A texture-modified dessert with high nutritional value designed for people with dysphagia:effect of refrigeration and frozen storage

The potential for an old-growth forest to store carbon in the topsoil:A case study at sasso Fratino,Italy

There is considerable interest devoted to oldgrowth forests and their capacity to store carbon(c)in biomass and *** of c stocks in old-growth forests are carried out worldwide,although there is a lack of information on their actual potential for c *** further understand this,soil organic carbon(sOc)was measured in one of Italy's best-preserved old-growth forests,the sasso Fratino Integral Nature *** reserve is on the World Heritage List along with other ancient beech forests of Europe,and it is virtually untouched due to the steepness of the terrain,even before legal constraints were *** the sandstone-derived soils are often shallow,they are rich in organic ***,no quantification had been carried *** systematically sampling the topsoil across the forest,we accurately determined the average amount of sOc(62.0±16.9 Mg ha^(–1))and nitrogen(4.0±1.2 Mg ha^(–1))in the top 20 *** the cENTURY model,future dynamics of sOc stocks were predicted to 2050 according to two climate scenarios,A1F1 and B2,the first of high concern and the second more *** model projected an increase of 0.2 and 0.3 Mg ha^(–1)a^(–1)by 2030 under the A1F1 and B2 scenarios,respectively,suggesting that the topsoil in old-growth forests does not reach equilibrium but continues accumulating ***,from 2030 to 2050,a decline in sOc accumulation is predicted,indicating sOc net loss at high altitudes under the worst-case *** study confirms that soils in oldgrowth forests play a significant role in carbon *** also suggests that climate change may affect the potential of these forests to store sOc not only in the long term but also in the coming years.

The simulation by the Monte carlo method executed by the software pypENELOpE proved effective to specify the particle propagation characteristics by calculating the absorption fractions, backscattering and transmission of electrons and secondary photons under the incidence of 0.5 to 20 KeV range of primary electrons. More than 99.9% of the primary electrons were transmitted in the 125 nm thick MgO/TiOsub>2sub> material at 20 KeV. This occurred because several interactions took place in the transmitted primary irradiation such as characteristic, fluorescence, and bremsstrahlung produced when of the occupation of the KL3, KL2, KM3, and KM2 shell and sub-shell of titanium and magnesium which are the elements with a high atomic number in the material. The transmission particle characteristic of this material is therefore an indicator capable of improving the electrical performance and properties of the sensor.

In-situ UV-Vis spectroscopy of Trisulfur Radicals in Lithium-sulfur Batteries

Here we employ in-situ UV-Vis spectroscopy to monitor the sulfur redox reaction with oxygen-containing molecules as an additive,for example,biphenyl-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid(BDc).Furthermore,Raman spectrum,electron paramagnetic resonance(EpR),and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry(EsI-Ms)measurements reveal that the formation of BDc-s_(3)•^(‒)complexes can establish the long-term stability of polysulfide radicals,change the kinetics of sulfur redox reaction,and then generate decent capacity retention and rate *** to the density functional theory(DFT)analysis,s_(3)•^(‒)radicals are the underlying product of s_(6)^(2‒)cleavage,owing to the decreased chemical energy and the increased stability of s_(3)•^(‒)radicals through Lewis acid-base *** assembled Li-s batteries with BDc additive deliver a high reversible capacity of 420 mA·h·g^(−1)over 200 cycles with over 98%coulombic efficiency,under the current density of 0.2 c.

The impedance matching of absorbers is a vital factor affecting their microwave absorption(MA)*** this work,we controllably synthesized Material of Institute Lavoisier 88c(MIL-88c)with varying aspect ratios(AR)as a precursor by regulating oil bath conditions,followed by one-step thermal decomposition to obtain carbon-coated iron-based *** the precursor MIL-88c(Fe)preparation conditions,such as the molar ratio between metal ions and organic ligands(M/O),oil bath temperature,and oil bath time,influenced the phases,graphitization degree,and AR of the derivatives,enabling low filler loading,achieving well-matched impedance,and ensuring outstanding MA *** MOF-derivatives 2(MD_(2))/polyvinylidene Difluoride(pVDF),MD_(3)/pVDF,and MD4/pVDF absorbers all exhibited excellent MA properties with optimal filler loadings below 20 wt%and as low as 5 wt%.The MD_(2)/pVDF(5 wt%)achieved a maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 5.52 GHz(1.90 mm).The MD_(3)/pVDF(10 wt%)possessed a minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))value of−67.4 at 12.56 GHz(2.13 mm).A symmetric gradient honeycomb structure(sGHs)was constructed utilizing the high-frequency structure simulator(HFss)to further extend the EAB,achieving an EAB of 14.6 GHz and a RL_(min) of−59.0 *** research offers a viable inspiration to creating structures or materials with high-efficiency MA properties.

chemical Activation of s/Li2s in Li-s Batteries by a Bidirectional Organic Redox Mediator

The energy density and lifespan of prototype Li-s batteries under high sulfur loading and lean electrolyte have been mainly restricted by the incomplete interconversion between insulating s8 and *** introduction of an electrocatalyst has been preserved as an effective way to breakthrough the bottleneck of the interconversion ***,we demonstrate a novel bidirectional redox mediator,insoluble dithiobisphthalimide(DTpI),as the electrocatalyst for both s8 reduction and Li2s *** to the dual-functional role of both electron/Li^(+)donor and acceptor,DTpI can efficiently accelerate the redox reactions during charge/discharge and significantly alleviate the incomplete conversion of sulfur ***,the Li-s batteries with DTpI deliver superior specific capacity and cycling stability in comparison with those without ***,the redox mediator is scalable for synthesis and the DTpI-based 5 A·h pouch cell delivers a specific discharge capacity of around 870 mA·h·g^(−1) at 0.1 c(1 c=1675 mA/g)without capacity fading over 80 *** bidirectional catalysis mechanism has been studied through theoretical calculation and ex-situ characterization of the cathode *** work approves the effectiveness of bidirectional organic redox mediator in the construction of practical Li-s batteries.

Traveling wave solutions in a nonlocal dispersal sIR epidemic model with nonlocal time-delay and general nonlinear incidences

This paper investigates a nonlocal dispersal epidemic model under the multiple nonlocal distributed delays and nonlinear incidence ***,the minimal wave speed c*and the basic reproduction number Ro are defined,which determine the existence of traveling wave ***,with the help of the upper and lower solutions,schauder's fixed point theorem,and limiting techniques,the traveling waves satisfying some asymptotic boundary conditions are ***,when Ro>1,for every speed c>c^(*) there exists a traveling wave solution satisfying the boundary conditions,and there is no such traveling wave solution for any 0cc^(*) when R_(0)>1 or c>0 when R_(0)cts of nonlocal time delay on the minimum wave speed.
