Case history A 2-year-old girl was brought to the hospital for evaluation of a harsh cough and difficulty *** developed a cold with a runny nose 3 days ago and has been feeling *** mother said she was awake most of the previous night with a barking cough and noisy *** physical examination revealed an oth-erwise healthy child with persistent inspiratory stridor and lower rib retractions at *** vital signs included a pulse of 130/min,a respiratory rate of 40/min,a BP of 90/60 mmHg,and an axillary temperature of 37.3℃.Auscultation revealed an inspiratory stridor transmitted through the lung *** was no cyanosis and no other abnormal physical signs.

This article explores the relevance of the demonstration project as a strategy for inspir-ing contemporary building practice in a process towards sustainable building and as a tool for influencing environmental values in the *** Log Cabin Project in Napier,New Zealand,is a demonstration facility for displaying sustainable build-ing and living practices situated on the campus of the eastern Institute of Technology(EIT).The project is the refurbishment of an existing structure designed to showcase the sustainable use of material resources,energy and water conservation,and waste-water *** aim was to investigate the effect visiting a demonstration sustainable building might have on people’s knowledge of and attitude towards sus-tainability issues,and more specifically whether the methods for making a building more sustainable displayed in the building affected how people thought about their own living *** February 2016,five visitor groups,three of EIT students not previously connected with the project,one of EIT staff,and a local environment group were invited to view the project and surveys were conducted both before and after the visit with 126 participants completing both pre-and *** research found improved scores after the visit in six of the seven survey measures of environmental knowledge,motives,and intentions,especially in the case of student visitor *** results also indicated promising increases in envi-ronmental values and concerns for environmental quality after the *** between gender and sustainable action was not significant,however there was sig-nificant correlation between age and actions intended in the future where engagement was higher among young participant ***,although many visitors had previously engaged with at least one pro-environmental activity before visiting the project(90%),42% made at least one change as a result of the *** findings suggest the project wa

Objectives:Clinical experience is an essential component of nurse practitioner(NP)education that relies heavily on *** and retention of preceptors is challenging due to many variables that can affect NP education and *** surveyed Canadian NP programs to understand their preceptorship structures,how they support preceptorship,and to identify gaps and challenges to recruitment and retention of ***:An 18-item survey,developed by the NP Education Interest Group,was distributed to 24 universities across 10 Canadian *** validity and reliability was assessed by experienced NPs and NP *** were analyzed using relative frequency statistics and thematic *** consisted of administrative staff and/or faculty designated as responsible for recruitment and retention of NP ***:Seventeen returned surveys were analyzed and demonstrated more similarities than differences across Canada's NP programs,particularly related to barriers affecting recruitment and retention of *** findings identified NP programs have too many students for the number of available clinical sites/preceptors,resulting in overutilization,burnout,or refusal to take *** with other health disciplines for clinical placements was identified as a challenge to *** commented they lack time to recruit,provide follow-up,offer support,or seek preceptors'feedback due to competing work *** identified the need for standardized funding for preceptor remuneration and recognition across the ***:The findings suggest the need for exploring a wider intraprofessional collaboration among graduate NP programs/faculty,clinical placement sites,and NPs to facilitate the recruitment and retention of preceptors.

This paper proposes a simple and efficient distributed algorithm for calculating minimal dominating set in wireless sensor network. This method can avoid maintaining the connectivities between backbone hosts. Considering that the hosts in mobile networks have different characteristics, this paper proposes a method of calculating minimal dominating set with weight. The nodes can be chosen to form a minimal dominating set when the network topology changes. For the host switch on/off operation, the updating algorithm was provided. The change in the status of a hostaffects only the status of hosts in the restricted vicinity. Simulation results show that the proposed method can ensure fewer dominators but with higher weight to form the minimal dominating set and the nodes can be adaptive to the changes of network topology.
