Sandwich-type ordered mesoporous carbon/graphene nanocomposites derived from ionic liquid

Sandwich-type ordered mesoporous carbon/graphene nanocomposites were successfully synthesized using 2D ordered mesoporous silica/graphene nanocomposites as the hard template and an ionic liquid as a N-rich carbon source. We used an ionic liquid of 1-(3-cyanopropyl)-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide containing nitrile groups (–CN) in the cation and anion as a carbon precursor for the preparation of the nanocomposites. Nitriles do not decompose under thermal treatment in an inert gas atmosphere, but leave significant amounts of N-rich carbon materials. The nanocomposites had a large surface area (1,316 m2·g–1), an average pore diameter of 5.9 nm, and high electrical conductivity. The nanocomposite electrode showed a high specific capacitance of 190 F·g–1at 0.5 A·g–1in 1 M TEABF4/AN electrolyte and a good rate capability between 0 and 2.7 V for supercapacitor (or ultracapacitor) applications. CFSA-Net:Efficient Large-Scale Point Cloud Semantic Segmentation Based on Cross-Fusion Self-Attention

Traditional models for semantic segmentation in point clouds primarily focus on smaller ***,in real-world applications,point clouds often exhibit larger scales,leading to heavy computational and memory *** key to handling large-scale point clouds lies in leveraging random sampling,which offers higher computational efficiency and lower memory consumption compared to other sampling ***,the use of random sampling can potentially result in the loss of crucial points during the encoding *** address these issues,this paper proposes cross-fusion self-attention network(CFSA-Net),a lightweight and efficient network architecture specifically designed for directly processing large-scale point *** the core of this network is the incorporation of random sampling alongside a local feature extraction module based on cross-fusion self-attention(CFSA).This module effectively integrates long-range contextual dependencies between points by employing hierarchical position encoding(HPC).Furthermore,it enhances the interaction between each point’s coordinates and feature information through cross-fusion self-attention pooling,enabling the acquisition of more comprehensive geometric ***,a residual optimization(RO)structure is introduced to extend the receptive field of individual points by stacking hierarchical position encoding and cross-fusion self-attention pooling,thereby reducing the impact of information loss caused by random *** results on the Stanford Large-Scale 3D Indoor Spaces(S3DIS),Semantic3D,and SemanticKITTI datasets demonstrate the superiority of this algorithm over advanced approaches such as RandLA-Net and *** findings underscore the excellent performance of CFSA-Net in large-scale 3D semantic segmentation.

Platinum–cobalt(Pt–Co) alloy electrocatalysts were prepared on pretreated carbon cloth by electrodeposition from different plating baths with the aim of finding suitable plating bath conditions that could control the chemical composition of the Pt–Co alloy electrodeposits over a wide range(from 0 to 100 at% Pt) and then to study the relationship of the deposit composition on the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) electroactivity. The type of supporting electrolyte, the solution pH, Pt and Co concentrations of the plating bath and the current density used for electrodeposition all play a crucial role in the composition of the electrodeposited Pt–Co alloy. Pt contents in all the Pt–Co alloys deposited in H_2SO_4 are at a relatively high and narrow level(83 at%–97 at% Pt), regardless of the electrodeposition conditions used. While the Pt contents in the Pt–Co alloys deposited in Na_2SO_4 could reach a very low and broad level(5 at%–97 at% Pt), evidence of Co oxide formation is observed. Of the three supporting electrolytes studied, only NaCl effectively produces Pt–Co deposits over a wide range of compositions(8–90 at% Pt)by controlling the Pt and Co concentrations of the plating bath and using the high enough current density. The results show a qualitative correlation between Pt–Co deposit composition and ORR activity, where Pt–Co alloy catalysts with ≥ 45 at% Pt tend to yield higher ORR activities than the pure Pt catalyst, with the best ORR performance obtained from the Pt–Co alloy catalyst with 78 at% Pt.

Effects of conductive agent type on lithium extraction from salt lake brine with LiFePO_(4) electrodes

