Profitability and Productivity of the Chinese Textile Industry

This paper considers the cost structure, profitability and productivity of the Chinese textile industry and estimates the impacts of RMB appreciation on this industry. Using data for 1999-2006, we found that the industry has suffered from very low profit margins and returns on capital. Because input prices have been increasing, particularly since 2001, generating profits has become more difficult for the industry. Nevertheless, the industry achieved substantial productivity growth over the period examined. Although at an inadequate level the proJ^tability of the industry did show some signs of improvement. As long as this trend continues, the industry could obtain a decent level of profitability. Since 2005, however, the industry has faced a new challenge： the appreciation of the RMB. Based on 2006 data, we estimated the maximum rate of RMB appreciation that the industry would be able to sustain to be approximately 5percent a year.

Using conventional and novel techniques, the present paper analyzes the main characteristics of Chinese provincial disparities during the reform period, specifically between 1978 and 200Z After dismissing the presence of spatial dependence, three main results are obtained： first, provincial inequalities have basically followed a ＂V＂ trend; second, grouping China into three large regions shows that inequality mainly lies within each region, particularly in coastal areas; and third, the analysis of intra-distribution dynamics reveals that, although there was some significant mobility in provincial relative income, particularly until 1990, the whole periodpersistence in the ranking of income levels is a major feature. This might provoke some changes in the policy approach to dealing with spatial disparities.

Biases affect our judgments and decisions everywhere,because in our daily life,no matter where you are,what kind of occupation you are doing,every decision we make is more or less interfered by cognitive biases,which even determines the outcome of *** addition,with the development of the times,the progress of science and technology,and the change of social structure,we have experienced too many processes from rejection to acceptance,from stubbornness to ***,it often takes time;especially in the commercial field,the timing when users accept products can better reflect this *** article mainly aims at these phenomena,through the information,examples and data from the online sources,to explore how four kinds of cognitive biases:status quo bias,loss aversion bias,mere-exposure effect,and bounded-rationality that affect the smooth progress of innovation products in the fast consumer market,and how these biases can attack the confidence of merchants,so that the originally widely favored products will eventually end in *** the end of the article will also discuss the heuristics that can deal with the biases.

Blockchain is a ground-breaking technology that is transforming supply chain *** study aims to empirically investigate the impacts of blockchain technology on consumer *** conduct this research in collaboration with a Chinese e-commerce company that has introduced a blockchain platform for *** use a multimethod design by combining natural experiment-and case study ***,we collected data from four industries(*** powder,seafood,alcohol and nutrition)to conduct the experiment,and the findings reveal that the firms that adopted the blockchain tracing system have an increase in product sales and a decrease in product returns compared to those that did ***,we conducted a multiple case study with four cases from the four *** findings reveal that the adoption of a blockchain tracing system improves supply chain transparency and process management,which then enhances consumer service and *** study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence that adopting blockchain technology can improve firms’marketing *** findings also reveal how the adoption of blockchain technology affects consumer behavior.

Although achieving impressive economic growth during the economic reform period, China has been plagued by rampant corruption and a widening income gap. How can the coexistence of these two phenomena be explained？ In this paper, we argue that before 1994, the coexistence was induced by a series of expediential institutional arrangements to stimulate entrepreneurial activities and after 1994, it was entrenched because of the slow progress in the overall reform toward becoming a market economy and because of inappropriate government actions and the lack of government action in institutional building. To solve these problems, economic and political reforms need to be accelerated to improve market institutions and to establish the rule of law.

Intra-and Inter-Cultural Conflicts in China： An Exploratory Study

This study examines the causes of intra- and inter-cultural organizational conflicts among Chinese and American managers in the mainland of China. We investigated conflict between members of the same culture （intra-cultural conflict） and conflict between members of different cultures （inter-cultural conflict）. Intra-culturally, both American and Chinese noted self-interest as an important dimension of the cause of conflict. Inter-culturally, both American and Chinese noted cultural differences as an important dimension of the cause of conflict. The similarities between the American and Chinese dimensions were more striking than the differences. The intra-cultural findings reinforce the validity of early Western conflict theories--focusing on self-interest vs. other interest. The inter-cultural findings are partially consistent with intergroup theory and introduce new elements to conflict theory.

This article examines the relationship among subjective well-being(SWB),income and education in China through self-perceived social *** and women appear to use different socioeconomic markers to determine their self-perceived social status,which ultimately affects their subjective reports of *** using the data from the 2010 China General Social Survey(CGSS),this study finds a positive association between income and SWB for *** result also shows a positive association between education and SWB for ***,for women self-perceived social status is a strong mediator of income and happiness;while for men,selfperceived social status mediates the relationship between education and *** study highlights the importance of the cultural influence in understanding the differences in self-perceived social status outcomes by gender and how these differences ultimately influence the subjective measures of well-being in China.
