping. Drill guides were sterilized and used intraoperatively to assist in surgical navigation and the placement of iliosacral lag screws. Results： Accurate screw placement was confirmed with postoperative X-ray and CT scanning. The navigation template was found to be highly accurate. Conclusion： The navigation template may be a useful method in minimal-invasive fixation of sacroiliac joint fracture.

Systematic evaluation on curative effects of traditional Chinese medicine retention enemas for patients with radiation proctitis

Objectives： To systematically evaluate the curative effects of traditional Chinese medicine retention enemas for patients with radiation proctitis. Methods： Reports on randomized controlled trials （RCTs） on traditional Chinese medicine retention enemas in the treatment of radiation proctitis were searched in the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, EBSCO, ISI, CNKI, V1P, WanFang Data and CBM databases. The publication dates were from inception to May 2014, and a literature screening, data extraction, quality evaluation and cross checks were inde- pendently conducted by two reviewers in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A meta- analysis was then carried out using RevMan 5.3 software. Remits： In total, 14 RCTs were included, and of these, only 10 RCTs involving 702 patients were included in the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis showed that the total efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine retention enemas was higher for patients with radiation proctitis compared with that in control group, RR - 4.83, 95% C1 （2.98, 7.84）, P 〈 0.000 01 ; the results from four studies indicated that the improvement of clinical symptoms due to traditional Chinese medicine retention enemas was higher than that of the control group. Conclusions： The implementation of traditional Chinese medicine retention enemas could improve the total efficacy of treatment and provide relief in patients with radiation proctitis.

An emerging definition of the fractal-fractional operator has been used in this study for the modeling of Casson fluid *** magnetohydrodynamics flow of Casson fluid has cogent in a channel where the motion of the upper plate generates the flow while the lower plate is at a static *** proposed model is non-dimensionalized using the Pi-Buckingham theorem to reduce the complexity in solving the model and computation *** non-dimensional fractal-fractional model with the power-law kernel has been solved through the Laplace transform *** Mathcad software has been used for illustration of the influence of various parameters,i.e.,Hartman number,fractal,fractional,and Casson fluid parameters on the velocity of fluid *** graphs and tables,the results have been implemented and it is shown that the boundary conditions are fully *** results reveal that the flow velocity is decreasing with the increasing values of the Hartman number and is increasing with the increasing values of the Casson fluid *** findings of the fractal-fractional model have elucidated that the memory effect of the flow model has higher quality than the simple fractional and classical ***,to show the validity of the obtained closed-form solutions,special cases have been obtained which are in agreement with the already published solutions.

In order to find out the dynamic characteristics of a steel frame structure project in the 8 degree (0.3g) area, the artificial wave, Taft wave and El Centro wave were input by using the finite element analysis software ANSYS. The dynamic time-history analysis of the structure shows the dynamic performance of the structure under the frequent earthquakes and rare earthquakes.

Investigation of Anxiety, Depression, Stress and Related Factors in the Primary Caregivers of Inpatients with Cancer

Objectives To explore the anxiety,depression,stress and related factors in the primary caregivers of inpatients with *** A total of 235 selected caregivers of inpatients with cancer were included as the research subjects,and the Depression-Anxiety-Stress Self-Rating Scale 21(DASS-21)was used to evaluate their depression,anxiety and *** data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 25.0 *** The study showed that the caregivers of cancer patients had different levels of depression,anxiety and stress,but all rates were above the normal range,with 51.7%,56.0%and 34.9%of subjects respectively reporting these *** addition,the above indicators were correlated with the caregivers’gender,age,relationship with the cancer patients,the family’s economic status,religious belief and duration of caregiving:being female(T-Statistic=-2.061,P=0.040)and having a low income(F=2.627,P=0.035)were positively correlated with the caregivers’stress *** a low income(F=2.804,P=0.027)was also positively correlated with the depression *** the caregivers were the patient's parents,they had higher levels of anxiety(F=2.429,P=0.036)than caregivers in other *** results of a linear correlation analysis showed that the depression of caregivers was negatively correlated with the family’s economic status(r value=-0.244,P<0.01)and positively correlated with the duration of caregiving(r=0.138,P<0.05).The anxiety score was positively correlated with the caregivers’age(r=0.141,P<0.05)and duration of caregiving(R=0.132,P<0.05),but negatively correlated with the family’s economic status(r=-0.187,P<0.01).The stress level was positively correlated with the caregivers’gender(r=0.137,P<0.05),age(r=0.210,P<0.01),duration of caregiving(r=0.171,P<0.01)and current job status(r=0.165,P<0.05),but negatively correlated with the family’s economic status(r=-0.202,P<0.01).The results of a multiple stepwise regression showed that age and religious belief

Comparative Analysis of the Lateritic Soil of Brasília and Soil Mixed with Vermiculite for Urban Cavities