Electrochemical lithium extraction from salt lakes is an effective strategy for obtaining lithium at a low ***,the elevated Mg:Li ratio and the presence of numerous coexisting ions in salt lake brines give rise to challenges,such as prolonged lithium extraction periods,diminished lithium extraction efficiency,and considerable environmental *** this work,Li FePO4(LFP)served as the electrode material for electrochemical lithium *** conductive network in the LFP electrode was optimized by adjusting the type of conductive *** approach resulted in high lithium extraction efficiency and extended cycle *** the single conductive agent of acetylene black(AB)or multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs)was replaced with the mixed conductive agent of AB/MWCNTs,the average diffusion coefficient of Li+in the electrode increased from 2.35×10^(-9)or 1.77×10^(-9)to 4.21×10^(-9)cm^(2)·s^(-1).At the current density of 20 mA·g^(-1),the average lithium extraction capacity per gram of LFP electrode increased from 30.36 mg with the single conductive agent(AB)to 35.62 mg with the mixed conductive agent(AB/MWCNTs).When the mixed conductive agent was used,the capacity retention of the electrode after 30 cycles reached 82.9%,which was considerably higher than the capacity retention of 65.8%obtained when the single AB was ***,the electrode with mixed conductive agent of AB/MWCNTs provided good cycling *** the conductive agent content decreased or the loading capacity increased,the electrode containing the mixed conductive agent continued to show excellent electrochemical ***,a self-designed,highly efficient,continuous lithium extraction device was *** electrode utilizing the AB/MWCNT mixed conductive agent maintained excellent adsorption capacity and cycling performance in this *** work provides a new perspective for the electrochemical extraction of lithium using LFP electrodes.

Sodium-ion batteries have attracted considerable attention in the field of sustainable electrochemical energy storage, owing to their abundant resources and cost-effectiveness. However, their practical application is hindered by poor electrochemical performance under low-temperature(LT) environments. The kinetics of electrode reactions of cathode materials are notably hindered at LT, which makes the search for cathode materials with excellent LT performance a research hotspot. This review encapsulates the recent noteworthy progress in the application of cathode materials, including transition metal oxides, polyanionic compounds, Prussian blue and their analogs, in sodium-ion batteries operating at LT. It offers a comprehensive synthesis of diverse strategies employed to enhance their LT performance and engages in discussions regarding avenues for further enhancement. The overarching aim of this review is to furnish valuable insights and guidance for future research endeavors conducted at LT.

Multilevel carbon architecture of subnanoscopic silicon for fast‐charging high‐energy‐density lithium‐ion batteries

Silicon(Si)is widely used as a lithium‐ion‐battery anode owing to its high capacity and abundant crustal ***,large volume change upon cycling and poor conductivity of Si cause rapid capacity decay and poor fast‐charging capability limiting its commercial ***,we propose a multilevel carbon architecture with vertical graphene sheets(VGSs)grown on surfaces of subnanoscopically and homogeneously dispersed Si–C composite nanospheres,which are subsequently embedded into a carbon matrix(C/VGSs@Si–C).Subnanoscopic C in the Si–C nanospheres,VGSs,and carbon matrix form a three‐dimensional conductive and robust network,which significantly improves the conductivity and suppresses the volume expansion of Si,thereby boosting charge transport and improving electrode *** VGSs with vast exposed edges considerably increase the contact area with the carbon matrix and supply directional transport channels through the entire material,which boosts charge *** carbon matrix encapsulates VGSs@Si–C to decrease the specific surface area and increase tap density,thus yielding high first Coulombic efficiency and electrode compaction ***,C/VGSs@Si–C delivers excellent Li‐ion storage performances under industrial electrode *** particular,the full cells show high energy densities of 603.5 Wh kg^(−1)and 1685.5 Wh L^(−1)at 0.1 C and maintain 80.7%of the energy density at 3 C.

Photonic-based reservoir computing(RC) systems have attracted significant attention. Integrated and purely passive systems are compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor devices,but are limited by the lack of non-linear components. This study consists of two parts: firstly, a review on the published integrated and passive RC system is presented. The review focuses on the structural configuration(rather than the mathematical model) of the neural network; secondly, a new approach for achieving an integrated and passive photonic RC system is introduced and discussed. This approach employs a mode combiner in front of the reservoir to achieve an extra non-linearity in a purely passive device. Moreover,the approach is numerically investigated, and an XOR(exclusive or) task is used to test the device, and the result shows that the new approach satisfies the requirement of an RC system.

Estimating REY content of eastern Kentucky coal samples based on their associated ash elements

Coal and coal combustion byproducts can be considered as an alternative source of rare earth elements and yttrium （REY）. The study of relationships between REY and other main coal properties could have several advantages such as estimating REY content of coal particles and designing beneficial extraction method. In this investigation, inter-correlations between REY content with coal parameters （proximate and ash elements） for a wide range of eastern Kentucky coal samples （708 records） were explored. Results demonstrate that zircon and monazite are the main source of heavy and light rare earth elements （HREE and LREE）, respectively. Zr has the highest correlation with Y and Th has the strength relationship with Ce and La. In general, LREE have higher interaction with coal ash content in comparison with HREE. Results indicated that REY can be estimated quite satisfactorily by using their associated elements in coal ash.
