The southward expansion of East Asian farmers profoundly influenced the social evolution of Southeast Asia by introducing cereal agriculture. However, the timing and routes of cereal expansion in key regions are unclear due to limited empirical evidence. Here we report macrofossil, microfossil, multiple isotopic(C/N/Sr/O) and paleoproteomic data directly from radiocarbon-dated human samples, which were unearthed from a site in Xingyi in central Yunnan and which date between 7000 and 3300 a *** isotopes reveal the earliest arrival of millet ca. 4900 a BP, and greater reliance on plant and animal agriculture was indicated between 3800 and 3300 a BP. The dietary differences between hunter-gatherer and agricultural groups are also evident in the metabolic and immune system proteins analysed from their skeletal remains. The results of paleoproteomic analysis indicate that humans had divergent biological adaptations, with and without farming. The combined application of isotopes, archaeobotanical data and proteomics provides a new approach to documenting dietary and health changes across major subsistence transitions.

*** The Fankou giant zinc(Zn)-lead(Pb)deposit in Guangdong Province is well-known for its huge reserves of over 10 Mt(million ton)Zn+Pb metals and high ore-grade with Zn+Pb exceeding 15%(Guangdong Fankou Deposit Investigation group,1980;Zhu XY et al.,2017).After 60 years of exploration and exploitation,the deposit has accumulated millions of tons of *** interesting question is that what components are hosted in these tailings,and whether some key and critical metals such as gallium and germanium are extremely enriched and worth further comprehensive *** motivated us to conduct an integrated set of field investigation,sampling,major-trace element analyses and reserve assessments about the Fankou *** this contribution,we discover that the tailings contain a variety of metal elements such as zinc,lead and gallium with comprehensive utilization *** data can act as a scientific guidance for further exploration and utilization of the Fankou tailings,and aid to enhance the utilization efficiency of the key mineral resource in *** study also provide demonstration for future green mine construction in China.

The turbidite channel of South China Sea has been highly *** by the complex fault and the rapid phase change of lithofacies,predicting the channel through conventional seismic attributes is not accurate *** response to this disadvantage,this study used a method combining grey relational analysis(GRA)and support vectormachine(SVM)and established a set of prediction technical procedures suitable for reservoirs with complex geological *** the case study of the Huangliu Formation in Qiongdongnan Basin,South China Sea,this study first dimensionalized the conventional seismic attributes of Gas Layer group I and then used the GRA method to obtain the main relational factors.A higher relational degree indicates a higher probability of responding to the attributes of the turbidite *** study then accumulated the optimized attributes with the highest relational factors to obtain a first-order accumulated sequence,which was used as the input training sample of the SVM model,thus successfully constructing the SVM turbidite channel *** results prove that the GRA-SVMmethod has a high drilling coincidence *** the core and logging data and taking full use of the advantages of seismic inversion in predicting the sand boundary of water channels,this study divides the sedimentary microfacies of the Huangliu Formation in the Lingshui 17-2 Gas *** comprehensive study has shown that the GRA-SVM method has high accuracy for predicting turbidite channels and can be used as a superior turbidite channel prediction method under complex geological conditions.

One size does not fit all: Refining zircon provenance interpretations via integrated grain shape, geochronology, and Hf isotope analysis

Sediment provenance studies commonly utilize isotopic signatures to resolve detrital mineral sources and ***,non-unique ages and geochemical characteristics across geographically distinct crystalline source regions can lead to significant ambiguities in mineral provenance *** ambiguity is apparent in southern Australia’s Cenozoic Eucla Basin,which hosts world-class heavy mineral sand ***,new Hf isotope data are provided from four heavy mineral prospects(N=8,n=844[N=samples,n=grains]).Zircon grain shape data are also presented for a suite of detrital Eucla Basin samples(N=22,n=35,604)and the basin’s underlying basement,the Coompana Province(N=13,n=824).The data are integrated with published detrital and non-detrital primary zircon data to investigate the efficacy of grain shape analysis to better resolve the basin’s mineral *** Hf isotope compositions indicate a primary Mesoproterozoic juvenile source for zircon melts(~1250-1000 Ma,-2.5~+5)with additional contributions from a range of juvenile to evolved late Archean to Phanerozoic-aged zircon bearing magmas(-28.0+11).U-Pb geochronology and Hf isotopes are incapable of differentiating Mesoproterozoic-aged source rocks bounding the region for the majority of heavy mineral deposits analyzed as potential sources express overlapping crystallization ages and similarities in Hf-isotope ***,distinct zircon grain shapes(i.e.,perimeter,major axis and circularity)facilitate improved differentiation across these Mesoproterozoic *** of U-Pb age,Hf isotope and shape data implicate the underlying Madura and Coompana provinces as dominant sediment sources for Eucla Basin detritus aged~1400-1000 *** lack of direct sediment pathways between the underlying basement provinces and placer sediments analyzed demonstrates the significance of zircon reworking from intermediate sedimentary basins in the formation of the economically significa