Civil construction has high demand for new procedures and technologies capable of generating better results in numerous situations throughout the ***,cavities in urban areas are commonly used due to the implantation of commercial and residential developments with more than two floors,seeking a better use of the nobler areas of the big *** geotechnical terms,the filling of these cavities,with the local soil,especially in the Federal District,lateritic soils,can represent additional efforts for the structures and foundations and lead to a compromise of the technical and functional performance of the same,compromising the efficiency and the economy of the *** this sense,this research evaluates the mechanical behavior of the mixtures,using GEO5 software,Containment Design and Verification Modules,presenting an alternative to fill cavities in urban regions,with a mixture of material with lower specific density in relation to the soil *** Normal compression tests,simple direct shear saturation and sample expansibility were *** results showed a reduction of 38%in the strength of the reinforced concrete curtain,as well as a 25%reduction in maximum bending moments and 31%in maximum shear forces,and a reduction of about 32%in the displacements of the structure to the soil with addition of expanded vermiculite for tests obtained in the saturated *** the compositions of cement soil,expanded vermiculite soil and soil cement and expanded vermiculite,the deformations were of the order of 0.3%,0.4%and 0.2%,respectively.

Spatial Accuracy of a Low Cost High Resolution 3D Surface Imaging Device for Medical Applications

The Kinect is a low-cost motion-sensing device designed for Microsoft’s Xbox 360. software has been created that enables user to access data from the Kinect, enhancing its versatility. This study characterizes the spatial accuracy and precision of the Kinect for creating 3D images for use in medical applications. Measurements of distances between surface features on both flat and curved objects were made using 3D images created by the Kinect. These measurements were compared to control measurements made by a ruler, calipers or by a CT scan and using the ruler tools provided. Measurements on flat surfaces matched closely to control measurements, with average differences between the Kinect and control measurements of less than 2 mm and percent errors of less than 1%. Measurements on curved surfaces also matched control measurements but errors up to 3mm occurred when measuring protruding surface features or features along lateral boundaries of objects. The Kinect is an alternative to other 3D imaging devices such as CT scanners, laser scanners and photogrammetric devices. Alternative 3D meshing algorithms and combining images from multiple Kinects could resolve errors made when using the Kinect to measure features on curved surfaces. Medical applications include craniofacial anthropometry, radiotherapy patient positioning and surgical planning.

Optimization of the Aqueous Decoction Process of Combretum micranthum Leaves

This work proposes to compare the extraction of total polyphenols and the coloring obtained after several series of decoction at 100°C/20min, of whole or crushed leaves of Combretum micranthum. The total phenolic content of the extracts obtained after decoction was determined by Folin’s method. The color parameters were measured using a colorimeter based on the CIELAB system. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) shows significant differences (p 0.05) on different parameters evaluated. The Minitab 19 software was used to classify the extracts according to the color parameters (L, A, and B). The results showed that the maximum of polyphenols (21.67%) was extracted in the crushed leaves after three series of decoctions while with the whole leaves the maximum of 16.17% is obtained after six series of decoctions. The concentration of total polyphenols becomes low from four series of decoctions with 0.146 g·AG·100 g-1 MS. The red and yellow coloring drops respectively by 85 and 69% with crushed leaves and 64 and 21% with whole leaves. The conductivity and the brix of the extracts fall according to the series of decoctions. These results show that for optimal use of C. micranthum leaves in traditional medicine, crushed leaves and three series of decoctions are indicated and sufficient.

Colorectal cancer screening use among insured adults: Is out-of-pocket cost a barrier to routine screening?

AIM To describe the characteristics of adults who needed to see a doctor in the past year but could not due to the extra cost and assess the impact of limited financial resources on the receipt of routine fecal occult blood test, sigmoidoscopy, or colonoscopy for colon cancer screening among insured patients. METHODS Data obtained from the 2012 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System included 215436 insured adults age 50-75 years. We computed frequencies, adjusted odds ratios(a ORs), and 95%CIs using SAS v9.3 software. RESULTS Nine percent of the study population needed to see a doctor in the past year but could not because of cost. The numbers were significantly higher among those aged 50-64(P < 0.0001), Non-Hispanic Whites(P < 0.0001), and those with a primary care physician(P < 0.0001) among other factors. Adjusting for possible confounders, a ORs for not seeing the doctor in the past year because of cost were: stool occult blood test within last year a OR = 0.88; 95%CI: 0.76-1.02, sigmoidoscopy within last year a OR = 0.72; 95%CI: 0.48-1.07, colonoscopy within the last year a OR = 0.91; 95%CI: 0.81-1.02. CONCLUSION We found that the limited financial resources within the past 12 mo were significantly associated with colorectal cancer(CRC) non-screening. Patients with risk factors identified in this study should adhere to CRC guidelines and should receive financial help if needed.
