In this paper, we present an approach to improve the accuracy of environmental sound event detection in a wireless acoustic sensor network for home monitoring. Wireless acoustic sensor nodes can capture sounds in the home and simultaneously deliver them to a sink node for sound event detection. The proposed approach is mainly composed of three modules, including signal estimation, reliable sensor channel selection, and sound event detection. During signal estimation, lost packets are recovered to improve the signal quality. Next, reliable channels are selected using a multi-channel cross-correlation coefficient to improve the computational efficiency for distant sound event detection without sacrificing performance. Finally, the signals of the selected two channels are used for environmental sound event detection based on bidirectional gated recurrent neural networks using two-channel audio features. Experiments show that the proposed approach achieves superior performances compared to the baseline.

Operational software systems often experience an “aging” phenomenon, characterized by progressive performance degradation and a sudden hang/crash failure. Software rejuvenation is a proactive fault-tolerance strategy aimed to prevent unexpected outages due to aging. A new rejuvenation strategy based on measurement and time, and constructs a SRN model to evaluate this strategy. Numerical results show that this strategy outweighs either the purely measurementbased or the purely time-based strategy and can effectively improve system performance.

A new faster block-matching algorithm （BMA） by using both search candidate and pixd sulzsamplings is proposed. Firstly a pixd-subsampling approach used in adjustable partial distortion search （APDS） is adjusted to visit about half points of all search candidates by subsampling them, using a spiral-scanning path with one skip. Two sdected candidates that have minimal and second minimal block distortion measures are obtained. Then a fine-tune step is taken around them to find the best one. Some analyses are given to approve the rationality of the approach of this paper. Experimental results show that, as compared to APDS, the proposed algorithm can enhance the block-matching speed by about 30% while maintaining its MSE performance very close to that of it. And it performs much better than many other BMAs such as TSS, NTSS, UCDBS and NPDS.

The contradiction between the sensitivity and the frequency domain searching speed of GPS signal acquisition circuit has been discussed for a long time. The signal integration operation which enhances the sensitivity of the system also makes the frequency slots narrower, which affects the speed of the system. In this research a high sensitivity GPS signal acquisition circuit is implemented with a new frequency domain search strategy. The new strategy combines DDS sweep strategy with cyclic shifting sweep strategy which makes the TTFF (time to first fix) reduced evidently. The extra hardware resource cost of the new strategy is acceptable. The speed advantage of the new frequency domain search strategy has been verified by hardware comparison tests.

The most important problem in targets tracking is data association which may be represented as a sort of constraint combinational optimization problem. Chaos optimization and adaptive genetic algorithm were used to deal with the problem of multi-targets data association separately. Based on the analysis of the limitation of chaos optimization and genetic algorithm, a new chaos genetic optimization combination algorithm was presented. This new algorithm first applied the "rough" search of chaos optimization to initialize the population of GA, then optimized the population by real-coded adaptive GA. In this way, GA can not only jump out of the "trap" of local optimal results easily but also increase the rate of convergence. And the new method can also avoid the complexity and time-consumed limitation of conventional way. The simulation results show that the combination algorithm can obtain higher correct association percent and the effect of association is obviously superior to chaos optimization or genetic algorithm separately. This method has better convergence property as well as time property than the conventional ones.

When particle filter is applied in radar target tracking, the accuracy of the initial particles greatly effects the results of filtering. For acquiring more accurate initial particles, a new method called “competition strategy algorithm” is presented. In this method, initial measurements give birth to several particle groups around them, regularly. Each of the groups is tested several times, separately, in the beginning periods, and the group that has the most number of efficient particles is selected as the initial particles. For this method, sample initial particles selected are on the basis of several measurements instead of only one first measurement, which surely improves the accuracy of initial particles. The method sacrifices initialization time and computation cost for accuracy of initial particles. Results of simulation show that it greatly improves the accuracy of initial particles, which makes the effect of filtering much better.

Speckle filtering is an indispensable pre-processing step for applications of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar （POLSAR）, such as terrain classification, target detection, etc. As one of the most typical methods, the polarimetric whitening filter （PWF） can be used to produce a minimum-speckle image by combining the complex elements of the scattering matrix, but polarimetric information is lost after the filtering process. A polarimetric filter based on subspaze decomposition which was proposed by Cu et al specializes in retrieving principle scattering characteristics, but the corresponding mean value of an image after filtering is not kept well. A new filter is proposed for improving the disadvantage based on subspace decomposition. Under the constraint that a weighted combination of the polarimetric SAR images equals to the output of the PWF, the Euclidean distance between an unfiltered parameter vector and a signal space vector is minimized so that noises can be reduced. It is also shown that the proposed method is equivalent to the subspace filter in the case of no constraint. Experimental results with the NASA/JPL airborne polarimetric SAR data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

To mitigate the effects of the previous symbol decision errors of a decision-feedback （DF） equalizer on the current decision, a particle filter （PF） based DF equalizer for frequency selective multiple-input-multiple-output （MIMO） channel is proposed. On the basis of the analyses of DF equalization for the MIMO wireless system, it is found that a stochastic interference cancellation （IC） scheme can be employed to prevent the error propagation in a severe space-time interference scenario. This is because the random rather than the deterministic scheme can reduce the probability of an error decision even if an error decision occurs. Besides, the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio （SINR） based IC order, which is obtained via pilot, can guarantee the optimality of the cancellation. The bit error rate （BER） performance of the proposed scheme is verified through simulation experiments under different multipath interference environment.

Based on the concepts of objective fact and subjective desire proposed in this paper, the problems that exist in the nodal injections-based and transaction-based transmission service allocation scheme are pointed out. To get around the problems above, a novel transmission service allocation scheme is proposed which considers the power flow distribution and the transaction impact on the system simultaneously so that the issues of “Cross-subsidies” and “Counter flow” can be avoided. The principle of the scheme is illustrated using two simple networks with 7 cases. The results show that the proposed scheme can satisfy the properties necessary for the development and growth of the electricity market.