Chitin powder and chitin-aerogel were prepared from shrimp wastes and used to uptake Y^(3+)from aqueous solutions and concentrate this rare earth element from phosphogypsum(PG).Chitin aerogel displays a specific surface area of 945 m^(2)/g,while chitin powder is 3.6 m^(2)/g,which largely influences its adsorption *** the adsorption in synthetic solutions,the effect of pH on Y^(3+)removal is strong for chitin powder *** contrast,no big pH influence was detected for chitin *** interactions and chelation can highlight the proposed mechanism of Y^(3+)on chitin adsorbents for the powder and ***,in addition to these interactions,pore filling/pore diffusion is the main mechanism of Y^(3+)removal in the chitin *** aerogel is efficient in concentrating 8 times the Y^(3+)from PG,a very complex *** complex chitin aerogel-Y^(3+)can be a secondary source of rare earth elements for other applications.

Vibration reduction effect of the shielding pile based on seismic wave attenuation in shallow underground spaces

Seismic hazards threaten underground structures and subsequently affect surface buildings， making effective vibration reduction measures crucial in shallow underground spaces. This paper proposes a multi-layer shielding pile based on the seismic wave attenuation theory of refraction dispersion and diffraction loss as a new vibration reduction method. By using the dynamic wave interaction between the unique multi-layer structure of the shielding pile and the seismic wave， a shielding area with significant attenuation of the ground motion is formed to achieve the purpose of vibration reduction. The spectral element method (SEM) with high-order source time function and convolution perfect matching layer (PML) is used to simulate the numerical models of shielding piles with different parameters (including background models and excavation models)， and the characteristics of ground motion and site effect near shielding piles in various models are analyzed. The study reveals the control effect and regulation of the material， size， and shape of the shielding pile on its vibration reduction effect， and determines the shielding pile parameters with the best vibration reduction effect. Shielding piles enriches the vibration reduction measures for structures in shallow underground spaces， and provides a new method for preventing seismic hazards under dynamic load.

Possible South-Dipping Mesozoic Subduction at Southern Tethys Ocean-Constrained from Global Tectonic Reconstructions and Seismic Tomography

The evolution of the Tethys Ocean involved several episodes of ocean opening(including the Paleo-Tethys and Neo-Tethys) along its southern margin as terranes rifting away from eastern Gondwana. These oceans were terminated by well observed north-dipping subduction as the same terranes accreted to southern Eurasia. However, the presence of south-dipping subduction, though geologically proposed by numerous studies, have generally been omitted in the reconstruction of Tethyan evolution. Here, we synthesize the Mesozoic south-dipping subduction evolutions in the global reconstruction and focus on two potential events located along the northern edges of Southwest Borneo Block and the Woyla Arc. We next evaluate their slab volumes after thermal diffusion in the current mantle. Fast velocity anomalies in the mantle beneath the same region are then converted to cold anomalies and their volumes are further estimated and compared to the volumes evaluated from these two Mesozoic south-dipping subduction. We further identify seismic fast velocity anomalies likely relevant to slab remnants of south-dipping Tethyan subduction in the present-day mantle beneath the Indian ocean and West Australia, and link them to arc systems in plate reconstructions. In addition, one more tectonic scenario relevant to the north-dipping subduction in our study region is also examined. We speculate the relationship and evolution between such south-dipping subduction and north-dipping subduction in the south of Tethys Oceans. The attempt to reconstruct intermittent south-dipping subduction systems in southern Tethys region represents an effort on assessing rifting mechanisms in the opening of the Tethys Ocean and break-up of eastern Gondwana.
